  1. Cross posted from the show section, results for today Highlighter in red - that is my Furia. Totally stoked!!!
  2. If I had an exceptional pup I would not be selling it, but keeping it myself.
  3. 6 weeks I left my adult dogs in care of my ex husband (in my house) and my, then, 11 week old puppy with a friend of mine at her place. The adults were very happy to see me of course and the pup remembered me and was also all over me. Mind you A LOT bigger :D
  4. Oh, I might attend. Very far for me but might be worth the travel. Ive been feeding my dogs VAN for years, my puppies are raised on VAN (amongst other raw foods) and I give each puppy buyer a VAN puppy sample. VAN - I use a lot of your product and buy it in bulk 25kg lots. Where is the cheapest place I can get it? Online is good if they will send it out to me.
  5. No, I'm not talking about Mals and Dobes on the sleave. I'm commenting on your general statement about animals in prey drive having a CALM grip. Shaking is part of killing and its only natural that the animal does it, especially when it grabs a small prey. If a wolf grabs a rabbit I have no doubt it will shake it to kill it. I don't think its safe to assume that the said wolf has a poor nerve costume just because it shakes the prey. Thats all.
  6. My first inspiration came from a trainer at a, back than, local club. I dont know her name!!! She comptes in agility with kelpies and I ahve seen her at a show couple of times. I was amazed at what her dog could do when I first went with Rex to the obedience classes. Watching her train had me standing with open mouth :D wishing that one day I can be half as good.
  7. Where I dont totally disagree with this statement, I would like to point out to you that when a prey animal bites (in prey drive) it will also often shake the prey in order to kill it. I think that the shaking can hardly be called CALM. So to follow on from that, do you suggest that those animals that shake are of a poor nerve?
  8. Best not to buy two dogs of the same age.
  9. http://www.smh.com.au/executive-style/motors/thieves-foiled-after-luxury-car-shuts-down-20111108-1n4ec.html Yeah, cops got to send the dog, woo hoo
  10. Took the ferrals there again today and looked for possible escape places, there are two sections where the fence is 5ft, so no major dramas, OH will put some wires for now, to make it higher. We also blocked the spot where Divani tried to attempt to jump the 6 ft gate and she has not tried today. Dogs totally love the place, run around so happy, roll in the grass and follow me everywhere. Of course Furia started to guard, after all we've been there about 3 times, must be some important place ;-)
  11. The idea is that they have the yard to themselves. This was one of the reasons I bought this house, so that the dogs could have more room. So Im not going to build them runs that are smaller then my old backyard, what would be the point of moving miles away from the city, and having more land? I might make some of the fences higher, but most are already 6ft.
  12. We will take them there this weekend again and Ill put their bedding there as well, so they have something very familiar.
  13. So I sold my old house and bougth a new one. The new house is on a large block of land (3000 square meters) and has colorbond fencing all around, 6ft most parts but also some 5ft. I took the dogs there twice now as I have the keys early, and they loved the space. They were locked up behind the gate when we humans were unloading stuff into the garage and obviously wanted to join us. One of my girls can almost scale the 6ft gate, she hasnt managed as yet, thankfully. I have another 4 weeks of the transition period and want to ensure that they start to think of that place as our new home and dont freak out when I one day leave them there to go to work. I cant live in the new house as yet, I can only go there to clean up, and can store some of my stuff, so until its all settled officially we will not be staying overnight there, only visits. Any tips on how to make the trasition easier for the ferrals?? Crappy pic of the new yard and some fencing
  14. Oh that sucks. I love that park!!! And its big enough for many dogs to have space and not interact. Im moving away from the area in a months time but would be sad for the people that continue to use the park. Ive been an instructor at the ob club there for several years, you get an occassional loose lead dog interupting the class but overal its a great park!
  15. Yup my neighbours just got themselves a maltese x shih tzu x poodle They paid $950 from a "registered' breeder and the dog has papers. This is after I gave them a lecture on who not to buy from, dragged them to Spring Fair where they met with a lovely maltese breeder and ordered a puppy for $900. The puppy they were going to get has a totally wrong bite and was therefore discounted. They became worried about the bite and went elswhere. cute white fluffy is what they were after...... and they got one. I couldnt belive it. :banghead:
  16. Its wholesaler that supplies meat for human consumption, I eat the same mince as my dogs :D
  17. Its in Hurstville, I cant recall the street name, it runs off Princess Hwy to the left, about 2-3 streets before Office works in Carlton (traveling to the city) Little industrial area with lots of smash repair shops etc
  18. My dogs LOVE chicken that is slightly off, I would hae fed it to them. Anyway - I buy most of my meat from Human butches, as any chicken shop for a box of carcasses and they will sell it to you pretty cheap, I buy mine $5/10kg at westfields in Hurstville. Also asian butchers sell cheap offcuts. I buy chicken carcass mince from a local chicken shop for $1.20/kg and can get beef mince from a meat wholesaler for about $4/kg.
  19. There is a site somewhere that explains exactly what happens in the ring. Cant for the life of me find it. Can anyone give a link pls?
  20. If he isnt that bad then dont over do it. I Thats in case you go and injure him unintetionally and he has to then rest and not excercise. But I dont think 5km walk/run would be too much. I find that if my dogs run off lead, however they want to, they develop the best
  21. I'd be catching the dogs and taking them to the pound. Few times when they have to pay to get them out should teach them to lock the dogs up in yards
  22. Oh and now that they have tails most will never think it's a dobe
  23. Brown dobe I went to a trial the other day and except the obedience they had a retrieving tests. I rock up at the secretaries table to sign in and the lady says - let me guess you ate here for the gun dog test. I said hmmmm no she is a dobermann. Later on after a trial someone from the public watching came over to congratulate me and says - she is huge. I said yeah big girl. The lady goes / I've never seen such a big pointer. I answered neither did but she isn't a pointer she is a dobermann. Most people dont know that dobes come in brown
