  1. I Loved Puppy Stage! (still currently going through it with Hector 14 weeks young) I love the puppy breath, the puppy pre school, puppy play! Everything about it! Hector has been a god send to toilet train, got the hang of it in 2 nights! Hector at 13 weeks! Maverick when he was 8 weeks, first day home!
  2. Just beware of the warmer months there have recently been lots of tiger snake sightings around the lake and river area :D Thanks for the heads up!
  3. We take Maverick and Hector down to Presidents Park, in Wyndham. It is off leash and it has a big clean lake in the middle where the dogs love to have a splash! There are also lots of other tracks there, and a river/creek too! It is a large open space, with plenty of room for lots of doggies to run around and play! We also take them down to the beach in Werribee, they quite like it there, but only when there is not too many waves!!
  4. He is not on the lead when I am restraining him. Just sitting on the floor or the couch. He does know how to sit, drop and stay. He is fine when he is just sitting or laying, but if I have to restrain him (put a little pressure to hold him still) for the vet he just whines and whines.
  5. My 14 week old, Koolie Cross Husky puppy whines whenever he is restrained. I am trying to get him used to being restrained and held, for when he goes to the vets. When I lightly restrain him, wether it be holding him on my lap, holding him on the floor or lying him down on the floor.. he continuously whines.. Not in pain, just like a whining noise and he does not stop. I try not let go when he whines, I don't want him to think that if he whines, I will let go, therefore he wins! Has anyone experienced this? Will he grow out of it? Should I keep persisting? Any ideas?
  6. mm Back to the trainers we go! Thanks guys!!
  7. I have done some work with dog trainers. He pulled through the halti tonight when he saw this lady who was looking threatening who was coming towards me waving her hands in the air, He pulled backwards, sort of like bucking on the lead and then he surged forward. I like the the sound of the easy walk harness and the "balance lead", So I will definitely give both a try.
  8. Thanks GayleK! I will look into the Easy Walk harness! I have used normal harnesses... but they make the pulling worse!
  9. Thank You I Will Post In There! Yes I have been shown how to use both Halti and Check Chain
  10. Maverick has broken through 2 halti's now... He broke through one when he was at the groomers (after I told them not to leave it on him) & Then he broke through one tonight when he saw someone he didn't like the look of and he started going crazy, jumping around. He walks well on the halti, although he is a very, very strong dog and he still likes to try a pull! (but we are working on it) Does anyone have any suggestions on what is good product for strong pulling dogs? I have tried check chains, but they get caught in his long hair and either cause discomfort and don't work effectively. Flat collars are a big no, no! he is way to strong! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! xx
  11. I use Urine Free for little accidents, I find it really effective for getting rid of the smell and stains!

  13. Thanks guys! I will try the chicken wings as well, the chicken necks are pretty big from our supermarket, but he is a pretty big puppy. He is a Koolie Cross Husky. Currently about 14 weeks old. He does actually give the necks a bit of a chew before swallowing, and I do watch him like a hawk, just in case.. Thanks for all the advice xx
  14. Thanks for the tips! Should I add those things in with the chicken necks every now and again or make up a separate meal mix?
  15. (also posted in health & nutrition section) Hi Guys Just a quick question! Is it okay to feed dogs chicken necks everyday? At the moment I am feeding Hector, Cup of Nutro Dry in the morning and then 1/2 Cup of Nutro dry and 4 - 5 chicken necks for dinner. Is this okay to feed that amount for a growing pup? I had alot of problems getting him to eat when he first can home, now he eats really well with the above meals! He will also get a bone every now again to replace a meal Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

  20. Lort Smith Animal Hospital have a program called Heart & Home. If people choose to be part of the program, when they pass away, their animals will be taken into the shelter where they will go into foster carer permanently or stay there until they can find them a forever home where they can live out the rest of their days. Lort Smith Animal Hospital do no put animals to sleep unless they have a serious temperament issue, where it is putting the staff and or other animals at serious risk. Edited - Opps, didn't realize you were is NSW
  21. Mine are both exactly like me.. Noisy, Excitable, Messy... NUTCASES! :D
  22. Wonderful! Thanks guys! I will pass it on! And I will use the information for myself as well for little Hector. According to the weight guide at the vet (the picture one) Hector is "Fit" He does do alot of running aorund and playing so I guess he would be burning fat as well doing that :D Thanks guys, knew I could count of you guys for advice!
