  2. Me Again! I was just wondering if anyone owns or has used the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS? I'm looking at getting a powerful point & shoot, for taking places that I don't/can't carry around my big DSLR & lenses. My cousin has a similar model and I had a quick play with that on Christmas Day, must say I was pretty impressed! This camera has 35x Optical Zoom & it is 14.1 megapixels. Her is the link anyway for anyone who would like to have a look and or give an opinion! Linky Cheers wonderful photography DOLers
  3. Wow, Some amazing photos in here! I feel I have personally achieved alot this year, I got my first DSLR and it all went from there. These would have to be 3 of my favourites (unedited) Maverick Tiger Cub Red Panda Cub
  4. We had them done free through work.. Maverick's came back as Siberian Husky. Hector's came back as Staffy.. (yes he is a cross breed.. but he looks nothing like a staffy!) I wouldn't of paid to have it done. We had a dog come through the shelter that was great dane in appearance and came back as a toy poodle..
  5. Their last facebook update was that the council is not letting them open until possibly tuesday next week. ETA: Extract from Facebook Page "Trish responded to the councils wishes, it was thought a permit was going to be reissued today - this did not happen even though we have done as asked. The council said they wanted this to be resolved yet they think next Tuesday may or may not be the day. Trish is dying, she is a complete basket case, she is trying to be brave but lost it today"
  6. Just gorgeous, lovely family photo and a beautiful memory of Tobias
  7. Very Interesting.. LINK Media Release - 14 December 2010 Macedon Ranges Shire Council has issued Pets Haven Animal Shelter in Woodend with a Notice to Comply following breaches of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 Code of Practice. Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s Director Assets and Operations, Dale Thornton said Council has been working with Pets Haven to address numerous outstanding compliance issues that were identified in an audit of the premises in May 2009. “Over 18 months ago, Council, in partnership with the proprietor, implemented a work plan to address several issues relating to animal handling and housing, facility maintenance and administration procedures,” he said. “The work plan outlined the compliance issues and requirements that Pets Haven was required to meet; and ongoing inspections and audits were carried out by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) as part of this process,” he said. “There were several outstanding compliance issues and Council has been requesting for over 18 months now that these issues be addressed and supporting documentation be provided,” he said. “Multiple letters and notices were issued to Pets Haven over the last 18 months and the most recent request for information was due in November, but to date we have not received the documentation,” he said. “Council has been supportive and patient with the owner for a long time, over 18 months in fact, and following consultation with DPI it was felt that it was in the best interests and welfare of the animals to issue the notice to comply,” he said. The notice informs Pets Haven Animal Shelter that to remedy the breach the shelter must immediately stop selling animals from the premises in High St, Woodend, effective 13 December 2010. “Council officers have been in contact with the proprietor and outlined what is required in order the meet compliance,” he said. “Council acknowledges the hard work and effort of Pets Haven and its staff, but in the best interests of the animals, there are certain standards and legislative requirements that must be met,” he said. “Council will continue to work with the proprietor, focusing on what needs to be carried out in order for the shelter to be compliant in all areas,” he said.
  8. Omg! I have tears running down my face! ;) ;)
  9. to start shuffling them around out of phblic view during a council investigation IS hiding them. As you know the council came without warning. The fostering was taking place before the council came along as I am sure you know. She was given warning.. A letter & 2 phone calls..
  10. I don't know anything about PH, but this comment is inaccurate. Dogs are allowed to be at foster carers - they aren't hidden. The permit is for dogs on the property. I understand you have issues with them and if only 50% of what is said on here is true then they need some serious work done (and not just donations, but mgt and processes etc). However, let's stick to the facts... They are hidden when she is writing on the facebook pages to keep it quite that they have animals in their homes.
  11. she has more then nine dogs. have a look at her website and pet rescue. they are all hidden at foster carers houses & her property. she also said on her facebook page the other day that she has over 200 cats!!
  12. I can't foster, but is there anything that I could do to help? This is so cruel for them to this right before Christmas. The animals are in lockdown. Not allowed to leave the shelter as yet..
  13. I agree, I didn't like what I saw. Maybe if she followed the codes of practice for shelters and didn't hide everything, the council & DPI wouldn't be after her..
