  1. Ive got chickens and a duck they are in a dog proof pen. The dogs were on a mission to get them but I discouraged them, and encouraged to play with me insead. I did that every day and showed the dogs that the chcikens are not a toy, not food and that they are under my protection. Its been about 2-3 months now, I used to get the chickens out and have dogs on lead etc getting used to the chickens and rewarding them for no reactions. I wouldnt leave the dogs with the chooks unsupervised but this is taken couple of days ago, and as you can see Divani doesnt even have the collar on. She does love that bred we give them tho
  2. I forgot to tell you that my dogs like the fish frozen, or semi frozen. I give it to them semi frozen most of the time. A lot less smell and a lot less clean up after their meal..... As to pulp - next thursday lunchtime pick up/delivery would suit me
  3. Fish - whatever is the cheapest but I get sardines, pilchards, makrel most of the time. $3.99/kg is my top price Ill pay. Actually I get a box of sardines from a fisherman friend most of the time 15 kg at the time and I share a box with someone as I cant store that much. My dogs eat those sardines just liek seals do at SeaWorld As to pulp - best no citrus, my dogs dont really like celery as well. I just put the veg into a food processor/blender and make the pulp that way.
  4. Yes please, I will of course pay for the postage. Unless you are in Sydney than we could meet up for me to pick up.
  5. My dogs dont digest the grains from the VAN, but I never thought they are in the mix for the nutritional values. I believe they are there for raughage (sp?) Most of dried foods main ingredient are grains, and as mentioned dogs dont digest grains well. Daggles - I also think the beef and roo mince is not fat enough for the puppy, perhaps this is another reason why your dog is thin. I would up his/her lamb flaps and chicken and see how the pupp goes.
  6. my two dobes are on it, the young one was brought up on it. They do very well on it, getting it about 3 times a week mixed with mince meat. Rest of the diet is meaty bones, chicken, lamb flaps etc. But I do use missing link as a supplement. If your dog is thin perhaps you dont feed enough? my puppy dobe when she was growing up was eating pretty much the same amount as the grow up.
  7. My dogs wouldnt touch the veg with no meat, so if yours do, you are very lucky. My dogs diet would be once a week raw fish 3-4 times a week meaty bones - lamb flaps, chicken carcasses, wings, turkey necks brisket bones, pork spine bones rest of the week is chicken bone mince mixed with veg pulp (ne in the food processor) or vets all natural. there is yoghurt and egss in the mix, sometimes some nuts, some fruit, whatever I get at home. They get some ricotta cheese, table scraps and liver as treats pretty much daily. Occasional lamb hearts in the meal, or mix of chicken hearts, liver and giblets Fish oil capsules daily, occasional multi vitamine. For Rex glucosamine and joint stuff. I dont buy BARF patties they are just too expensive, but I do buy Scotties rolls (pro peak) when Im lazy. ETA I use Missing Link as a suplement - it goes in the veg and mince mix. I dont find anything difficult about BARF, and as you know my dogs look great.
  8. OH went to feed the chickens that live in a chicken pen and my dogs obviously would like to eat them if given an opportunity. He opened the pen and 6 chickens escaped, dogs in the yard, with no collars. Dogs puzzled and started to go after the chickens. OH yelling to me for help. I walked outside called the dogs and they came straight back to me admitedly they were reluctant but they did come back. This is after Divani stands at the pen staring at the chickens and trembling.
  9. Centennial Park classes at 9am on Sundays Peakhurst classes at 3pm on Saturdays All clubs are run by volounteers and they have a joining fee of about $30 a year plus a fee for each lesson attended and its $3. I instruct at Peakhurst. You need to arrive earlier to sign up, bring vaccination certificate or a titre test results, some treats for the dog and a smile on your face.
  10. You have Centennial Park, Homebush or Peakhurst, wich one would you like to know more about?
  11. Im not "guilty" I could issue 4 tapes in his 5 tapes series :p
  12. Im borrowing her for the long weeknd and will asses than. If I decide to take her on, you will be seeing pics, if not - than adieu puppy, it will be happy in another home somewhere bringing joy to the owners.
  13. the owner of the standard poodle in the before video needed to be whacked on the head imho.
  14. She has been kept outside with another puppy (litter mate) until about a week ago when the other puppy was sold. Plenty of toys to play with, lots of bones to chew on. She has had interaction with the breeder, lots of show stacking and interactions with any visitors. All outside not in the house, so she obviously isnt toilet trained at all. Than last weekend she had two days out at the show, trips in the car where she drooled a lot. Time at the show in a pen with another puppy for company, time with strangers, walking on lead for the first time (no issues), play with strangers. off lead running in a paddock, play and cuddles with me and several other people. Not a blink at anything.
