I think what it might potentially be doing is shuting the dog down, so its completly out of drive, any drive. Id like to see what do people that have used it think about it.

I did all sorts of experiments on Rexy - he is such a good dog that he let me. He doesnt like water and swimming but we had a boat so one time I had put a human safety vest on him. It was a child size so a bit tight around his chest. He stood in the middle of my living room frozen. Didnt move at all, wouldnt come and had the funnies WTF is wrong with you face. I was in tears laughing at his expression. Another time I have wrapped a jumper over his head. He stood there frozen at first than shook his head side to size to get the stuff off I ahve dressed him in a playboy bunny suit too, he liked the ears as they were fluffy.Thats after he got them off his head

champagne all the way Divani likes vodka and orange, Rex burbon and coke But yesterday Rex found a dead pigeon. I had seen it dead about a week ago if not more.. He took off with it in his mouth, and ate it whole, feathers and all I wasnt keen on the "kisses" afterwards I wonder if he had the gentle leader calming cap on would have he done the same?

I use VAN about twice a week. Soaked for at least 24 hours before feeding. I probably wouldnt use it that often with a younger dog, but I find that my old boy gets too constipated with the amont of bones and meat he was able to eat when he was younger. I need to add some roughage in his diet, and it can be vegies or VAN. BARF isnt difficult, just takes a bit of practice at first and watching our dogs poo to see if its too loose or to hard. It definitelly will be harder than on dried food.

Do not reprimand!!! When he goes out he has to totally ignore her, no eye contact, nothing as if she doesnt exist. When she is completly calm than he is to call her and pet her etc. It might take some time before she calms down and before she stops urinating, but please do not correct her for this, it will only make it worse and will become a habbit. She isnt urinating in the house, is only a baby, please explain to your husband that his frustration only transfers to her and makes it worse. He needs to stay calm!

Being a regular at fun lure coursing days in Sydney I ahve seen this many times. The dogs will run a course once or twice and on the third run will cut the corners, they learn really quickly where the corners are and decide to do shortcuts.

Socialisation & Neutralisation
MonElite replied to Steve K9Pro's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes this is what I meant, the dog still needs to be socialised or more intorduced to certain things. Mine wasnt to what in my opinion was to late in the developement. Exactly, if I couldnt neutralise the dog properly I would preffer for it to have a positive value assigned to people, rather than negative. I belive it would have been as I would have taken the puppy places. Alternativelly I should have gone out a bit more in the fear impact period to show her the world at least. No doubt temperament plays a big role. When I had seen her at the breeders place and was assesing her she was a happy open puppy, no differnent to her littermates. A friend of mine owns her litter brother and he is an open easy going dog, but he was also socialised earlier than my girl. So to summarise - With the socialisation and the training (under a great helpfull trainer) I have done since my girl was about 10 months old till now I am happy with the way she turned out. There was a period of time where "everyone" was telling me to get rid of her and I was considering doing so. I am now glad I didnt. She is now titled, passed ET, has a pass in obedience (perfect scores for the Stand for Exam!!), we are training to do a BH, tracking and more obedience, and she is a lot of fun at home! I will attempt to neutralise my next dog, learned a lot on my mistakes with both my dogs (one has gone one way the other the opposite) I think I can now come up with the happy medium. Time will tell. -
Socialisation & Neutralisation
MonElite replied to Steve K9Pro's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Where the neutralisation programme is a fantastic idea, and if done properly Im sure provides great benefits, it also has to be excercised carefully. I got my bitch at 12 or so weeks. I than (as per this thread) locked her up in my yard as she was in the fear impact period. When I got her out to the big wide world at about 5 months old she was freaked out by the number of people, by the dogs behind fences, kids bikes etc. It took me long time to desensitse her to all sort of things, people mostly, as she would not let strangers examine her, especially man. She never had this problem with people she knew, friends that visited etc. Being a show dog this was totally not on, so I have done fair bit of training with her, for long time. So all in all IMHO there is a fine line between getting a dog neutralised and under socialising it. Especially if you dont get it at 8 weeks and you loose those 4 crucial weeks. As a side note - I have now titled my girl, with her best wins coming from male judges. I had a friend visit me recently that has not seen my girl for about 18 months and he couldnt belive the difference in her, she was all over him in, where 18 months ago she wouldnt go anywhere near him. -
Usually people from the same club have the same type of a tracksuit. Like a club uniform. Some are more doggy than others I think those vests are just during competitions to display the competitors number. Thats why I think the thread is called INSPIRING obediecne videos

What I meant Kavik was that often breeders will put coloured ribbons on puppies to have them marked. Puppy will wear that ribbon from the moment is born hence it doesnt mind a collar on its neck. Was Kaos marked with a ribbon?

nothing................ Actually ruthless if you were to buy a puppy from a breeder they often come preconditioned to a flat collar

Maintaining Pack Leadership
MonElite replied to dee lee's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I dont know what fetishes ruthless has, she might be up for that type of entertainment, but for me (if Im still the member of The Club) a vodka and cranberry will do and a bribe. Smirnoff Ice, Lemon Rusky, they are all ok -

Is Chopps collar smart? gotta laugh if he is. He is a smart dog...... If he is collar smart than he should shake paws with Rex. Rex is collar smart, line smart, place smart, people smart, you name it......... I dont have an answer for you, but some people say for the dog to wear it for 2 weeks before applying stim. I havent done it and my Rex is collar smart 100%. Divani isnt as she wasnt trained with it.
