Latest? Fad Some Good Some Bad
MonElite replied to Lablover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I occuse myself of your point 3 LL. And yes I understand your point re the fad. Halti few years ago was a fad, everyone just had to have one. Some DVDs, new books read by people, some method used by a trainer - bring out a fad. Hell, I am a bit like that myself! But to me at the end of the day - if I get something from each book, dvd, trainer, friend, internet advice and apply it, if it works for me, I consider this a private success. I like learning, and when I discover something new that I like Im enthusiastic about it. Its not only about training, its my personality in general. Is this a type of comment you were looking for in this thread? -

What about that club you go to Kavik at Homebush? -
My dgos run TO ME when they hear any lead/collar being picked up. Collars in the house mean fun, even the prong collar means fun. Id never chase my dog to put the any collar on - they dont want to go and have fun - thats their choice and fine by me As to trying different things/methods/equipement - I fully agree RB. Do what works for your dog

RB - give me some contradictions you came about in Balabanov v's Dildey. I mean one teaches a lot of stuff with food, but its all in drive. Just different terminology. Have you watched any Leerburg drive stuff? And mate - geezz it took you long time to get around to watch Balabanov Now we can exchange notes.......... again
-
I use bits of it, and lots of Dildey. A friend of mine uses Balabanovs methods and he has got two awesone trained dogs, dobe and a GSD. They are just pleasure to watch in anything they do. did you watch Dildey yet?

I stopped training Rex for the trials when his breeder threatened me with court over the contract I had with her. The contract stated that she had the rights to exhibit the dog. I always thought that it was showing the dog in conformation but according to the DOGS NSW rules that covers showing, trialing, parading etc. Rex was at the time ready for Novice trials.

sas - sorry didnt go to the show as Divani has done something to herself (again!!!) and cracked a pad. She is limping badly , so no showing for us today. Erny - I have got a gazebo from Aldi it was $79, it has a aluminium frame and is really light, I can put it up by myself. Its not a surdy excellent quality one but for taht price I just had to get it. Mine is 3m x 3m

Jen - I have had a bit of a simmilar issue and I have asked for advice here int he past. Here is my old thread http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...c=89384&hl= Maybe you will find something there that will be on use for you. I can say that a year went by and I could not be happier with what I have achieved. My girl is happy at shows, goes under male judges with no problems. She is weary of man, and always will be, but its not somehting that worries me greatly, once she is introduced to a man within couple of minutes she is fine with them. I have set up plenty of very positive situations for her. One advice I can give you - if you decide to do it yourself - be patient and positive and dont force your dog into anything. -
Should deelee2 ask kelpie people as well? :D or some other breed people as her dog might be crossed with something else... Tonymc - we have been through the breed specific trainign with tarope a dozen times, Tarope belives that there is nothing better for the rottie than the training offered at the rottie club. as per below - you havent been to rottie club training ..... I have on another hand with my dobermann and my dog hasnt really learned anything there.... must be becosue I have dobermanns
