  1. Thankyou for all of the links and ideas guys, away to check them out now. Unfortunatly Linda K I deffinatly can not bait as my dogs will 100% eat the entire rat(barring the skull) if they find it. I have been using honey/peanut butter with grated cheese, rats love it, but they spring the traps then steal the food. I will deffinatly look into the humane style traps to see if they help. At my wits end, damn rat in the roof keeps waking the kids at all hours at night (telling them its just a friendly possum lol). CC- I hear you, of my two cats in Scotland, one was a mouse killer and the other, well, she thought mice were kittens . Had to love it when you caught her nursing mice (paw on tail so they couldnt escape), cleaning them etc in her bed and then ditching them and running over for a cuddle...ie mice escaping under the sofas lol.
  2. Grrr I need a cat or a JRT to come live in my garage/attic for a few days! Have one rat in the garage and one in the roof and i can not kill the damn things. I cant lay bait incase the dogs sniff out the dead rat before I find it and so far the darn thing keeps evading all the traps. My dogs are great mousers but they are just way too big to hunt in the garage. Times like this I really need a cat. Grrrr. Guess Ill just have to keep waiting on the traps to work and keep the kids and dogs out, PITA as the kids do all their crafts, chalk boards etc out there. Bloody things are springing the traps and stealing the food without getting caught, well one is missing the tip of its tail but thats it. Wish OH wasnt allergic to cats or i knew a young JRT, all the ones I know are deffinatly in their retirement days. Are there any cage type(cat trap) traps for catching rats?
  3. I think that might have been one of the kennels I visited when I was in Texas this year - They had the computor cam on and dogs in their rooms - no free access to outdoors but where taken out into a little grassed area a few times a day. The room itself had all the fluffy pillows, tv and pictures on the walls but immediately outside each individual pen was just a normal kennel environment. We were there on three seperate days and not once when i passed the bigger kennels did I see any of the dogs in the outside play areas even tho the weather was fine. Also the number of play areas didnt match for the number of dogs. They had five buildings each with 40 individual pens but only 5 tiny play area about the size of a big loungeroom and then two small paddocks about quarter acre each. Each paddock had a big sandpit and one paddock had a pool. We were told that they didnt put dogs out with other dogs. So I couldnt understand how 200 dogs could be given playtimes each day with only 7 allocated areas. That sounds exactly like the kennel they had Jet in, they live in Houston but not sure where the kennel was.
  4. Sorry OH is away so the dogs and I have to stay no one to mind the kiddie winks today Im afraid.
  5. The rabbits would go with the kids or to my neighbours and the bearded dragons would go to a friend. Fish to the fish shop.
  6. Unfortunatly SIL whom our children would be going to is highly allergic to dogs so unfortunatly our children would have to part ways from our dogs.Indie would possibly be sent overseas to live with my mum if anything happend to both OH and I, Bonnie would be too much for their own dog though. I never considered MDBA pacers before but will seriously look into this as i dont really want to fly Indie overseas and do not want "just anybody" to have him. Bonnie is sometimes reactive to the occasional offlead dog(when she is onlead) so again I wouldnt want her going to "just anybody" so its either MDBA pacers or pts for my darling girl. PTS sounds harsh but I would not risk anyone elses dog just because the person that had her was not responsible enough to work with/control/understand her.
  7. I am also going to hang my head in shame and admit that my mum actually books her Rough Collie Jet into a similar place in Texas, then has the laptop on all day so they can watch him via the doggycam. :D and yes it is a "suite" that he gets lol . I think america has gone to their heads. i swear I am sooooo not related to them, honest! lol
  8. +1 Seriously now, what dog would rather have a blueberry facial and have its grey moustache dyed than go roll in mud and chase leaves?
  9. :D Ahahahahaha, did you see the dog with its own cellphone in the video!!!!!!!!! ;) ;) :D
  10. thats what i am hoping :D Fantastic work on training your boston! Love to see well trained little ones, well done. Indie is the same, even if the kids want to give him food he knows he is not allowed to accecpt it unless I or my OH says its "ok"..ie darling 2yr old has a habit of wanting to share his food with the dogs. Whenever anyone is eating at the table the dogs know they have to go to bed and cant touch any fallen food( makes for a big puddle of stafford drool, eewwww!). Bonnie will gently take treats from strangers/our kids and holds it for a few seconds to see if shes allowed it but Indie flat out refuses unless I hand it to him. There have been a couple times at OUR home when the inlaws have called to ask why the dogs are lying looking at their full bowls after 30min lol("ok" wasnt given). When we are at others homes or kennels they will easily eat out of a BOWL without the "ok" from others feeding them. Indie still wont take treats if I am not there but that is fine by me, I dont want people slipping him food when I have him out at footy matches etc anyways. Bonnie will eat anything anyone gives her if Im not there.
  11. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12...procedures.html Sorry the article is far too long to copy and paste.
  12. :D Yay for Charlie! Lol now you really have two teenagers to contend with, good luck, piccys please!
  13. Sunnyflower- Well done for managing to convince your sister of the scam. Will be great for her and the kids to have a ball of fluff in their lives to share the hard times ahead with. With your loving support and her partners support Im sure another dog would be good for them, especially the kids. I know my dogs back home helped me get through the hard times of my dads MS when I was young.Well done SF. As for Mossells comments you either have absolutly zero idea of huntingtons or if you do have the slightest inkling then you are absolutly dispicable for making those comments towards any family that has this disease in their lives. Down right disgusted that you could be so callous in your coments!

  19. Thanks guys. Yeah I didnt think it would work being sent to liverpool council as I believe they only have 10 staff working out of the library. I didnt even think about renbury, thats perfect, I have been meaning to head out that way anyways. Thankyou again everyone, I will try get to renbury tomorrow or Saturday.
  20. Yay for Charlie! Cant believe how far he's come, so glad to hear that he is stable and going back to his dog club, well done boy!
  21. Awwwwwww photos needed when you bring him home!! Thats my birthday so mandatory puppy photos lol. Too cute, love his name.
  22. I know it wont be easy for anyone out of area to help me on this one but I need advise. Ive been ill all this week and only noticed yesterday that liverpool city council burned to the ground, talk about living under a rock when it is only a 5min drive away ! 1- With my dogs being registered there, does that mean that their chips are now void? After reading all the info I can find it appears ALL paperwork and computer systems were destroyed. Do I take them to the vets and have them scanned for their details? Actually scrap that idea because I remember last time I checked their details that the vet could confirm their chip number but were not able to legally tell me if my details came up (I had to ring liverpoll council to double check). Good thing I did as Bonnies breeder have never changed her chip details and had moved interstate so their number/address was void anyways. 2- I need to change our phone numbers asap, how the heck am I ment to do this now? Can I contact another council to do it for me? Thats assuming their chips still exist somewhere? Stressing much! Our dogs dont wear collars in the yard as they play far to rough and Bonnie has tightend Indies collar to near choking before(thank god for his thick coat) so collars are not an option. They are never allowed out the front but the odd times they have sneaked out with us they have never left the driveway. But its "sods law" that someone will leave a gate open and they will go missing now with no phone numbers on their chips. Advise guys?
  23. I'll try! Just need a babysitter as OH is away, Damn. I would only take Indie though.
  24. My two absolutly love fish heads and fish tails but unfortunatly so does my OH YUCK!
