I dont get it, you can outrun her in the show ring, but you cant outrun her in the fast pace when you heel? Also what I dont understand is how can you not make her run faster when on the bike? Just ride faster, encourage her to keep up, you are letting her dictate the speed? Surly you can ride fast enough for her to go into gallop. Do that then slightly slow down. Encourage her with yor voice, toy food or whatever and show her that running faster is great fun, but when she slackens off you will check her. The running needs to be fun as leopuppy said. Find what her motivator is and use it.

Then teach her to heel and you can control the speed that way.

The question is can she actually gait faster? Does she ever gait faster by herself? or breaks into the gallop? If she breaks into a galop then Id say her reach and drive due to her structure isnt the best hence she is slower on the gait. Perhaps show us the photos or a video.

I think you are your dogs half the problem. if you are stressed your dog feels stressed and becomes reactive. Why dont you take her for a walk somewhere where there are no dogs and actually enjoy walking with her. It might actually involve getting in the car to take her somewhere, but I think it would help. hey even Ruthless let Trixie off lead with me

deelee - wasnt your dog diagnosed by a behaviourist as a fear agressive dog? Or am I missing some info here? Of course there is room for a missdiagnose however I do know your trainer and trust him with his judgement. What did he say?

I have never showed a dog before I got Divani!!! She isnt even 3 years old. So when I was showing her to the title (roughly once a month) I was considered a novice show handler. Competing against show judges and long term breeders and showies, being a newby isnt easy... noice....

K9 - I wanted to show her - this was my nr 1 goal. And I did, and titeled her myself with noones help in the ring, which being a novice handler can be very difficult. What was said, done or not done isnt of importance now, but its good to see you take interest in my achievements despite the fact you dont train me for last what? 2.5 years? I rather look into the future then dwell on the past so I will no doubt keep the people on the forum updated with the new pupps progress, hopefully it turns out to be the dog I really like! Oh no I didnt mean you told me to put any of my dog to sleep! however a sentence that is - this dog will not meet your goals I interpret as - rehome this dog if you want your goals met and get another dog that will be suitable. Appoliges if this is not what was meant. I didnt get rid of her and love her and she is great, thats all it matters to me.

Deelee - maybe you can come over one day and we go for a walk? Im very limited with time atm, but could do a weekend walk not far from my place if that suits you. Im sure Rex and Evie would like it too

Yes K9, all is great! My bitch is good - considering everyone hated her and told me to get rid of her, you including . She is now a show champion, has and endurance title and a pass in obedience, yes she got 10 out of 10 for stand for examination! Bit of help from few people and we got there at the end. Ive done nothing with her since late Nov, but we will get back to it when I get back from Europe in June. And in April Ill attempt to do a BH with her, her heeling especially in the group is crap, but Ill give it a go, if anything it will be a good experience for me and cheap laugh for the spectators. Tracking will be next for her, shame she doesnt have enough drive to do character work, but what a great pet she is!!! and what a watch dog!!! (isnt she Ruthless? ) Cant wait to start training the pupp!! maybe this one will be my dream dog... black and tan, with no issues... one can only hope I do feel that Rexs potential was wasted tho, he is a great dog.

Well K9, we will never know what could have been achieved with my wonderful boy. He is now over 9 years old, not that well, and you chose not to have me as a client to continue the training. I did thank you many times for what you have taught me, although I dont really remember having a time frame on my goals. I did want to do a CD with Rex, he knew all the excercises, I just didnt trust him on the stay to be next to a entire male. And, as I said before, I couldnt find multiple entire males to train with. One session with yours and then no dogs/people to train with... I still wouldnt put Rex in a stay 1m apart from an entire male, although he has mellowed out with age a lot. Rex has an awesome life, I have my bitch to trial as she did a lot better then anyone has ever expected, and possibly a puppy very soon to train from scratch. All happy!!!

Yes Rex is very good providing he is wearing the collar (100% collar smart and I never weaned him off it) K9: I remember using my entire male to do exactly this whilst I handled Rex with no aggression displayed. I was very proud of Rex that day, it was a big step for him. Yes it was a nice moment now aobut 5 yeras ago, however your dog was totaly non reactive, was not stearing Rex in the face as you and I were constantly moving. It was a step and thats where it pretty much ended as I was unable to find non reactive entire males to work with. I did use the method to intro Rex to other dogs but they were always desexed. Helpfull stuff that intro method, if only more people knew it the world would be a better place. Main point Im trying to make deelee to you, is that assess what your goal is, find out if its realistic and then work towards it. My dream was to have my dog off lead in a off lead park where there would be many strange dogs potentially approaching mine. It was a dream not a goal. Never got there, reasessed and got what is a good easy to do in every day life arrangement. I do take Rex to all sorts of places, he was never a problem in public, and he gets to run off lead in empty parks. I sometimes look at him and think he is missing out on what he loves - and its interaction with other dogs, but he has a permanent friend at home now and meets his friends once a week like he always did, just doenst make new friends. Maybe Eve would want to meet him one day.... he is a good boy and loves girls

