Hi everyone, I have a puppy shopping list from Dogstardaily's website. I was just wondering where can i get the cheapest stuff and food supply for my new puppy? I am considering getting a playpen, crate, some toys(chew toys, fluffy toys & Kong), Doggy toilet(with fake grass preferred), Water & Food bowl, collar, leash and Lead. My breeder just gave me a food list so i could purchase them myself: Coprice puppy dry, edible chewies and dried liver. I would prefer not to buy from Pet Paradise knowing that they get puppies from BYBers so any other shops is fine for me. Thanks in advance. Nicola

Another Breed Choice Question..for A Workmate
nicolatu replied to pip1981's topic in General Dog Discussion
All i could think of is West Highland Terrier and Japanese Spitz(white fluffies). But i would recommend Jap Spitz because i just love it =P. I did a bit of research on Jap Spitz. I quoted all these from the Dog Breed 101 under Japanese Spitz answered by Miss B. They are very happy, lively little dogs and bond very closely with their family. They do not require a lot of exercise, however they are an active breed and enjoy daily walks. Their intelligent nature makes them well-suited to both obedience and agility. If bored, they can be mischievous and are not a breed to be left in the backyard and forgotten. For a dog with a long white coat, they are actually surprisingly low maintenance! Although they love to play and get dirty, the non-stick 'teflon' nature of their coat ensures that any mud or dirt simply dries up and falls out. They are a fastidious breed and, like a cat, will lick themselves clean. They do shed (regular brushing will keep this to a minimum) and should never be clipped. The Japanese Spitz is a very healthy breed, however they can suffer from patella luxation and also suffer from tear-staining. How much grooming are they prepared to do? -

Limit Register And Travelling Overseas

Thanks everyone for your replies. We just came back and won't return in short period of time (at least 4 years). I am just planning ahead before i get my puppy. If i go back for a short period time (~2 weeks) then i think kennelling is a better option as you all have suggested. Thanks once again. It was very helpful. Nicola -
Limit Register And Travelling Overseas
nicolatu replied to nicolatu's topic in General Dog Discussion
What I mean for holiday is that when we go back to our country for school holiday(we are university students), we will bring the pup back as well because we wont leave it here to a dog accommodation(I trust myself more =p). My OH is from Macau and I am from Indonesia. If we were to bring the dog back to holiday, it will probably be to Macau because I am not to keen to bring the dog back to Indonesia(not that clean). We are planning to work here after we graduate so bringing the dog back is a short-term thing. Nicola -
Hi Elsa, Do you mind sending me a copy of the BARF diet as well? Thanks so much. Nicola

Hi everyone, My OH and I are not from Aust and planning to buy a dog from a breeder on DOL. We might go back for holidays and thinking of bringing the dog back with us for holiday. So I was wondering if a pup is on limited register, can we travel with it overseas? Regards, Nicola

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have actually been to an All Breeds Championship Show in KCC park, Victoria. I fell in love with Japanese Spitz when I first saw it in the pet shop so I decided to go with my OH to dog show to see the "adult version" of Jap Spitz. But we were disappointed as the only breeder we saw there only have 2 4months old puppy there. Could not find other Jap Spitz breeders on that day. I did my research before going to the show and asked a lot questions to that breeder we met there. Hope that I am able to find a good breeder. Regards, Nicola

Hi everyone, I heard that many BYBer are getting into DOL so I was just wondering how do you differentiate between the BYBer and non-BYBer? How should I go about asking the right questions about the breed I want to buy? Regards, Nicola

Try Esilanna (QLD) on Dogzonline she just mated a bitch of hers, meaning puppies available around June?? My best Advice is to check out those actively showing on the show results section or ask these people for advice on if they have litter or can help (as not everyone post results but it is a nice guide to start with). A lot of backyard breeders popping into the breed now and advertising on Dogzonline, so remember to ask all the right questions. Good Luck. Hi, I have never own a dog before so I am not sure what "right questions" I should ask. Can you please lead me? All i know is to ask for all the necessary health cerfiticates. Other than this, what should I ask? What specific questions about Japanese Spitz should I ask? How do you differentiate between BYBer and a good registered breeder? Sorry for the many questions. Nicola

As I have read in many Jap Spitz website, they are low maintenance dog and don't really shed a lot normally (Only once or twice major shed a year). They have to be socialized a lot and if trained not to bark from a young age, they tend not to bark unneccessarily. Thats what I have understood from what i read. Sorry if I am wrong though. I only done my research but have not really taken care of a Jap Spitz.

What's The Most Disgusting Thing Your Dog Has Done?

I was thinking the same!! -
That was freaking cool. There was that "smiled". Was that a Boxer?

I haven't buy a dog yet but doing my research on Shetland Sheepdog and Japanese Spitz. My OH and I are similar to your situation there except that we don't mind grooming our dogs. We are looking at both Shetland Sheepdog and Japanese Spitz as dancinbcs suggested. They are both gorgeous and small in size. Good watch dogs because they will alert their owners of strangers. Both of them shed about twice a year (during change of season). Both are very clean dogs (Jap Spitz will lick their own fur and their "teflon-like fur" will keep dirt off). Go look at Dogs Breed 101 and search for these 2 types of dogs. You will fall in love with them (at least me and my OH did ). And also, depends on what type of look you like. My OH and I don't like "squashed face" (eg pug), we prefer the "wolf-type" (eg siberian husky). Remember a dog is for a 10-15 years. Choose wisely!!

Hi Everyone, I am looking to get a Japanese Spitz. We have approached a breedr and after telling me she got a bitch which is going to be in season soon but I have to wait till August for Japanese Spitz. Its such a long wait!! I am afraid that there are lots of people on her waiting list (she is a famous Jap Spitz breeder). I am not sure that if I wait, I will be able get a puppy or not. Do breeders tell people how many are on their waiting list? Thanks Nicola

I think so have your dog ON A LEASH when kids are around. Teach him to sit when told teach the KIDS how properly to approach a dog/behave around a dog Praise him calmly and profusely for staying in a sit- or at least for having 4 paws on the ground. ANY behaviour you want your dog to do is going to mean work for you, his TRAINER Dogs aren't always automatically calm. they do not know what we want unless we teach them . If any of our dogs roll over, I know we've gone too far You may enjoy reading thru this - it has some good hints/explanations LINK this too LINK Those links you provided were very good. Hope they are able to teach a dog proper manners(I still haven't got my puppy yet but that should help). Thanks for that. Nicola

"feed them to the new puppies as 'raw meat' ". This can't be true though. Dogs don't feed on dog meat. They don't even chew on dog bones.

Thanks for that!

nicolatu replied to Freshstart16's topic in General Dog Discussion
That was so sad. I think that is probably what the dogs in shelters is thinking of. Hope the dogs in shelters get another chance of getting a second home. Hope that people don't buy puppies just for their cuteness!!! They are our companions for life! -
Just have to love that Samoyed. LOL! priceless.
