  1. Ive changed the poll to remove an option of "definitely no", as I think some smart arses would vote for it (well one did already) And I believe that makes Uta look as some kind of a incompetent trainer, if someone says definitely no. At the end of the day Im only interested in those that are thinking about attending
  2. KM - looking forward to meting up with you, Im going to be there on Monday too, doing WAE and obedience with Divani. Luka is great, I met him as a pupp and he was full of beans, Divani and him got on like a house of fire. I think he has never learned to be n his own, Divanis breeder recomended to me when I got her to keep her separate to Rex untill she grows up (when I go to work) and I did that for about 9 months. I never have problems now, but I did have when she was a baby. She learned quickly tho. And it sounds like he is just a drivey young dobie, try to do some sports with him, he sounds like the ideal candidate!
  3. You would be a yes Pax even if there was no seminar
  4. How much training does he get? How much training in drive does he get? off topic - are coming to the NSW dobe Specialty with him?
  5. There is one definite NO, Wonder who that is and why are they definite no. ;-)
  6. If there was a seminar held in Sydney would you go? It would be mid May on a Sunday. Not sure about costs but lets assume $50-80 Thead about Melbourne seminar http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=161660 changed it to a poll ;-)
  7. Do I consider obediecne work? - NO to me its a sport Do I think that they dog doing obedience can display working abilities - YES.
  8. I think it is the case, as my Rex is often consitpated these days. Nothing changed, diet the same, I guess less excercise as he doesnt run as much, but still does. I add more veg and fibre to his diet and it seems to work
  9. Kavik - you havent been to Peakhurst club then. Begginers classes never exceed 5 students per class.
  10. I say what Kavik says, except that I have also been to the club she mentioned and I consider their classes not small. there is over 10 people in the class. Well this was on the Tuesday nights. But instructors were quite good. As an overall comment - in the clubs that I have been to (several) instructors are often not qualified anywhere near the standard needed for a agressive dog.
  11. Yes LL I could its 2/3 May Bookings Theresa Brook 03 53487735 [email protected]
  12. Kavik - at Horsley Park, its mid may, cant recall the exact date but will find out for you.
  13. I say welcome Hetzer and will preffer to call this user by that name.
  14. She enjoys traveling and a bit of adventure too, so I hope the organisers will take her to some worthy places in Melbourne. Oh and from memory she doesnt eat seafood in case you are going for dinner with her, choose a place that serves somehting other then seafood She is also judging a sch trial here in Sydney in May, but Im not sure about seminars, dont think there will be anything for general public, most likely only stuff for club members.
  15. Yes she competes in the sport, and is very sucessfull. She has malinois. I have been to her seminar before and she is brilliant lovely person. Tiny, one has to wonder how does she manage those big shepherds and rotties in her club. She can read the dog VERY well and will only use corrections as a last result. I went to the seminar on the Gold Coast last year and she then came to Sydney for couple of days about 2 weeks later. On the Gold Coast she was focused on the obedience part in the seminar. In Sydney she helped couple of people with obedience and some bite work. Ive spend some time with her outside training it was god to see her opinions on various sports and types of dogs etc. Fun person to be out with! I highly recommend her as a trainer, Id go in a heartbeat again, unfortunatelly Im in Europe when she is here this year
  16. To have a dog to be a champion in the show ring you need a decent dog, doenst mean it will be a BIS winner. to have a dog very well trained and get a CD title doesnt mean that it will be a place getter at State Trials. and possibly getting a title on a natural dog isnt disrespectful to anyone. But out of this convo, leads nowhere.
  17. anita - I don't understand how Ruths post was disrespectful to anyone. I appreciate that people need to train the dogs etc, but I cant see an lack of respect by having a dog that does it naturally and her post saying she could easily get a title. never mind - fun days are great, I also wish we could have titles in NSW Id try to get one too.
  18. What I think Ruthless meant is that she didnt have to TRAIN the dog to chase the lure. I also go to fun days with my bitch and I feel the same as Ruthless - if there was a title to achieve Id get it easy for my dog - hold it at the start line, let it go and voila she would run like crazy. As to "work" put in - I get my shoulders ripped of from the sockets pretty much each time when I have to hold my dog in queue, I had a slipped disk once too from another dog pulling. I have to drive there and pay for the privilidge. That is "work". So are you saing that the people that have put titles on their dogs had to train the dogs to chase the lure? Im a bit confused here. In regards to the care for dogs health - I really dont know what you mean and what work would there be involved. Perhaps you can explain it to me please. Or do you mean they needed physically to prepare the dogs? Ruths and my dogs are in a great physical condition any day of the year so I guess we put work in daily anyway, if this is what you meant.
  19. That's pretty insulting for people who have put lure coursing titles on their dogs. Some dogs are naturals, but there's more to it than throwing them on a field, particularly if you care about the dogs' health and wellbeing. I hope you are not suggesting that Ruthless doesnt care about the health and wellbeing of her dogs when they go lure coursing
  20. I have been with my girl to fun lure coursing days several times. She goes absolutly nuts there and nearly pulls me off my feed to have a go. She doenst chase plastic bags other then at lure coursing BUT she does get a bit psycho at the sound of the rope being dragged through the grass... I was at a show once and the ring was made of a "plastic" rope. A show finished and I was doing obedience stay near by for practice. Couple of people started to pull the rings down and a guy was pulling the rope on the gorund through the grass and it was making the same sound as the one at lure coursing. My girls broke the stay and chased the rope, had great fun and the guy thought it was hilirious. I didnt distraction was too high for her level of training and I never though of it to be a distraction, if I did I would have stayed with her on lead or had her tied up etc. I did a bit of desensitizing later on just in case and she seems a lot better now. Midol - in Europe dogs (hounds) can earn luring titles, they have this all set up as sport and have judges assesing the dogs when they run, they time them etc. I have a friend that does it with a Polish Sighthound.
  21. Aussie Stafford. countless number of members here feed natural diets. Im one of them and have always fed my dogs BARF. Your dog doesnt get enough bones in his diet...
