  1. Yeah LOL - but he has done a nice recall, Come means come, no matter who I speak to
  2. I think its my day 10 since I first picked up the dumbell. We did no training on weekend as I was too busy. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=40Te1KVIgm8
  3. for me 5. - when people come after class and say THANK YOU very much, I really love your classes, or I thank you for solving my problems, or even when they stay back to ask me more than I explained in the class, and just generally appriciate what I do.
  4. Here are some pics from the event http://www.schutzhundaustralia.com/photoga...onal_story1.pdf http://www.rivid.com/sportdogs/
  5. I know  I think its the oversize ears She is popular with some people over here, she is a great model for photos and puts up with a lot when someone tries to get that perfect shot.
  6. Ahem ... to quote you HE isnt a problem, he can howl all he likes and I wouldnt care about HIM. The problem is that SHE wants to go back to him to rescue him form his distress, and looses concentration on what she supposed to be doing. Its just easier for me to take him and he isnt a problem and she doesnt care abot him when he is near by.
  7. Oh nooo I cant lock him up, he howls the neighbourhood down and all she wants to do is go and help him in his distress LOL they are fine, after first 2 minutes of sillyness together he goes his own way and she sticks with me. He is no issue. Im the issue!! Plan - thats right plan, I never have one
  8. Must be true! Elitist club told me that, other trainer told me that. And than she looks at me with those big brown eyes and I think - WTF are they all talking about? She is perfect But I thought that the click stick will be a cure for it all, magic wand you will wave above the dogs click it few times and voila, sensetional
  9. I did reward the recall, always do. Than I just went for a walk with both dogs, they run themselves silly and that always makes me smile. I was all good 15 minutes later.
  10. Apparently so, but tracking isnt limited to the elite of dogs, you can do tracking at tracking clubs, all breeds are allowed there. And its not MY elite..... I just happen to own one of the elitist breeds, I keep telling you you should have one of mine too Will you be taking dogs in for training too? If yes than Im booking Divani in already
  11. Just ask me where to start You need to tire his mind up all the time. you are building his muslcles up and he is getting fitter and fitter hence required more and more excercise. Ill quote your fav trainer Cesar Excercise, discipline and affection in that order. He gets 1 and 3 and maybe a bit of 2 at the end.
  12. Lock him up, shut the door and leave. Day after day. No attention on arrival nor on departure. Heartbreaking but do-able. And I think you need to excercise his mind more rather than his body. Perhaps try tracking? or teach him many new tricks.
  13. Ok Ill be honest. I went outside did a pick up and hold which she did very well and than went onto the fetch. She went to it pawed it and took off after Rex, I called her back to me and told her to get it she didnt and took off after something else, I yelled for her to get back she did and I was angry. Not that she didnt fetch but that she just blew me off. TWICE! Got her to drop stay with an angry voice, calmed a bit down, I than slapped myself on a forehead, got her to come, pick up the dumbell but I dont think my voice was happy, and than said break - go and do what you bloody want, Im in no mood and you are abviously too busy today. But than at home after dinner we did really well. I just need to slap myslef a bit sometimes, I expect bloody miracles all the time, she can deliver a miracle on occoasion and than I want to capitalise on that. Silly handler!!!!!
  14. Thanks PAX, I will. I went back a bit - just to picking it up, but as soon I realised that I cant block her from taking off chasing Rex or chcking out the near by bushes I finished - no point. Will try tonight again, on lead and from the beggining. Im still proud tho, and in the house she runs to the dumbell now and runs back to me.
  15. I took it a bit further yesterday, she now fetches (runs) across the room and I have a VERY long room. I took it outside as well and she picked it up from the gorund but fetching from a distance she was more interested in chasing possums. Error on my part I had her off lead and with no collar on. We shall work on that in due course
  16. My dog is just so f-en smart that I have to write up a brag! I started clicker training her to retrieve a dumbell. First session was on Wednesday. On Thursday I did one session, very short as I had no time. On Friday she was taking the dumbell in her mouth but I couldnt get her to hold it for any period of time. Well today she is retrieving it from a sit at heel postion, brings it back and sits in front of me. She is slow but no chewing, will release it when I say "give", if I dont say "give" she will hold it for about 20 sec. I am absolutly amazed. Here is a linky to the video http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpWqq0ji6KQ This is all at home and the only distraction is Rex, that would really want to learn as well and he on occasion races her to the dumbell ;-) but doesnt pick it up So when was the last time you had a jaw drop moment at how smart your dog is? Share your story.
