  1. sorry - spent ages trying to re-size it (it was nearly 6mb to start with) and then had to join photobucket to upload it....it's not the best picture to have small - like you said, it's hard to work out which is the dog and which is his toy!! I have today off, so will take some more photos and hopefully will have a couple of better ones to shrink down. Jules Edit - thanks for the offer amypie - will get some nice photos today and take you up on your offer!!
  2. Thanks for the welcome - (sorry was trying to add a photo to my signature -took me a while!) And Hi to spyke too - your dog is just beautiful! As far as the raw mince thing goes - we are just following on what the breeder was feeding him. I was a bit dubious about it at first to be honest, and thought we would probably try and change it gradually but seeing how healthy and shiny he is (and he loves it) has made us decide to keep going with it. The vet I took him to for a quick check-up when we got him also recommended carrying on with it...anyway, we will see how we go. Jules
  3. Hi All, Another newbie here - just wanted to say Hello to fellow WA doglovers. We have a new Dobie pup (14 weeks old - we've only had him for 2 weeks) so have been reading the puppy threads too! We lost our last beautiful dobie girl in January at 12 years old, so has been a bit of a shock to the system to have an energetic, chewy but very loving puppy running around! Started puppy school last week so hopefully we're on the right track for training. He's on a raw meat diet so need to do a search on here for good places to buy the meat from in the northern suburbs. Already getting the chicken mince from Lenards, but have only been able to find red meat mince for pets at the supermarket - does anyone know if Drovers do it? Our last dog wasn't on raw meat so am a bit new to it all - the new pup is ridiculously healthy though, so it seems to work. ;) Cheers Jules ;)
  4. Thanks for all the support guys! Makes me feel that I'm not being too neurotic... I appreciate that the breeder may not have picked out which puppy was ours yet, but some photos (or even one!) of all the puppies would have been lovely - something for us to go all "mushy" over (you all know what I mean!!) I'm going to give her a call this weekend as it's about time we discussed the transport arrangements/final payment so hopefully that will remind her that we are still over here patiently waiting for some news... It is disappointing as we told all our friends weeks ago about the new puppy and they are almost as excited as we are (they all loved our other dog who passed away) so it's hard when they keep asking us if we have got any photos yet.. Also, I deliberately haven't said what breed of dog it is as I don't want to get anyone offside if they realise who the breeder is. I'm sure she is a wonderful breeder, and I was thoroughly "interviewed" when I first called about a puppy - but just one little photo would have made all the difference!! Fingers crossed for something soon! Jules
  5. Hi Longcoat, My husband is saying the same as yourself at the moment!! I'm just a bit worried about ticking them off and getting the runt of the litter I'm hoping we get some contact/photos before the balance of the money is due..... Good Luck with your new puppy and hope everything works out fine. Jules
  6. That's exactly what I didn't want to do - drive them mad with emails etc!! (even though it's very exciting we have only sent one so have been good!)
  7. Thankyou for your quick response Sway - I'm not normally neurotic! Just a bit worried that's all. We agreed over the phone when I first spoke to her that we could have him in just over 2 weeks time, so I guess it's about time I gave her a call to discuss transport etc. Would have just been lovely to have seen some photos......we have gone from being so excited to a bit concerned that we have made a bad decision. We lost our beautiful girl a couple of months ago after 12 years so hopefully this new boy will help mend our hearts a little. I'll give her a call over the weekend and see how I go - will report back. Jules
  8. Hi All, Just a query on the "etiquette" to anyone who has either bought a puppy from interstate or breeds dogs themselves and sends them interstate? Arranged to buy a puppy from a long established registered breeder interstate as no puppies of that breed available locally (was recommended to us by the Secretary of our state club) - paid a large deposit 3 weeks ago (puppies were 6 weeks old at the time - but this breeder does not let her pups go to new homes until they are 12 weeks old) - she advised that she would pick the best one to suit us which I was OK with and would have some photos soon. Their website has photos of the father and grandparents (but not the mother) After about 10 days with no contact - I sent a quick email to confirm the deposit had been received, enquired after the pups and that we were looking forward to seeing photos (hint, hint) - the response a few days later was that photos would be taken that weekend as the pups were 8 weeks old and "look their best" - that was almost 2 weeks ago and have still received no further info - the pups are now nearly 10 weeks old. Is this normal? Do I send another email or call her? I don't want to feel that I am "hassling" but we were so excited about getting him and all our friends keep asking if we have got any photos for them to look at - when I read others experiences about buying a puppy, they all seem to get regular updates and photos. Should I be concerned? The pups are quite expensive, which I don't mind for a "good quality" dog - but the lack of any contact is making me worried. Obviously I will need to contact her soon anyway to discuss transport, but it seems like there is no interest on the breeders side about making us happy with our decision and we are beginning to have second thoughts - especially as we are trusting her to pick the right puppy for us..... Any advice on how to handle this? Or am I just a typical neurotic new puppy buyer!!