  15. Im borrowing the puppy for the long weekend. I had asked WSDSC if they would give me an opinion and they will, although when I mentioned what Im considering I got rolling eyes :p not that I expected anything else :D Than my friends with the puppy that is 3/4 the same breeding had their first session with their 8 month unrully puppy with a tug toy. Overall concencus was - great dog, good grip, no issues, lucky noone messed around with him at all. several people around him new place dog grabbed the toy and hanged on to it being swang in the air straigh away. The owner is very inexperienced and never done anything like this. So he was told to stand still while John a BIG man did the helper work. The owner (6ft tall man) was unalble to hold on properly and the puppy nearly bawled John over, about 4 times Was hilirious. Advice to the owner - prey work for the dog 3 times a week, gym for the owner 5 times a week twice a day Overal comment - pleasure to see a nice dobe and if handled and trained correctly is definitelly suitable for the sport. Its now up to the owners to decide if they want to do the sport, I hope they will. So if this girl is anything like it (the breeder says its a female clone of him) I might take her on. That is only if I like her 100% in every way, show potential being an important part. As mentioned before my aims for the dog are: show and obedience dogsport or agility in the above order
  16. No, not my pup but I could consider taking it on Thinking only for now. Yep I like challenges and I like proving people wrong :p :p My friends have a 8 month old dobie male that they took to the club recently to see what will the people think of it. General consencus was that the puppy is great, just the owners dont know enough and didnt train it so far enough hence the dog is unrully. Id say the club people were not so much impressed by him but pleasently surprised that he is the way he is with no preparation. Weather the owners be enough interested in the bite work - that I cant tell you, but they want to persue the obedience. I know the dog he is lovely, nothing phases him, bottomless guts - will eat anything, show him a toy he goes nuts for it too. You run around he will be biting your ankles or your arms in play till the cows come home I have countless bruises, scratches, and bites from him. And he is 3/4 the same breeding as this girl.... As to working v's show - someone tried to tell me recently that some of those working dobes could be shown as they are very good looking, I said that I wouldnt take one to the car park at EP let anone anywhere near the ring
  17. JJ - female dobe, and no not from working lines either. But I know both parents and all 4 grandparents and they are very stable, easy going, open dogs.
  18. Erny Yes this is what Im saying. The goals for the puppy would be: be stable enough to be shown in conformation ring (not atlking about looks just temperament) be able to be trained to be trailed in obedience possibly be trained to IPOI level - providing it had what it took to achieve that. The puppy has had show stacking training, and was walked on lead twice outside the yard with no problems. The puppy was taken to the show on Sat and Sun gone and was happy to play with a stange person with a toy while being souronded by many people and dogs. It looked as if its owned the joint Went to people, ate lunch in the crate next to a grown up dog that it had never seen before. Drooled in the car - second time in the car ever. On arrival when taken out of the car it took about 1-2 minutes for it to look around and decide that its ok to put the tail up and the world hasnt collapsed as yet. It was very happy for the rest of the day. Happy with people ahnding it, happy to play with anyone, comes when called, I threw a large bag about 5 times the size of the puppy when it was drowning itself in a bucket getting a drink right next to the pupp, it lifted the head up from the bucket to see what happened and went back to playing with water.
  19. The puppy is 4 months old. The puppys FIRST day out of the yard was last weekend. Puppy not worried about anything, happy to play amongst dozens of strange dogs and people it has never seen before. Inquisitive, wants to check out things for itself. If you wanted a dog for obedincence and possibly schutzhund (if it had enough drives for it) would you take a puppy that age that has not been socialised?
  20. YOU belive its necessary. Well knock yourself out and conduct a study. Those that produce or use the ecollars dont have a need for it. If there was a necesity, requiirements or rules and regulations to conduct more, Im sure manufacturers would be conducting those studies. Are you propagating the idea for more studies into affectd of mobile phones as well? There is a lot more of them around than there are ecollars and people used them, kids including.
  21. I do both. the main differences were the heeling v's the run around the show ring. I a different body posture as a cue as well as I use different collar. Another thing was that I tought my dog a word stand as one of the first things, so in case she did attempt to do the auto sit in the show ring I would give her a stand command. I have no major problems, she never attempted to sit in the ring and does nice auto sits when doing obedince heeling. As for free standing in the ring - again I have a specific body posture and a hand signal and she knows the difference very well.