  17. Nor on a prong collar although some clubs do allow them (not ANKC affiliated)
  18. Jessca - from what I understand there are two sch organisations in Australia. This was Schutzhund Australia Nationals. The other org AUSC are having theirs in Sydney this year. I belive these National competitions happen once a year in some city. But the clubs have their own little trials, usually once or twice a year. Id say both orgs have the details on their websites. This is SA http://www.schutzhundaustralia.com/ and this is AUSC http://www.sportdogaustralia.com/clubs/clubs.htm this is resume of Alison (the winner) http://nordenstamm.com/history/akollenberg_resume.pdf
  19. The trials were at night and in the rain. I filmed obedience but the quality is shocking. I took some photos of an import dobe (not competing) and thats about it. During protection the rain was bad, we were all sitting/standing under jbbb cabana it just wasnt practical to film. There was a photographer there all days so when I get the photos or a link to them Ill post some up. Yes. Bred by her, trained by her, handled by her. There also was a litter brother Norden Stamm Hassan (Ozzie) that Alison was handling - oh what a dog!! He got the highest score on the day. Its a bit complicated to explain in words on the net, if you want to find out you will have to see me I get to see her in Sydney next week
  20. On the long weekend I went to the Gold Coast to visit jbbb and to spactate the Sch Nationals. Despite the fact that it rained the whole 4 days I had an absolute ball!!!! Met several wonderfull people and countless great dogs. My friend with his GSD passed the BH and another friend of mine, whom I train with, had the most spectacular fail in the BH, when her dog in the heel off lead when the gun shots were fired decided its great fun, took off looking for a decoy, found noone went over to the A frame, tried knocking it down with no success, than knocked the stand with the dumbells picked one up and did a nice retrieve to the owner The dogs that competed were GSDs and BSDs, with several litter mates to the boy that failed the BH. Its a shame there were no dobes nor rotties First place for H.O.T went to Alison Kollenberg with Norden Stamm Hanna SchIII and oh what a performance!!! It was pouring rain during the trial but neither the dog nor the handler cared. There was a wonderfull black GSD that was competing in SchII and it was all going really well but the dog broke the long down stay, just crawled to the owner, cant blame him really it was wet, cold and he was in a drop in the mud. After the nationals we had two days of workshops with the judge. She is clicker trainer and it was great to see what and how she does thing, how she fixes the chewing of the dumbell with the clicker as an example. She wasnt affraid to pick up other tools such as the prong or the ecollar, said that she doesnt like corrections, but when they are needed than they have to be issued. Also one of the things that made me laugh was the raffle. A girl came to me and jbbb asking if we want to purchase tickets, so we asked whats the price? Without a blink in the eye she said - its an ecollar. Another thing that was worth noticing was the critiques. They are lenghy as is, but they were in German and than were being translated. Competitors with dog standing in the rain listening to what the judge had to say to them. While they were being critiqued many took and umbrella and held it over the dog, while getting soaked themselves. If you ever get an opportunity to see a competition at that level, go and see it, its breathtaking! And take a look at the people that compete, some with SchIII dogs could well be singning in a churh choir, by looking at most you would never expect them to be into this at all. anyway.... all that clicker talk and here I am freeshaping..... something that I dont like doing as its boring and is like watching grass grow, well so I thought! We are on day 3-4 of the dumbell and Divani can actually fetch it, bring it back and hold it her mouth I bet Im going too fast or she is so damn smart
  21. Hurstville All breeds Dog Training Club - Call Trish on 97712582
  22. my obedience comands are in English but all other stuff is in Polish as we speak Polsih at home.
  23. oh no Casima, go and win lotto or something!
  24. bumping this as the June journal came out wiht the Sydney date of the trial. Someone also pmed me asking about my trainign reigime, so I thought I will reply here to it. The training reigime - well it doesnt really exists A dobermann is not a dog that is going to have problems passing the test, uless they are overweight or very unhealthy. So any training I do is more for me to gain endurance and for the dog to learn not to pull on lead and run nicely next tot eh bike. I usually do about 45 minutes rides which is 7-10km depending on the speed. I do this only to have some activity with the dog and to train myslef. I might do this once a week or even less.... And Im happy to say that Divani doenst pull on lead, trotts nicely next to me and we enjoy the time together
  25. you can try www.doggonemad.com.au he also does house visits, and is relativelly local to you
