This is what I came home to a couple of weeks ago.. Hmm, I love how the culprit sits there amongst the mess, so I could take a "mug shot".. Looks so innocent. Naughty Boy, but I love him.

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed.. Maverick (Malamute Cross Border Collie) & Oliver (Cat), have a very special friendship! When Maverick is inside with us, Oliver will come up to Maverick (while all the other cats scatter) and he will start smooching with him. Oliver just loves to cuddle into Maverick and go to sleep. Very Cute! (Sorry for image quality, taken on my phone) Does anyone else have dogs and cat (or other animals) that share that special friendship?

How Did Your Pet Get Its Name?
MavericksMission replied to crazyboutdogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well here we go... Maverick (Malamute Cross Border Collie) - Only name that we both could agree on! & he just looked like a Mr Maverick Tinka (Kelpie) - I named her when I was two years old, from the back of a Bananas in Pajamas book. (Rest in peace ) Jay Jay (Three Legged Cat) - Named after one of the hospital cats at work Jeffery, when he was hit by a car and brought into work as a stray at 6 months old hence Jay Jay (Jeffery Junior) Oliver (Cat) - Tiny stray kitten when he came into work, named after the little ginger kitten in the Disney movie Oliver and Company. Miki (Cat) - Mums cat, named after Archangel Michael, but gets called Miki. Jelly (Cat) - I was going through a phase.. Kiarla (Cat) - From work as a kitten, name I had never heard before, just sort of popped into my head. He nickname is Snarly Karly as she can be a bit of a naughty torti! So thats my Motley Crew -
Thats Brilliant!!

Where Are Your Dogs When You're On Dol?
MavericksMission replied to poochmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
He is currently lying with his head on my feet ;) And Oliver (my ginger cat) is cuddled into him! ;) -
It's just so cruel. It's like forcing them to face their greatest fears, but in a way that just makes them more terrified of it. It has taken Maverick months to get used to the water and I still going in with him to show him how great it is! Some people really shouldn't own an animal!

aw how cute! and what a good girl for letting it use her as its mummy.

We took Maverick down to the beach this evening for a little paddle. He has just learnt that he can swim and he is very proud of himself! While Maverick was having his little paddle, running in and out of the shallow water.. (We keep Maverick on a lead or a long piece of rope, as he is still learning recall) A couple of meters up the beach there was this couple with their two dogs, a little JRT and a Collie. The JRT was loving the water, having a great time.. the Collie not so sure. He was very, very hesitant to go into the water. Then the owners decided that they would drag him in! He was yelping and trying to pull back on the lead, but they just kept pulling! He was clearly distressed and did not want to going into the water. Not only were they dragging him in, when he was yelping and pulling back on the lead they were yelling at him and it looked like they wanted to hit him, but they looked around and saw all the other people around watching them! If this was his first time at the beach, it is not a great start because now he is going associate the beach as a bad place where he feels uncomfortable. Poor dog. Some people make me so upset! Sorry, just had to vent..

Thank You all for your kind words and advice. I will certainly not rush into it, if the right furry friend comes along then it is meant to be. I will be a strong leader for him, and yeah it is a good chance to continue work on his training, to keep his mind stimulated and to teach him some more manners. Thank You

My old girl Tinka crossed over the Rainbow Bridge Today. She was 16 years young. I had to make the hardest decision of my life, and I had her euthanized. She has really bad arthritis and this morning she couldn't support herself. It was actually my young boy (13 months) Maverick, who alerted me that Tinka was in pain. It was about 8:30am this morning and I could hear howling, (Maverick is a Malamute Cross, but he never, ever howls!) I looked out my bedroom window and he was sitting at my bedroom window howling away and when I made eye contact with him he ran over to Tinka. I raced out the back and saw that Tinka was having difficulty supporting her self. Anyway, after alot of tears, we raced her into the Animal Hospital, where we decided that the kindest thing would be to put her to sleep. After alot of decisions, tears and relief we returned home. I went out the back to see how Maverick was. He was pacing around the back yard looking quite upset looking for Tinka. He didn't want to come near us, he was determined that he would find her. He is currently inside by my feet. I was wondering if it would be too early to get another dog, I don't want to "replace" her. I feel Maverick needs a friend, he has only ever lived with another dog, but how soon is too soon? I under stand that dogs grieve just like humans. Any opinions would be very welcomed and appreciated. Thank You. Rest in Peace Tinka my angel.

My Sweet Little Girl Crossed The Rainbow Bridge Today
MavericksMission replied to MavericksMission's topic in Rainbow Bridge
Thank you tlc. She was at a grand age, and I enjoyed every moment spent with her. I am having a little bit of trouble posting photos on here. I was going to add a photo of her to this thread but just couldn't figure out how to make them small enough to fit. -
Tinka crossed the rainbow bridge today. She was 16 years young. She has been my best friend for my whole life, I got her when I was two years old. She is now playing with all the other puppies and is enjoying her life pain free up in doggy heaven. Rest in peace Tinka, I love you so much. Here is a picture of my beautiful girl, taken a couple of years ago.

Maverick loves his FuzzYard fleas! Although I am constantly replacing them because he loves them a little bit too much...

Anyone Else Have A Broken Dog?
MavericksMission replied to ~*Shell*~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Maverick was lying upside down, on his back with all four paws in the air, when it was bucketing down on Thursday night! Rather cute! He was soaked to the bone, so I had to spend half an hour towel drying him before he could come inside.. He loved it. -
I usually take Maverick to Pet Stock DIY Pet Wash $1 per minute. Usually takes about $9 to wash Maverick (he is heavy coated!) and that is Pre Rinse, Shampoo, Rinse, Flea Treatment & Heavy duty dryer Or if I want a quick wash and towel dry I just take him into work for the day and use the hydro bath in here

We use Urine Off when Maverick has a whoopsie on the carpet

Oh I did hear about that! Thanks for the reminder!!

I bought a Mini Wheelie Bin, It holds 20kg of Maverick's dry food. It is easy to move around as it is on wheels and it is a lovely lime green colour It was something like $20 from Target
