  1. So sorry for your loss T Run Free Zeddy
  2. Maverick (malamute x b'collie) & Willow (westie x) eat next to each other on kibble nights, there's never any issues and Willow is generally finished first as Mav likes to chew each piece of kibble one by one.. Higher value dinners that involve chicken wings, necks or frames ect Maverick eats outside & Willow eats inside. My whippet puppy who is now 5.5 months eats all her meals in her crate in the same room but away from the other guys.
  3. Dogs need to go to pounds, that is where their owners will find them, not in peoples backyards. I'm sort of uneasy about people posting found animals on Facebook since last week we (I work at a shelter) had a pure bred entire British Bulldog brought into us as a stray and the finder had posted on Facebook with a photo and full description of the dog and where he was take to, he wasn't microchipped and we ended up with 5 -6 calling up saying that he was their dog, some providing google stock images as their proof. We are only a holding facility for strays and he was transferred to the appropriate pound but it ended up very messy. I personally will call numbers on tags and door knock and then take to a vet clinic/pound to be scanned for a chip.
  4. Mine stay inside whilst I'm at work & my whippet baby was coming to work so she could have her lunchtime feed up until very recently. Now she stays home with Maverick & Willow and she's in a large play pen area inside and has a kong wobbler to disperse her lunch feed as she's not a gutsy eater. I only work three days a week.
  5. LINK LINK From link: ''ONE of Victoria’s most shocking puppy farms has been shut down after its owners pleaded guilty to 240 charges of animal cruelty. Pyramid Hill breeder Dean Peace, and his parents John and Phyllis Peace, had 235 dogs on their farm when it was raided by the RSPCA, Loddon Shire Council and police in 2013. They found dogs living in wire cages filled with their own excrement, their hair matted with faeces and urine as the stench of ammonia filled the air. Poodles, beagles, spaniels and golden retrievers were living in conditions described as “rancid”, “putrid” and a “cesspool”, RSPCA prosecutor Trish Riddell told Kerang Magistrates’ Court. The Peace family sold 570 puppies for more than $250,000 to pet shops in Richmond and Maribyrnong between July 2011 and December 2013. The dogs were kept in wire cages and in one shed, Ms Riddell said: “There was no place for the dogs to go to escape their own waste.” Vet checks revealed dogs were underweight and malnourished and suffered from ear infections, dental diseases, heart murmurs, hernias and skin conditions. A 5-year-old poodle’s entire coat was matted with faeces and it couldn’t be handled without sedation because it was “terrified of people”, Ms Riddell said. The case against the Peace family was also the first time the RSPCA successfully prosecuted someone for failing to provide adequate socialisation and enrichment to animals. There were no toys at the property, the dogs were given nowhere to play and they were never walked or exercised. Many dogs had insufficient food, which was found scattered on the floor, and water bowls were rusted and filled with algae. Dean Peace pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges. RSPCA inspectorate manager Allie Jalbert led the raids on the property and said it was “worse than anything I had imagined”. She said many of the dogs feared human contact and had to be sedated to receive emergency vet care. There were also two charges of aggravated cruelty relating to two four-week-old poodles. One pup’s tail had been severed and was covered in faeces and the other pup had to be euthanised after suffering an infected tail base and a prolapsed rectum. Similarly horrific conditions were uncovered in several further raids on the Pyramid Hill farm during 2014. The Peace family also tried to hide dozens of dogs in unregistered cages on a neighbour’s property. Dean Peace, 46, pleaded guilty to 79 cruelty offences, and the family’s company also accepted another 77 charges. His parents John Peace, 75, and Phyllis Peace, 74, both pleaded guilty to 42 charges. John and Dean Peace also pleaded guilty to separate charges brought by Loddon Shire Council. All the dogs have since been surrendered to the RSPCA, with the ownership of another 101 dogs handed over on Thursday. Ms Jalbert said many dogs had been rehomed after months of expensive vet care and behavioural therapy" Jason Gullaci, for the Peace family, said they had been “incapable” of running a breeding business and had their “head in the sand”. Mr Gullaci said Dean was nearly killed in car accidents in 1998 and 2007 but his parents chose to keep the business alive because it brought him “great joy”. Mr Gullaci said Mr Peace, who started breeding dogs in 1996, was told by doctors he would be “unemployable” elsewhere. “The business is now totally gone. It’s closed,” Mr Gullaci said.
