thankyou pandii i am very happy with her and very greatful to her wonderful breeder :D she is currently asleep with my husband in bed lol well alst night didn't go so well screamed for most of the night lol she is so vocal rofl a little sleep deprived but i can't stay mad at her face :D I envy you! My puppy NEVER want to sleep with us. Been trying to encourage him to sleep with us on the bed. My puppy loves to be in the same room with us and just sits happily chewing his toys but does not want to stick to us. I guess you got a BIG lap dog ( )

I find my puppy loves any cardboard materials. Like tissue box and toilet rolls etc. You can put dog treats into the tissue rolls and fold both sides of the rolls. Your puppy will find it fun to roll and get the treats out and also chewing on the toilet roll. Kong is good as well but my puppy enjoys his chew toys more. Ropes and strings are his favourites.

Hi everyone, I am thinking of getting my BC puppy (~15 weeks) pet insurance. I got some questions because I don't get what they mean. Other than covering accidents and illnesses, do they cover yearly check-ups and vaccinations? What do they mean by "Excess applicable"? Policy limits means that if the vet bill exceeds that, I will have to fork out the extras right? We have to pay the vet upfront and then make a claim right? Anyone has any recommendations on which pet insurance company is better? Thanks for advice.

Congrats! Some puppies just bond to us don't they? Well I would take her if her personality is good and you are not showing her so her long legs and short body won't bother too much~

gaylek - I love your guy so much! omg he is such a handsome pup! damo&jaws - great to hear your boy fitting in so well. Did he play with the cats?
-
emery - your pup is so cute! He seems like he found something he loves to chew. michelle - Oreo has the same eye colour as her! Tez - You can join as long as you have piccys for us =D My friend came to our house with her 8 weeks old puppy (maltese x shih tzu cross breed). Oreo was having so much fun riding on top of him. Imagine a 9kg puppy playing with a 1.2kg puppy. But my friend's puppy was more interested in sleeping so only a short play for him.

cornell - welcome. I love goldies! It was one of my choices when buying a puppy. I've got a border collie now and its super duper hyper active (if you know what i mean). I might get another pup in 2 years time. I think Oreo would love to have some company. I am leaning towards golden retriever or shetland sheepdog. But Oreo might be too much for a sheltie. I will see how Oreo grows up into. If he is not too boisterous when he grows up, I might get a sheltie! Nushie - great! 3 more sleeps is short! The puppy preschool trainer told me that we could socialise the pup and walk in public places AS LONG AS they do not sniff other dog's wee and poo. They can come into contact with vaccinated dogs. I have been bringing Oreo around after the 12 week vaccination to socialise him. He nips other dogs in the puppy preschool so I am letting him meet more dogs so he would be well-socialised. So far he didn't nip on other dogs that he met. I let him have a quick 'hello' and then I moved on. I can't imagine when he is 6 months old and whenever he sees a dog, he goes crazy!

i'm not sure on weight, hasnt been done in a while. as for tricks she knows sit, paw, roll over...she can pull the plug out of the bath and retrived the soccer ball for us and waits for us to kick it again but she figured out most of them herself and i just associated words with them so she would learn. I really wish we had some sort of agility set up here for her....... she hasnt learnt 'stay' or wait yet though....... she doesnt like leads and she play bites when i try to change her collar she eats EVERYTHING! My Boy spat out a piece of apple I gave him. He doesnt know how to drop the the toy for us though. He will run and grab the ball back to us but wont give us the ball. I think he likes to play tug. I have been training him to "turn" and "spin". 1 cute move I taught him was to put his paw on our legs and we use the command "friend". Haha I give him lots of treats when I put collar on him so he loves it and he knows lead = going out. Nic

My boy hates the crate when he came to me because he never encountered A crate before. I put his meals and treats that he likes into the crate. Start at the entrance of the crate lowness over time, slowly put the treats all the way into the crate. They will then like the crate. Stay with him at first and reward whenever he is calm and quiet. After awhile, he will happily sleep in there. =D Now, my boy is trained to go into his crate using the command "in". I point him to the place I want him to go to and say "in". He will sit in there and wait for his treats happily (not 100% of the time, maybe 80% or so). I think crate training him will come in handy when you travel long distances or in the car.

Hellogorgeous - great to hear that you are getting a pup. More pics please! BF - how great when you can have children playing happily with your dogs. I am trying to expose Oreo to more children but no luck yet. All my friends are young (~21-24) so none of us have children yet! When children approach Oreo, parents pull them away =(

Just like Charles say - they are babies so sleeping is normal. Maybe put your puppy to sleep before your friends come to your house. That's what I do. An hour before my friends come, I put him to sleep and when friends come, I let him out to play. My boy is crate trained and he knows that going into crate means to sleep. Let him sleep if he wants to. Maybe you got a laid back pup. What breed is your pup anyway?
-
Emery - Rottweiler is big and black right?(sorry if I am wrong) I used to be afraid of big, black dogs when I was young. Until i come into contact with friendly dogs. Since then, I have always wanted a dog. BF - does Zoe play with the cat? My gf's auntie's cat is afraid of verything including Oreo. So I just keep them apart. She freaks out when Oreo approach her.
-
Yeah I agree with you Charles. I think I got a weird dog but I love him. Haha. That's why every 3 hours, I put him into his crate to make him sleep for at least 1 hour before I let him out. He is tired(half eyes closed) and he won't sleep so I have to make him sleep.
-
I think it depends on the breed though. My puppy sleep at around 11pm to 7am in the morning and some short naps of about 1 hour between each play. He is a border collie and 14 weeks. He spends the rest of time playing his toys and playing with us. My boy once play for 5 hours before he gets tired and sleep.
-
emery - what breed is it? BF - Oreo also doesn't have brake also. He just slides away. I have been leaving Oreo out to sleep as well and no accident so far. He hold from 12am till i bring him out in the morning at abou 7.15am. Well at least the cat and Zoe is having a good time playing chase. HAHA. I was teaching Oreo to place his paw on our legs and we add a cue "friend". I think this will be a crowd pleaser. Nic

Bf - does Zoe just walk around and knock into stuff or she knocks when playing around? Poppyx - how big is ur girl? I just weigh my boy and he is 8.5kg. He is 14 weeks and 2 days old. Did you teach your girl a lot tricks to occupy her? I need to teach my boy more tricks. He mastered most of the tricks in 1 day (although he still have to practice in many places). Anyone know where I can find website that teaches tricks to dogs?

