  1. OK here are some pics. Getting ready - freezing, and frosty running team dobies we've done it!
  2. yes first couple of lapsshe was pulling me a bit, wanted to go to the husky at front and sniffed everything in the paddock, watched the sheep etc. BTW it was -4 when we started, had to scrape off the frost of her paws for the vet to check them... but than it got warmer and warmer, mind you Divani has not panted at all for well over 15 km. On the last leg it got warm and she started to pant, but not very heavily at all. Alll in all we couldnt have asked for a better weather, especially that its raining here now.
  3. Divanis paratemters throughout the test Before temp 37.9 heart rate 96 after 8 km 38.5 and 96 after 14 km 38.3 and 88 after 20 km 38.6 and 88 I need a massage, spa bath and someone to feed me peeled grapes. :D
  4. you two should do it next year!, nom Im not taking one of your dogs through, dont bother asking :D
  5. I am happy to announce that every dog that participated in the endurance test today at Erskine Park has passed. As to a personal experience - my ar*e hurts, my legs will hurt tomorrow, but I am now an owner of Divani aka Fireax Twice The Fun ET. Divanis paratemters throughout the test Before temp 37.9 heart rate 96 after 8 km 38.5 and 96 after 14 km 38.3 and 88 after 20 km 38.6 and 88 one fit dog!!! Not to mention that after the test she played with 3 dogs rumbling and running around like an idiot! All up we had 5 dobes there today, I think they were only matched in mubers by border collies - if that. GSDs being the most popular breed of a dog in Australia was reprsented by one dog. No labs, couple of goldens, husky, stampy tail cattle dog, and many more - usually one of the breed. Well done to everyone who was there, Im now off to the sofa to suffer for the rest of the day, Divani is fast asleep already. I will put some pics up later.
  6. other than naming the puppy what are the plans for the puppy?
  7. congrats Erny, he is cute, and no he doesnt look like Roger at all!
  8. Im glad to hear that there is improvement. Well done, and good luck for the next session!
  9. This is totally irrelevalnt tho. denis how is my pm going?
  10. no doubt this thead is heading down hill very fast.....
  11. Kavik my Dad is an Elecrical Engineer if Ill find the stuff to hard to understand (and physics is no issue for me) Ill ask him to "translate" it to us.
  12. denis for someone that has total of 31 posts on DOL to date you seem to have a lot of knowledge n how this board works and the dynamics of it. Did you know that its not allowed here to use multiple ids?
  13. denis we have been through the occupation/eduation/experiences conversation couple of times already, when you are labandpoodle and another simmilar nick you had before. Why do you want to do it again?
  14. isnt denis c an electrical engineer or something simmilar?
  15. what collar are we talking aobut here now. Anti barking?? if so than so you are at work, dog barks, how do you apply time out than?
  16. whats the difference? has anyone here EVER promoted use of "shock" collars? are you able to give us a make and model of one so that we can stay away from them.
  17. Haven, to be technically correct, leg/paw lifting (alone) can be an appeasing signal. Coupled with other behaviours/signals it indicates submission (no threat) and to appease the threat. As mentioned, it must be read in conjuction with signal clusters - not on it's own! Take a look at this video - great protection work BTW, but check out the leg lift at 3:50, would you apply the above statement to this situation?
  18. flip, you can start by watichg some videos by Denis Carthy, here is one http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...;hl=denis+carty
  19. I personally wouldnt use a shock collar (can you please clarify what they are as Im not sure we are talking about the same piece equipment here), but I would use an ecollar, that gives low stimmulations you can use on on a non problematic dog too.... I think manufaturers say not less than 4 (or was it 6?) months.
  20. maybe it will be easier on this video http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=m9r5DdASGR0 Ms James - lets see what will you pause the video on this time  Its hard to watch them, isnt it, the poor oppressed dog shocked by the collar into submission, can you see he is cowering all the time, the tail is down, ears back, I nearly cry each time I watch those clips! BTW its been about 3 maybe even 4 years ago when I took those videos, Rexy isnt capable of having that much fun any more