  6. I have one of the beds from THIS LINK If you remove the cushion it's fairly deep if that's the sort of thing he was after. It's really well made, I've had it for years and it gets lots of use from my dogs & cats :)
  7. So many cute puppies! Willow at 15 weeks when I adopted her.. And Maverick at about 9 weeks..
  8. LINK to the show if anyone who wants to watch it missed it. So appalling.
  9. I'm in Werribee, I'll keep an eye out. I'll also keep an eye out at work in case he is handed in. Good luck, hope he comes home safe and quickly.
  10. Oh no. This is so sad, poor little girl would've been so frightened and confused and then for it to end after days like that. That's what breaks my heart the most Kirislin, those days of terror she experienced for the 5 days before this heartbreaking outcome
  11. Megsy has joined her sister at the rainbow bridge after being struck by a car late last night
  12. The foster carer has been out searching also, unfortunately they live a few hours away so can't be down here as often as they'd like. If there is a sighting of her they are called down to try and catch her.
  13. Yes Save a Dog have been informed, as have all the other pounds and shelters just in case someone who manages to catch her doesn't know of Save a Dog, they have been great. The Rangers and the police have also been helping out plus a massive communitee support. Praying she is found safe today before it starts heating up again.
  14. Megsy is still missing, she was sighted this morning at approx 11am around the Coles shopping centre carpark at Tooronga & Toorak Road, Glan Iris heading along the creek/parkland towards Nettleton Park. So terrified she just kept running and running at the sight of people
  15. **Please move this if not okay posting here, was just hoping for more traffic. Missing from Glen Iris, Victoria. Megsy the rescue dog has been missing since Friday 2/1 morning. She has been in foster care for many months but had only been in her trial forever home for less than 24hrs before she escaped so she is not at all familiar with the area. She went missing with her friend Millie who devastatingly was found passed away on the train lines in the area she went missing Megsy is a miniature poodle, approx 18 months, female desexed, microchipped. She is very terrified and has no road sense what so ever as she was still learning how to be a dog. She has been on the run for 2 days now, we are praying she has survived the horrible heat and roads around the area. Emma 0402771736 or Meg 0414673435 from Kaya's Mission if you have any leads or sightings of this little girl. LINK to her facebook thread if you would like to share. Many thanks! Please no negative comments, we just really want this girl home safe and sound ASAP. ETA: spelling.
  16. Rottweiler for me! Won't be for a few years, but eventually I will, amazing dogs
  17. Maverick always reminds me of Gandalf the wizard, especially in that photo. He is wise, knowledgeable and calm. :) He is one of the wisest dogs I have ever met, he has an old soul and will sometimes just sit and stare into my eyes for what feels like hours. He just always seems to know exactly when I need that too..
  18. Willow's constant over the top excited love for life.. Maverick's wise, calming and loyal personality.. and his eyes!
  19. We have extra few days of bereavement leave at work for our pets. I do work in an animal shelter and if we have a particularly hard loss of a shelter dog we are entitled to take it then too..

  22. Hey all :) I don't post much anymore but I was sort of hoping someone would be able to help me out. I took this photo of my friends dog and she loves it but I would really like to remove the green reflective tinge under his chin.. I'm not very savvy with Lightroom.. If I sent someone the full sized image could someone have a quick tweek for me and send it back, I would be forever grateful! Or if someone wants to link me to a tutorial to show me how to do it in lightroom3 that would also be fine.. Thanks in advance!!
  23. Bella is stunning ------ I just have a pack of two crazy canines :) Well also 8 cats, 4 guinea pigs & currently 5 foster kittens but I don't want to overload the thread with all of them! I'd very much love to have a Rotti in my life when the time is right.