deelee - I believe you need to set yourself a realistic goal to achieve and aim for that. From what I understand all you want is for you to be able to take your dog places and have her behave with no stupidity. I believe this can be achieved, with whatever tool you use, providing you are a good pack leader. If your goal however is to be able to walk in to a leash free park see a group of unknown dogs running free chasing a ball, than Id call this an unrealistic goal, at least right now, but IMHO ever. for me the hardest part of dog training was to realise taht the goal I had set for myself will never be achieved, hence I had to re - assess and re - adjust what I was doing. I have had a reactive dog, was told that its possible to cure him, and my dream was to be able to let him go anywhere with other dogs. Over time I realised that the work involved was simply unrealistic. There was no way I was going to be able to find countless numbers of non reactive entire males and owners willing to work with me. so in theory it might have been achievable, in practice it was not, simply due to lack or resources, including financial. What I have managed to achieve is a great recall on my dog, he was always allowed to be off lead and I more or less knew his critical distance, but with some work - and what I think back to now - not that much effort - I am able to prevent things from happening. I can just call my dog to me, turn around and walk back to avoid other dogs. But if my dog is on lead and a dog runs up to him, there is no way Rex will just stay calm and not react. the distance is important and Rex will not react to a dog 2-3 m away from him. He was never really THAT bad, he was a very successful show dog and was shown in the ring countless times in a very close proximity to other entire males. he was under good control hence there was an occasional growl here or there but nothing bad and nothing that I would ever cosider to be an issue and to stop him from being shown. I never had an issue that I would walk on the street and he would lounge and carry on like a fruitloop becouse there was some dog on the other side of the road. Dog in Rexs face and staring at him - different story! I was once in class doing obedience and left him on a sit stay someone walked with an entire staffy right next to my dog he had no hessitations to take a chunk of the staffy. and did will all seriousness with an intent of causing injury, not the spit and dribble stuff and plucking few chunks of the other dogs fur. When Rex grabbed he grabbed and wouldnt let go. Oh and he hated a boxer bitch in class too, she was a weird one, she would just stare at him all the time, I could not work next to her. But all in all, Rex had and continues to have a small group of dog friends that he can run around with, they are all getting older and run less but they do get on. Rex hardly ever meets new dogs, some of the late ones were Chopper and they got on well - well Rex wanted to bonk him and was in love with him Chopper was not so impressed but didnt want to eat him. And a friend of mine brought a Belgian Shepherd - desexed male over to my place, not long ago. that is a non reactive dog. We met just outside my house and I psyched Rex up that its a girl Intro was quick and we were inside my home for few hours. Leo had enough of Rex after a while and wanted to take a chunk of him for his efforts to bonk him (again) so Rex learned that perhaps this "girl" is in a bad mood and wont give in. But there is no way that I would attempt to have an entire male in my house, no matter how non reactive. No way......... BTW - have never used nor attempted to use the ecollar as a tool to cure dog aggression - would have a clue how, but I can teach the dog to come, and do all sorts of other useful exercises. Id be interested to learn how the ecollar is used to cure aggression, rather then teach the dog to perform certain exercises in a specific situation What is your goal deelee???

Im of a belif that serious dog agression can not be cured. It can be managed really well and dogs will improve with time, such as a reactivity distance can be greatly reduced and acceptance of more dogs can be achieved, but IMO it can not be fully cured. But the main thing with the FEAR argo dog is to show it that you are a good pack leader and that YOU will take care of nasty situations and protect the dog. This comes down to very solid pack leadership and only then you can start desetisizing etc. Without it - forget it, it will enver happen. Also baby steps - most people rush things up, its not the way...

Go to a show or a trial and find people that might need help in kennels etc. Contact groomers and offer help. Same with doggy daycare places. Contact vets that offer puppy preschool. Become a volounteer obedience instructor at the club.

Yup, muzzle seems to do the trick. I used to muzzle Rex on a rare occasion and nobody came anywhere near us. It was great LOL I find it strange - in Australia muzzle is something evil, where I come from many dogs run around muzzled. the law is the dog must be on lead or if off lead must be muzzled. Muzzles dont worry me at the slightest, others here are horified by them! Ruthless - remember in case fight breaks out back legs grab and swing in the air is your friend ;-) Remember when I did it? It was pretty spectacular I got an applause Shell - just out of interest, you have written many times that Zero was very agro, and I can see you have done a wonderful job with him, which is to be applauded! Can you tell me - PM is fine - did you separate many dog fights that he was involved in? Has he caused injuries to other dogs? Did he seek fights or was he only defending himself when some dog run up to him? Again well done, the speedy recovery is great to see.

Uta Bindels. You will have to google her, she is German. Met her, seen her train, she is a clicker shutzhund trainer. Very successful in competitions. Tiny skinny lovely and fun woman has BSD's She is coming to Sydney in May and will be judging a sch trial as well as will give seminars on her methods. Now if you ask if she is PURE positive than no, she isnt, she will however try to fix problems with positives before she reaches for negatives.

I would have the dog on long line, doenst matter if its you or your OH calling, you are still not 100% that the dog will come, so you are setting it up for fail in the long run anyway.
