  1. I'm asking on behalf of a friend. She has a Kelpie Cross puppy, (very much like Hector) He is 12 weeks. He isn't a big eater and he is starting to look a bit bit thin for a pup. He isn't a fan of puppy wet food (like Hector) and he will have a few bites of his kibble (Royal Canin I think) but not very much.. Is there a good food for helping a puppy put on weight? She is concerned, she has had him at the vet and they said that he is healthy, but could have a bit more weight on him.. Any suggestions?
  2. Thanks everyone. I will look into each of the cameras you have recommended and see which one would be best for me! I am currently using an iPhone camera! So anything will be better.. xx
  3. There are a couple around these days that are associated with different shelters. The shelters send out some of their cats and dogs for rehoming and all the proceeds go back to the shelters. Not sure if I allowed to write who they are (forum rules?) but there are definitely some around. I guess it is a big step closer to not selling animals at all.. that would be fantastic if they wouldn't..
  4. 6 out of the 8 pups in Maverick's Puppy Preschool were oodles! I can't talk because both on my dogs are cross breeds.. But.. they are shelter dogs! Not "designer" oodle dogs! I have a Koolie Cross Husky - Hector and a Malamute Cross Border Collie - Maverick I love them to bits! In no way do I support backyard breeders or the breeding of "designer dogs" I think saving a life in a shelter is okay tho.. I know there are probably a lot of people that don't agree tho.. each to there own!
  5. Hello Fellow DOLers.. I'm looking into getting my first ever DSLR camera. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good quality camera for beginners? My price range would probably bee maybe $1800 max.. I'm after a camera which will be good for capturing animals (sitting, running, jumping.. so on ) Any recommendations would be wonderrrrrrful!
  6. Poor, poor Bubba! Hope she heals quickly! Big hugs for her!
  7. Thanks! I like your simple meals.. I think I will follow that and then add bits and pieces he needs as we go along! thank you so, so much for your time!
  8. Thanks Charleswentworth! I am going to try feeding him on my own raw diet (when I can finally figure out a balanced one! ) But I will definitely remember the BARF stuff. I will also remember the sardines idea too! (I'm half vegetarian.. so we will see how all these "tongues, brains, spleens and liver things go down, that I have seen in the other posts )
  9. Thanks Heaps Elsa!! Much appreciated!! Okay so, tablespoon of plain yoghurt in each meal? Also with the egg, how often do I put that into his meal? or should I just add the egg in the blender with all the vegies? I will probably make some to last me a couple of nights.. I will swap his bikkies onto a much better dry food. I just had Science Diet to last him for a couple of nights till I could by him some dry food in bulk. Sorry for all the questions. I just don't want to leave anything important out of his diet as he is a growing boy! Thanks heaps!!!
  10. Okay, so I am new to this raw diet stuff.. but very interested!! I have a 10week old pup at the moment. I want to put him on a raw diet of mince & vege. (plus chicken necks & bones as treats) Would it be okay to put a puppy this young onto a raw diet.. Also would the be nutrients/supplements that I will have to add for a growing pup? Also.. (sorry for all the questions..) does it have to be pet mince or can I by human mince? Any help would be muchly appreciated!
  11. Alright guys another feeding question (you guys are always so good with answers to these questions!) So I have found out the my new little addition Hector is into the whole raw meat and vegies idea. He doesn't want a bar of puppy food. Hills Science Diet Dry he doesn't mind a couple of them but not enough for a meal.. So I am going to start buying him mince, Beef or Chicken. Also Chicken Necks. He will also get raw bones. Is there nutrients and or supplements that I should be adding to his meal for a growing pup? He is currently 10 weeks old. Also I know that Onions are a big No No! Potato is questionable, Grapes & sultanas are also No No's.. should I watch out for anything else in particular? I have heard that Pumpkin is really good for them.. should it be raw or cooked? Really appreciate all your help Sorry for all the questions.. I just want to get the best for my fur family... ;)
  12. Maverick loves the rain. He likes to lie on his back with all four legs in the air in the rain! Silly boy!
  13. Thanks Persephone I do feed Hector inside and Maverick outside. I think your right, It is probably a settling in thing, I will keep and eye on it! Cheers
  14. Wow Yes he is being fed what he was feeding on before I got him. He gets Breakfast & Dinner. (lunch if I am home from work) I have only had him home a couple of days, he gets his treats that I used for training, no bones yet. He only gets backyard exercise as he hasn't had his final puppy vacc yet. He does seem more keen to eat his training treats rather than his meal, I only give him a small amount of treats, in hope that he will eat his meal. He doesn't chew the sticks very often, he only wanted it because Maverick had it. I have checked his mouth for sores, cuts and ulcers. Hope these answers can help you with some advice to help me! Thank You!
  15. Hi Guys, Just a quick question. My new little pup isn't really a big eater, he will eat a tiny bit and then he walks off. He is 9 weeks old. What are peoples views on taking away the food after a certain amount of time? Could it be that he actually doesn't like the food? If I could have some suggestions, ideas on how I could get him to eat some more, that would be great! I have done the whole add warm water and microwave to enhance the smells, but it doesn't really do much for him.. At the moment he is on Optimum wet and dry food (I know not the best... ) Thanks Fellow DOLers! Here is my little man Hector!
  16. I was walking past a pet shop the other day and in the window the was.. Cavoodle Pups Golden Retriever Pups Pugaliers and Purebred Mutts!!?! Yep thats what they were listed as.. PUREBRED Mutts I wanted to take a photo but the shop people were in the window showing them to buyers... The looked like they were maybe Heeler Crosses? Purebred Mutts.. must be a very rare breed.. ;)
  17. Oh she is soooo cute!! Maverick also loves Watermelon! It makes a great treat in summer!
  18. Belgian - Maverick loves Oliver (ginger cat) and Oliver loves Maverick Hector is still learning, the cats put him in his place and he has learnt to have a quick sniff and then leave them alone! The cats don't mind them, they just walk around the boys. How exciting about dog number 2! Do you know what sort of breed you are after?
  19. :D Lots of entertainment! Oh yes, the cats are putting Hector in his place! :D
