Stunning photos! I love greys, now if only I can convince my OH to like them. May take a few years i think, ok perhaps a life time, ohwell, I will just have to sneak one in when hes not looking.

Just fluids. After 10min in the vet and her excitment at being there(stupid thing was still trying to cuddle and drown the vet in kisses) her gums actually started to pink up a little but you could still pinch her scruff and it would not go down until it was rubbed back down. Apparently she was extremly quiet and just slept the whole time, not intrested in anything, but was over the top excited this morning when they spoke to her.

I really thought my vet was fantasic but after talking to everyone on here, Im really not sure what to think. He deffinatly said those words, hence my OP. I was so sure that they wouldnt survive and was so distraght that there was basically no hope. I almost feel like I over reacted in my OP after reading everyones post but I was lead to belive that were was so little hope of them pulling through. Actually quite peeved if I am honest. I mean if I didnt have DOL then I would have had no idea that they had a fighting chance and would have been grieving every day in anticipation that thay would pass. Again thankyou so much for stopping me from loosing hope (and becoming a nervous wreck), its really not in my character to get so distressed, you returned me to being the calm level headed member to our family lol. Im still on tenderhooks with Bonnie, especially given this tiny graze keeps bleeding, but I am so hopeful now that she will be ok.

Hi everyone, just a quick update before I read through the posts. Bonnie was put on a drip yesterday but is now home and trying to bounce around (keeping her extremly quiet and not letting her go outside without me). She became pretty bad yesterday morning. Really did not want to stand up and was falling asleep sitting upright, lost all colour (grey gums) and was extremly dehydrated despite drinking alot of water. Today she is acting like her usual self, she even did a play bow with Indie before changing her mind and heading back to her bed, she is so much happier today. ALOT more energy and colour. She managed to get a tiny graze to her ear this morning though and it has been bleeding a fair bit on and off all day so she is not out of the woods yet. Hoping the worst is past. Indie seems 100% fine, has actually started chasing his tail since Bonnie wont play with him so he cant be feeling that bad. Thankyou for all our positive thoughts and posts, Im sure the DOL vibe has helped her on her way to recovery. I know it has made her owner feel alot more positive and hopeful for her, thankyou so much everyone!

Ive told the kids to leave them alone to sleep and everyone is fine with that, although my 2yr old wants to sleep with Bonnie so Ive moved her behind my back(or let her in my bedroom) so he cant cuddle her. They just arent used to going outside with Bonnie not pushing toys into their hands to engage them in play and following them around like a shadow. They know something is wrong with her. Indie is acting like normal but is stuck like velcro to Bonnie.
-
Thankyou, She is lying in my lap just now, checking her gums and eyes every so often(no change). Im going to give her a few hours to see if she deteriorates and Ill take her in. Hoping the more she rests, the more she will recover. She will still get up and walk around (if she hears food) and go outside to toilet but not interested in anything but sleeping. Is there anything I can give ie the glucose in her water to give her some energy? Extra iron? My vet said of all the cases they had this year(alot), they havent managed to save a single dog yet and has prepared me for the worst but with everything said here and the Vit K, why couldnt they save any? (Retorical question) He did say they could try the drip and blood transfusion but I dont understand how none have survived with all that treatment and all of these positive stories.

Sorry I havent been online. We lost a friend to cancer last night. The last two weeks have been hell. So far so good-ish. Indie seems normal so far but Bonnie is very lethargic. Her gums are a very light salmon colour now (usually bright red). She is drinking gallons of water but is still eating ok, she wont play (usually she is flat chat doing zoomies and wrestling in the yard), only wants to sleep on the sofa or sunbake in the grass. She is so quiet. I think Bonnie must have eaten most/all of it as Indie is only 20kg whilst Bon is 25kg so surely he would have been affected sooner. My poor girl. After talking to the manufacturer of the bait, they said it would take 7-10days for the symtoms(bleeding) to appear, so we will know by Wednesday how they are coping. With all your positive stories and prayers I have so much hope that they may pull through this. My poor OH is still kicking himself everytime he looks at them. Needless to say the bait went straight into the outside bin and will never be near our house again. Im acting normal on the outside, just gutted on in the inside, I dont want my emotions to rub off on the kids and the dogs. Kids are already asking me why the dogs have to take tablets daily and why Bonnie wont play with them, I just said they have sore tummys and hopefully the tablets will make them feel better. Taking oh so many photos of my beautiful pups just incase the worst happens. Thankyou so much for all your kind words and for the candles, they are lovely. Julzjc

He said he will treat them for 6weeks. Its a slow release rat bait that takes 4-7days to work on a rat assuming they have eaten 4grams. The dogs ate between 20-40g. I am praying so hard that they do pull through this one. He said he didnt think the blood test would help as even if it came back negitive today, it may be positive tomorrow with the slow acting poision? He would treat both of them regardless with Vit K. I really hope your right and the Vit K stops this. praying your right. Indies gums are a bit pale and Bonnie eyes are pretty bloodshot but sure its from pulling on her collar at the vet. Indie, Im not sure, maybe his gums were always this pale? Not grey or white but nowhere near as rosie red as Bonnies. Bonnie has been eating grass all day long, she wanted out at 4.30am this morning just to go and eat grass and has been really quiet. Indie must have taken it down(not something Bonnie wouild do) but if she has seen him with it, she would have stood over him for it. I just want to say thankyou so much to the DOL community. Im on my own tonight. My OHs 75yr old grandmother fell down a flight of concrete stairs today aswell and fractured her spine so OH is away to spend the night with his grandfather. Thankyou for giving me a (virtual) shoulder to cry on, its means alot. By no means is my mind at ease but all your positive stories have giving me so much more hope, thankyou so much everyone. Julzjc

Sometime between 6am and 4pm on Monday. It was 11am today before we realised what had happend.

