  1. such awesome captures Kirislin!
  2. :) I think the Mandrill shot is great, except for the colour. I can't quite figure it out, you can't tell if it's meant to be B&W or selective colouring etc, so in that shot I'd bring back the real colouring (as their colour is also what is great about them). First Tiger shot has a fence, I ditch them. Second Tiger shot I LOVE, it's great, great composition. Nice pose with the Lemur, whites are a bit blown out though. I'd be darkening that background so their eyes stand out. Snow Leopard same as Tiger....when there are bars in view, I ditch. Otter shot is lovely, I'd do some selective adjustments on just his/her face, it's a bit dark. :) !! Appreciate it and will take it all on board! :D
  3. Feel free to critique mine please Tess! :)
  4. Glad the camera store exchanged them straight away for you :) I have just ordered my new camera and lenses through CameraPro. Hopefully everything goes smoothly!
  5. I love going to the Zoo to do some photography! Mine aren't nearly as good as yours, but I feel I'm getting better every time! :)
  6. So sorry for your loss Run Free Dante
  7. Awesome, thank you so much! :D
  8. !! Glad you are still loving the camera. I will be using it for animal photography mainly with the odd casual family event thrown in the mix. I was going to go over budget and get the D800, but I think it's a bit overboard for my needs, when I could use the extra dollars to buy some good lenses! Will definitely get the 50mm as used that lens a lot currently on my Canon; When looking online there was 50mm 1.8D & 50mm 1.8G, can I ask what the difference is? Sorry for all the questions!
  9. Are you still loving the D700 Huga? I'm thinking of jumping ship and going to Nikon and D700 is one of the cameras I have been look at. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind! If you had the extra funds would you have gotten the D800? Which Nikon lenses do you recommend as I don't have any? Thanks :)
  10. Also comparing the same photos shot with Canon and Nikon and the same setting etc the picture quality was pretty huge in Nikons favour!
  11. I've had the 7D for probably a year now. I do like it a lot, I just found when playing around with a friends Nikon I liked that more. The D800 preforms amazingly in low light, which was a big thing for me. The Nikon felt like a sturdier, strong camera (although a little heavier) I'm still just throwing the idea around, but the more I read up on the Nikon, the more I am liking it. Thanks for the invite for the Whippet day, it's a little far away but I will try and make it if I can! :)
  12. Thanks for the replies. Yep was looking on POTN and that's where they suggested a screw loose and to just snap it off as it is a cheap lens. Have been wriggling and applying pressure for 2 days now I may have to give in and take it to a camera repair shop. I did pop into Ted's camera shop yesterday when I was at the plaza and the 2 people in there said that they have never seen anything like that and he had a fiddle and couldn't get it off either! I'm in the process of possibly buying a Nikon camera after playing with a friend's D700, so may just keep the 7D with the 50mm on it and get it fixed later down the track..
  13. Has anyone had this problem before... My 50mm 1.8 is stuck on my 7D camera body! I have googled and on a couple of camera forums people are saying that it is probably a screw loose and just to snap the lens off rather than pay approx $500 to send it away to have it fixed! Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it? I use the 50mm lens 90% of the time, but I was just about to buy a macro lens, which will be now no good if I can't put it on the body! Any suggestions?
  14. Great pics K9! Some brilliant captures there! I'm about to buy a Macro Lens, I'm planning on getting the 100mm 2.8L Macro :) MACRO LENS
  15. Very cute puppies with very cute names!
  16. As a cat owner, I feel that it is my responsibility to keep them safe and contained at all times. I would be devastated if that happened to one of my cats, but I wouldn't blame the dog for doing something they do by instinct, on their own property. We have a stray cat who comes and sits on our back fence every night and teases the dogs. Maverick get VERY upset that this cat comes by every night. The cat doesn't have a collar, I am thinking of possibly setting a cat trap so I can take him to the pound as unfortunately I do know what Maverick would do if managed to catch him..
  17. May be able to come along for the first time in a long time if it is the 6th or the 20th. My newest addition, three legged Willow could do with some more dog socialisation, will bring Maverick too and see how he behaves himself :)
  18. Just plain kibble here, normally their small breakfast meal :)
  19. Currently have 2 pooches. Malamute-ish Cross & a Westie Pup. Also have 8 cats, 4 guinea pigs, 4 green tree frogs & a never ending supply of fosters :)
