  1. Sibes are not part wolf, they wont eat little kids, they dont need brushed three times a day, you DO NOT shave them in summer and they CAN BE trained! The amount of times I have been told that Sibes are stupid and untrainable (by owners that have dumped them). Sorry but if I can train a Sibe to heel, sit, lie down, roll over, fetch, get the mail and recall away from other dogs whilst caring for 4 kids and a zoo, then it is not "IMPOSSIBLE". No my "pittbull" will not suddenly snap her leash and run across traffic just to bite and kill you. No I am not going to relase her off off her leash and "set" her on you. Yes it is safe to walk her with my kids, no I am not scared that she will turn around suddenly and kill them or myself just because she is a "pittbull". No she is not a "pittbull", she is ANKC registered (not that I would care if she was pittbull mind you), yes I am sure. Oh whats that, she is too big (25kg),trim and muscular to be an Amstaff, they are alot fatter and smaller? Ofcourse you would know wouldnt you, she simply must be a pittbull then! For the last time NO I highly doubt that one day she will break into the kids bedrooms and attack them in their sleep like all the stories that you see on the news. Actually glad that almost everyone changes direction or crosses the street when I walk Bonnie, gives me some peace and quite instead of being warned about the dangers of owning a "pittbull".
  2. Not yet, but may be praying for some snow this week if it hits the predicted 36oC They are in the actual water, and living there happily....or were until the salt joined them lol moth larvae live everywhere, things are bloddy impossible to kill with sprays etc, only answer is to "pop" lol. Gross but it works. Having said that i used to save them all up for my lizards instead lol. Haha, bet you cant wait for the Chritmas temps! My bro is coming over from Aberdeen for Christmas and New Year. Guess what....he is allergic to the sun! Serious! He has Vitiligo he is going to cook in the heat! He will be begging for snow within minutes of landing here.
  3. Moth larvae by the looks of them, too late now as they have already hatched but it is a good idea to put moth traps in your house, pantry for next year as you may find these creepy crawlies crawling up your walls, along the ceiling and in your flour/rice. In the mean time the only way to get rid of them is "pop" them with a tissue until they are all gone (or buy a lizard) lol and put up with them for a few weeks. Oh and mind your head, you will probably see them making cacoons in the corners of your ceiling (and sometimes they drop off the ceiling, sorry but had to warn you)...pop them too before you have dozens of moths. Hehe missing scotland yet CC? ;)
  4. Giving me goosebumps. Sorry that it has brought up all of your grief over loosing your boy again.
  5. He is ment to be a "foster"?! lol Sorry SC but I have to agree on the foster failure bit. I honestly have no idea what the photo is about, I tried "dalmation in a tutu", "dalmation in a dress"..came up with nothing so typed in "pink dalmation" and got this on the first hit, lol way too much time on my hands when the kids were napping. I think the puppy play room is a great idea, Dylan certainly loves hiding and pepper looks so pleased with having the bed all to herself.
  6. Not quite Dylan or Tango but..... sorry SC, couldnt help myself
  7. Lol I have heaps more but think I better start getting dinner ready, Ill post more later lol.
  8. Please stop me if there is already a thred on this.... Im so bored today....
  9. Poor boy. Glad to hear that he is feeling a bit better. It can be a nightmare trying to keep Staffords quiet, even toilet breaks become a struggle (even onleash lol). Its amazing how many "indoor" gentle games/tricks you can come up with though. Hoping his leg makes a full recovery. All the best Bundy boy!
  10. I use sunblock on the bridge of Bonnies nose as she sunburns easily there. Even if she is only outside for a little while she tends to jump in her paddling pool so her wet exposed skin turns bright pink very quickly. ETA- Also sometimes put it on her underside as dopey tends to roll flat on her back, spread eagle to sunbake.
  11. Beautiful yet sad story, poor lass.
  12. Loved it! "Hey Bonnie, would you do that with me?" *Looks at Bonnie sprawled across the floor, snoring....hmmm somehow I dont so.*
  13. Bonnie an early bird? Hmmmm not a chance! Bonnie does not do mornings, she doesnt even do nights. Trying to move her between 6pm and 10am is a nightmare. She will eventually shift her bum into gear but not before 3 "stretch-and-pauses" . Big long stretch, freeze in postion and pause to see if I am serious about telling her to move her bum, all the time sporting the saddest eyes possible. Then repeat..... Heaven forbid that its cold outside, she then stands in the doorway untill you push her bum out. Indie will generally lie in too but as soon as I tell him to go out he will trot over to the door eager to start the day. Occasionaly if I sleep in and he is desperate, he will open 3doors and come to my bedside to lick my hand and wake me up before bolting for the back door lol.
  14. So glad to hear he has a little more strength today KM. Been thinking about your poor boy all day. Awww, such a brave boy, still managing to give you a kiss through all of his pain, poor baby, they really are amazing arent they. I would deffinatly be looking into an epi-pen just incase, would give you a little bit of security knowing that you can treat him instantly. Praying for a full and speedy recovery Chase, you'll be home in no time big boy.