Thankyou so much everyone. My eyes are red raw from crying so much. Hating this. My vet was beautiful, he gave me a cudlle and his mobile number and told me to call him anytime, even if I just wanted someone to talk to, even at 2am in the morning, just to call. God, I am just devastated. Sorry if I dont reply much, cant stop crying.

Im gutted. I havent stopped crying all day. I have had an awful two weeks. Everything that can go wrong has, any peice of bad news you could give me Ive had, but today, today is the worst day. I cant belive Im writting this, i dont know what to write. Today I was told I may only have 10-14days left with my beloved dogs before they travel the raindow bridge and I am heartbroken. After having a horrendous week last week I decided to take the kids(OH working) down the south coast to our van for 4days (no dogs allowed as it is in national park). I got home last night for my sons 2nd birthday. Today I went to let the rabbits out in the big run at the far end to our yard. I noticed a chewed up plastic thing in the grass, it was ment to be 2shelves up in the locked garage, my heart sank, I knew what was on the shelf next to where that object was ment to be....a plastic container with 2packets of rat bait(used for inside the ceiling). I lost it, I started crying, I asked OH. He said he was in the garage working and he was sure he closed and locked the door properly on sunday but when he came home from work on Monday he caught both the dogs coming out of the garage. He checked the garage but could only see a chewed watering can and two bottles had been knocked over that were on the table. I looked, he was right, the garage looked as I had left it but when I checked the shelve, the bait was gone and things knocked over. We searched everywhere. I finally found a tiny piece of chewed up paper. They had eaten it,all of it. I took them to our vet but its too late. They have had Vitiamn K shots and have Vit K tablets to take every day. It will take 14days(10days now) before the symtoms appear and I know which one of my poor babies (or both) I will have to say goodbye to. I feel awful, I am so gutted. My OH is a wreck, he was so sure he locked the door and he thought nothing had been touched, he keeps blaming himself for it all. It was an accident, it was in a locked garage, almost 2metres up in a container, and they got it. I just dont know what to do. They are both cuddled up, sleeping peacfully in my lap, I cant stand the thought of what is about to happen to one or both of them. My beautiful loyal dogs. I am so sorry! Please forgive me for ever taken that horrid bait anywhere near our home. I am so sorry babies. I am hoping by some miracle they both pull through, that the bait magically vanished or was shrewn around the yard, I know its not reality but I have to hope, I cant stand this. They are going to live the life of riley. They will be with me in my bed every night, I will be with them every day on the sofa, they will have so many treats and oh so many cuddles, my poor sweethearts, I am so very sorry my babies.

He reminds me so much of my papillion Tyke and my saluki TJ back home. Tyke ( male) used to try and nurse orphaned rabbits and the odd kitten, he would keep them warm, herd them back to their den, clean them, toilet them. Our budgie used to waddle through the house chasing them and preening their faces(teasing hair out of their ears). TJ and Tyke both used to sleep in the rabbit hutches when TJ was small. As TJ grew into an adult, he ended up sleeping outside of the hutch but still had his head inside. We always had the rabbits, birds, chinchillas inside so they could snuggle up in the dogs beds with them. Dont think I have any photos over here but Ill have a look. lol so much for TJ being a sighthound.

So happy for Banshee. It must be really hard on you but it sounds like she has a fantastic family waiting to spoil her and love her just as much as you do. Beautiful photo, its amazing how far she has come with all your love and the work you have put into her. Job well done . You have done amazing work with Banshee, you should be so proud.

I love it, its the only bed my dogs have not destroyed when i put it outside to air. Its easy to clean, a wipe down with a damp cloth removes any stains(mud) and dog hair. Every few days I take it outside and just give it a beat to get rid of hair and dust(mud again). It doesnt smell even when the dogs have been wet. Easy to unzip the bed and throw it in the washing machine. I had a look but no size on my one, think its large or xlarge but it fits an Amstaff and Sibe with plenty on room to strech out if they want. Oh and fits the occasional 2yr old.

German Shepherd Died In Tragic Accident

RIP sweet boy. I am so sorry for your loss. I tell my children exactly what has happend. If the have suddenly became sick, been biten by a spider etc. I say that they became very sick but the vet couldnt make them better and they have died. I say its ok because they are not in pain anymore and they have gone to heaven to become a star and gradma is looking after them. Anytime you miss them, you just look up at the stars and remember them, remember playing with them and you can talk to them if you want to. Everytime my kids see the stars on a clear night they always start chatting happily about Grandma, Roxy, Gizmo, Gypsy and Fidget. My eldest two are almost 5yrs and just turned 3yrs. My 3yr old has been mentioning the stars since she was 2yrs 3mths. All children are different on how they cope. Ive had a few people tell me that I shouldnt tell them the truth and have tried to tell my children the "gone to the farm" story but I think they cope better being told the truth from the start. My prayers are with you and your family at this terrible time. Rest In Peace big boy. -
Rest In Peace sweet boy. So sorry for your loss, he was such a beautiful young boy. RIP angel.

Far out! Glad that you and your daughter are safe. What a terrifying ordeal to go through. The sooner that dog and its owners are found, the better! Good on you for still being able to phone the school afterwards and managing to get your daughter between yourself and the fence. I always carry a small can of bodyspray in my bag or in the pram just incase, I would have noway of being able to sheild a double pram plus 2 other kids. Just feel sick to my stomach thinking about what you both went through. I am so glad you are both ok, albeit your nerves being wrecked from the experience. Praying your daughter is not affected too much by what happend, poor little mite. [[[hugs]]]]
