I liked Godfried Dildey

Mine normally isnt lazy at all, always happy to do things, go places, annoy others  Now its like someone has swapped my dog for something that look like my dog but isnt acting like mine. I had Divanis thyroid done and she was fine, so Im guessing its the after season hormones.

doG give me strenght to survive another 6-7 weeks of this than... I took her to a show last weekend and as you said - I had to drag her around the ring. Mind you she was happy to inhale treats if I showed them to her.

If you have an entire bitch do you notice a difference in her performance in the sport you do? Im mainly interested in obedience. My Divani has recently finished her season and right now she is a different dog to what she normally is. Just before the season she was a "bitch" to other dogs, during the season she loved me no end and looked into my eyes and cuddled upto me so much that it was sickening. Right now she is lazy, doesnt want to do anything other than eat and sleep and me thinks she is having a phantom. Her nipples are bigger than normal and she seems to be for ever starving. She had a phantom before but the behaviour didnt change as drastically as this time. Basically she isnt interested in doing any excercises, her attention span is 3 seconds. Im am thinking Im either over training her or its the hormones. So this week I decided to practically do no obedience training, took her for long runs and a bike rides and Im wondering how long will this go for. Would like some of the experienced people share some of the observations and give me some advice on how to go about this, please.

Well done, she is a gorgeous dog! You should see how my body looks like today. I ahve got bruises all down my thigs and bite marks on my arm. I look as if someone assoulted me!!!! I usually dont take higher class than blue, but I can give you tips on how to make Stevie not look for food on the ground. Im glad you enjoyed my class, if it wasnt for those people that come every so oten to say they actually learned somehting I dont think I would still be instructing. And its very rewarding to see when the dogs progress through classes, but better still seeing owners getting excited and addicted -
What To Do When They Disobey A Command?
MonElite replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
You should have finished with the dog when it was fully interested and keen, sound like you missed that point. I would have gone, got the dog and done some other excercise that the dog know really well and really likes doing, than played with the dog. -
This could be said about any traing tool, or anti pulling device. That is correct, you can. Again correct, however its up to the owners to train their dogs. If they are provided with any type of a tool, right instructions they need to actually action the training. Some dont, regardless of what tool they are given.

It is. its a matter on how well will people train the dog, that is how far they are going to take the training to. Some are happy with instant results and dont bother progressing. Do you think there is something wrong with that?

Schutzhund Club Accepting "other" Breeds
MonElite replied to MonElite's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Interesting. One would imagine its the breeders that decide, after the dogs pass all pre breeding criteria. -
Schutzhund Club Accepting "other" Breeds
MonElite replied to MonElite's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
correct me if Im wrong please, perhaps its different in Germany. A breeder doesnt have to be a member of a BREED CLUB to sell puppies, they do have to be a member of the countrys Controlling Body, in Asutralia that is ANKC, in Germany would be the equivalent... So where the Breed Club might have the rules about who they sell it doent mean the dog controlling body has. Which title? -
Schutzhund Club Accepting "other" Breeds
MonElite replied to MonElite's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I checked with a friend of mine n Germany about weims only being sold to hunters, its not correct. yes for the breeding they are required to have some hunting tests passed, and only a hunter can enter those test, but if someone wants a pet they are free to buy one. No , its not like that. I even found a labrador doing it. I am saing taht it not common at all. Show me those with titles. Where are you going to get the titles? Not in Australia by the looks of it as your breed isnt allowed to compete. Is your dog suitable? -
Schutzhund Club Accepting "other" Breeds

with over 500 registered there each year there sure is a hell of a lot hunters in Germany.... I did read that in order to breed they must have passed certain hunting tests. Nothing wrong with than imho. Should be the same for any breeds if they have been bred for a specific purpose. But this isnt to say that weims are good for schutzhund, I looked on youtube for some videos of them doing it, found nothing.... but I found a JRT ;) -

No I dont read German but found that In Germany and Austria, only hunters can enter their dogs for the hunting tests. Thats a bit different to owning one. At the end of the day it doesnt matter to me, they are good looking dogs but my breed is a dobermann ;) -

I am the OP ;) As to weims being only owned by hunters. I find this bizzare, as not to say I dont belive you. I shall do some investigation on my own, but are you able to point me to a source of this info? Also what aobut other hunting breeds such as a German Pointer or the Wirehair German Pointer? Same story - only owned by hunters? -

There are plenty of papered weims in the Eastern Europe... are you saying that Germans purchase unpapered dogs on purpose? Also recreational hunter - isnt every German one? ;) We have plenty of them shooting stuff in our forests in Poland. -

where I agree with you dogdude I also have a dobermann that is a gret retriever and loves water. I dont think I will be allowed to compete in retrieving trails tho.... Than again she could almost pass as a viszla - she has large ears and is brown ;) Also if you feel strongly about the issue why not approach a club, become a member and try changing the rules? I am a member of an obediecne club and feel strongly about unnecessary vaccinations, and my club now accepts titer test result. Bit of work, willingness and things can change -

Its the same principal as only herding dogs can do herding and only gun dogs can compete in the retrieving or field trails. Earth dogs - again same principal, selected to certain breeds. Airdale is a different tarrier to a JRT and where the temperament of a JRT could be suitable for the sport I cant see them putting the man down... -

Kavik if you fatten Kaos up he would potentially pass as a GSD and you could even do bite work with him -
This was a post by Seita in another thread I spoke to my girlfriend that is a member of one of the clubs in Sydney (it think its called Waratah Dogsport Club) and she said that that particular club would accept other breeds to do obedience and tracking. The people/dogs would be accepted on individual basis, that is if the dog is suitable for drive training and the owners are aware of what the sport is etc. There is a trial/assesment period the club does with all new members at present and this would apply to those with other breeds. During the trial the new members asses the club and the club asseses the new member and has a right of not accepting the person further. Its more about the people than the dogs. Also the club doesnt run a class, its all individual training. Potential members should be aware that the trainig at the club is time consuming and a high perticipation rate in helping others is required. The other breeds would not be allowed to trial at the sch events as this is governed internationally and those rules cant really be changed. If I get some repplies of interest in this thread Ill put up the contact details and find out more info for you.
