OMG - really??? Do you want K9 as a trainer (and who will ask him? ) or do I get someone else, maybe SARDOG would want to do it? would you Julie?? if someone else I thought I could research those IPO trainers Poles use, at least I could translate...... if we get a German than who will??? This is a huge idea it might never happen but I thought it would be nice to go to some farm, camp for a week and have dog training every day. And be with like minded people holidaying really. But hey Im crazy :D so who has got a farm we can use or do we go to QLD? :D

Maybe I should get this Czech guy they all seem to be in love with him I was considering perhaps organising something like that, I didnt ask any local trainer, nor o/s ones, just having an idea. But such week isnt a job for one person to organise..... so far now its an idea and a question.

Although Rex is a CPX he get a off lead runn each day to use up some of his enenrgy On an odd occasion when I couldnt take him out, becouse I was sick or there was a hurcane and rain for aweek he would start to be annoying. I ahve always done mini tracking with him inside the house, I would put pieces of food and make him search for them, that seemed to wear him out fair bit, mainly emotionally. He loved it and if it wasnt food Id play hide and seek with OH and Rex - the dog really enjoyed and got tired eventually.

so it isnt a completly bad thing if this happens? and the dog does reinforce the recall? If dog on a long line and you needed to give it a reminder by a slight pull?

Trigger - person/dog walking by. dog alert watching the person walk by in the distance, hackles up.

New question. Dogs learn most in the drive initialisation. lets imagine the dog is in defence drive initialisation and we issue a recall comand that the dog completes, than receives a reward. What has the dog learned?

I give my dogs frozen raw fish, pilchards or makrel. Its their breakfast on hot days

Sounds great Julie!!! Tell me more about the Polish SAR dogs, from memory we have quite a few of them in the mountains. Im wondering if people in Australia would be willing to attend something like that. But with the dogs, using local trainers. Or would it make a difference if there was a O/S trainer coming over to train? On the Polish forum they all had their dogs there, and say the biggest problem was that the dogs were not physically or mentally prepared to have so much trianing done to them, but those that attended it for the second time were. Just interesting to read some responces there and how much people enjoyed themselves.

Im a member of a Polish dobie forum and lots of people there do IPO. Recently they organised a mega training workshop with a famous Czech trainer. The mega workshop run for over a week, was run somewhere in the Czech Republic country side, on someones farm with bed and breakfast. The atendees all train for IPO and their dogs are somewhat trained, so it isnt the basic training stuff that is covered. Reading the responces of those that attended it was a total blast, training full on few times a day, they has several decoys, people that specialise in tracking, agility and competitive obiedience. They all stayed in the cottage, or some camped there, spend basically a week together 24/7. I wish I could attend something like that with my dogs (obviously my dogs are not being trained in bite work, but all other aspects sound really appealing to me) had a holiday, social gathering and trained dogs in the mean time. If someone organised something like that here, would you attend??? If yes how much would you be prepared to pay for something like that?

Well that doesnt apply than, as we have explained to you, the dog is biting an item not a human nor an animal. The item happends to be a sleave that is worn by a trained decoy, that doesnt suffer any injury. I cant imagine a decoy being worried either. I declare my baby puppy dobermann a DD, she held my hand in her mouth this morning.... and she was hold my grown up dobe males neck or ears in her mouth several times a day............ and sometimes he is worried .

After having recall issues with Rex I become really keen on the speed of the recall for the puppy and rewarded this big time. I guess for a pet its great. if I want to compete I need to stop being a lazy trainer than. Thanks for pointing the errors out. but how do I do it in prey drive, its nice to know the theory, can you give me a practical solution to this Im guessing this is an answer but 10 ft from me she is already fast and in drive peak and getting ready to get the ball. Do shorter distance for a recall?

Sch is a set of the same type of excercises, the bite work is only one part, the others are obiedicne and tracking. The bite work is pretty much the same every time for the dog the dog is to bite the sleave the "tents" are simmilar the way the decoy runs etc. True personal protection gets the dog to bite the human not the protective sleave. Id say a well trained sch dog is extremly reliable and pretty much a dream for most pet owners.

I dont know if this is correct or not correct, will this cause me any dramas later or not but this is what I have done and it worked. Got the ball out and played, did some heeling but it was shocking so I swaped the ball for food for heeling. Heeling is the worst excercise she is doing. Asked for a recall didnt give a treat asked for a sit got a sit gave the treat. Done this few times giving or not giving the treat after the recall and second after the sit. Got the ball out and asked for a recall and a sit and after few times she somewhat got the point. Well so I hope. So what kind of problems did I create doing this?