Wuffles - I meant he is going to be huge for a border collie. Haha I love medium and large size dogs so it's ok for me.
-
BF - condolences to your daughter. Hope that at least they know what had caused her death. Yeah nowadays Oreo sleeps outside his crate. But in the morning, he keeps licking my gf's face so he have to go into his crate. Haha Lily123 - thanks. Michelle - yeah he is going to be huge. He is weird though. He is afraid of small dogs. When the other small dogs was smelling his butt, he ran away. When he see a big dog, he will go for him. I still have to teach him manners when with other dogs.
-
Michelle - Well Oreo is 8kg at least so he is huge. The shop attendants in the pet shop say he is going to be a big Border Collie because he got a robust build. I went to a dog park and saw a tri-colour sheltie. It was small compared to Oreo. Haha You took that picture while Georgia is sleeping? She's got the "who is looking at me?" look. Haha she is lovely. BF - Poor Zoe. Considering there is so many things that she could knock into, it would be hard to heal. Did you get any suggestions from the vet on how to prevent her from knocking into stuff? Magstar - Thanks. Oreo loves everyone and everyone loves him. My gf's aunties and one of my friends love him so much that they are thinking of buying dogs as well. Haha =P I couldn't dissuade my friend from buying from an accidental pregnancy. I told her that she could get health guarantees and it comes with pedigree papers. I also told her that she will be able to know what her puppy is going to grow up into. But she is convinced that she likes the look of maltese x shih tsu and talking to breeders is so troublesome. Yesterday her boyfriend, her, my gf and I went to choose a puppy. My gf and I helped with choosing a puppy. We did not choose a dominant puppy and a shy puppy. They went for a male puppy and they were very happy. But what I think is that we are happy with the dog we buy and we love the dog. That is good enough. Nic

BF - The dog trainer in puppy school told us that pug has the worst eyesight of all dog breeds so that might explain why she always knock onto stuff. Oreo's eyes are always red and we asked the vet why and she said there is nothing wrong with his eyes. Its just that his eyeball is smaller so we could see the red on the white part of the eyes. ETA: Photos!

It's so exciting to get so many puppies coming! Lindaifa - your baby is so lovely. Has it got a name yet? My boy, Oreo have been impressing everyone with his friendliness. Lol my puppy is weird because he loves males more than females because males play rough with him. He has been sleeping outside his crate for the last 2 days and no accident so far! I am so happy. I have to teach him more tricks now. Other than the basics. He has now picked up "spin" , "in" (for going into his crate) and working on his "give", "take", "stay" and "kiss". HahA

Dol Dogs Favourite Anti-boredom Devices!
nicolatu replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
I used to give kong stuffed with dry kibbles which last for 15 minutes. Now I wet the dry food and squeeze a couple of Oreo' favourite treats in and freeze it. This keeps him occupied for 45minutes max. I did a combination of toilet rolls and cut-up plastic bottles. I cut 2 holes and fold up the ends of the toilet roll. Put a few dry kibbles in and Oreo have so much fun rolling it about and get a treat. After he finish his dry food, he will happily chew the toilet rolls into pieces. That keeps him company for 30minutes at most because of his strong jaw. PS. My puppy plays kong in a weird way. He picks the kong up and drop it over and over again to let the treats drop out. -
Puppy Don't Sleep Outside Crate And Clicker Training
nicolatu replied to nicolatu's topic in Puppy Chat
We have to lock the crate or else he won't sleep. We tried leaving the crate door open for him to go back and sleep but didn't work. We even ignored him and let him play with his toys on his own. We timed it once and he took 5 hours before he goes to sleep in a corner. He just won't sleep and my gf's previous puppies sleep all the time. I am just worried that he doesn't sleep enough. I also tried massaging and talking in a calm voice to him but next minute he is running around. When he is tired and we don't put him in his crate, he will just run around like crazy. My gf and I think he feels uncomfortable because he is tired but he doesn't know he is tired. I load up the clicker for a few times a day. He will look at me so I guess it worked. -
Hi guys, As the topics says, my BC puppy doesn't sleeps when he is outside his crate. He is very tired (can see from his half-open eyes and sleeps immediately when put into his crate) but he just keeps playing with his toys or find something to do. Is there a way to let him sleep while he is outside his crate? How do you know when the puppy knows that when i click, there is food? PS: we got a bed for him to sleep on as well. Thanks Nic

Saxon - totally agree with toilet rolls. It's cheap and good! The other day I cut a couple of holes and sealed the 2 ends and drop a couple of dry kibbles in there. Oreo was having so much fun. Nushie - yeah my gf's toy poodle got stuck while climbing and sprained his ankle. Make sure he can't climb it. BF - woah! Such strong jaws. Have u tried the kong extreme? Haha seems so tough. The kong wubba is good for tug game? Nic