  15. Oh no Km! Poor pup, he is so beautiful. We are praying for you Chase! Come on boy, get better for your mum.
  16. Rest In Peace beautiful prince. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Arash. The pain will lessen with time but he will never be forgotten.
  17. lol tell me about it! I have absolutly no idea who they rent from, I doubt they would have permission for a dog though (hence never once been inside). I think there is a 1/2m x 2m max bit of soil/pebbles so I dont think the concrete legislation part would work. I think I am going to have to wait a while until the fence incident is forgotten and then call council about the barking (I cant mention the fence or they would know it was me). Seriously though, what sane dog would throw its body repeatadly against a colourbond fence for no reason other than boredom, they poor boy must have some serious mental issues from boredom. Oh and hes entire so can you imagine what he would do to poor Indie if he ever got through (he acts civil under the fence but doubt he would be like that face to face). Grrrrr think Ill move to an isolated island(with internet) lol.
  18. Oh they deffinatly know about his barking! He barks right outside of their bedroom window! I had to put up with a few months of my kids waking up saying "mummy Im scared of Rockys barking" at 1,2,3,4,5am before they learned to sleep through it. Lucky-ish we live on a 900m block and our house is at the front of the block, I feel so sorry for the other neighbours which have bedrooms 1m away from Rockys fence! They seem like nice people but I do wonder why their house is a fortress, to sets of 9ft piked gates to get to there front door (plus Rocky), 3 surveillence cameras at the front, speaker phone, barred windows....not really sure if they are the kind of neighbours I really want to P'off....oh and its a rented property!!!!! The RSPCA wont do anything, he has a kennel (as of may!) and gets food and water . My OH has politley/sternly said to tell her sons to walk their dog as he is going crazy with boredom " oh I do but they dont listen, we got the dog for them, its their dog "..." oh is that Rocky being a naughty boy again". Today was- " Oh we had people round and he just gets so excited when he sees people, so we shut him in the pool fence, but its ok my OH will fix it when he gets home. Hes just a crazy dog, I dont know what gets into him"...Bah! Boredom is what is wrong with him, poor boy.Atleast for once they noticed the fence. Oh then she said " Your dogs fight all the time! You should be careful with them!"....Ummm yeah, its called the sound of dogs playing! Ofcourse if you ever played tug with Rocky or socialised him then you would probably know that (I didnt say that outloud). Im home 24/7 with my dogs basically so I know what they are doing, only time they have a barney is when they catch a bird and have to sort out who gets to keep it. If I do report it, what can the council even do about it? He is not constantly breaking through the fence, they would know it was me, what if they take offence and purposly let Rocky through the fence next time he does it? He looks in great condition so not much they can do. Ive spoken to the other neighbours, they hate the dog but Im pretty sure there is a good reason why they havent reported to the council. Not sure which is the greater evil, not reporting it and trying toget on with it (reinforce the fence as much as possible plus concrete along the fence line, would have to remove my orange tree) or report it and run the risk of nasty neighbours (putting my kids and pets at more risk)? ps I dont even live in a bad neighbourhood for them to have a fortress, its a fantasic place with pretty much no crime atall. Ok rant over (ish).
  19. Bah! Permission to go and slap my neighbours? So over having to check my back fence every morning just incase. Glad i checked it this morning, once again it is torn apart. GRRRRRRRRR! I now have to cancel my trip out with the kids until I can make sure the fence is secure. My neighbours dog (supposedly pure Amstaff more like labx pit) is the same age as Bonnie (16mth) and has not been out of his 6m x 3m(max) concrete yard since he was 6wks old. He is never allowed inside no matter what the weather, they dont talk to him, only drop his food in his dog bowl and that is it. The poor boy, I feel so sorry for him. He barks constantly (Ive heard him many times at 3am in the morning) and is forever trying to dig into our yard. Digging I can deal with (albeit with chicken wire, steel posts and many planks of wood along the ground on my side of the colourbond fence). But this is p'ing me off big time! This is the 5th time this year that he has became so bored at night (1am last night) that he has started throwing his body into the 6ft high colourbond fence, over and over again untill....he has split right through the colourbond!!!! For some reason, wether he is afraid of Bonnie or his owners I dont know, he has never actually came into our yard (THANK DOG). I am dreading the day that he gets brave enough to come into my yard, I have rabbits, avaires, dragons, plus my dogs and kids. He seems ok with my dogs under the fence but anytime I go near to fix the holes he digs he tries to snap at me. Terrified it happens when the kids are outside (or my dogs, other pets for that matter). Far out! So Sh*tty right now. OH wont be home until 6pm to screw/reinforce the fence so in the meantime I am on guard duty. Ive put some spare pool fence panels against it but still. Bloody neighbours, if they would just pay some attention to the poor dog we wouldnt have these problems. Not the dogs fault but FFS, over it! ETA- Sorry for the language and the rant. By splitting through I mean 1-2ft gaps!
  20. Sorry to hear that PP. I completly forgot about that. I was present when my best friend lost her standard poople to bloat, was devastating. I wonder if it would be worth doing that "stitch in place" procedure whilst desexing is carried out to try and reduce the risk of bloat? (talking out of my a*s, I know very little about the actual procedure, just a thought.)
