  1. Erny - so what happend off lead? when the dog hears no zing?
  2. perhaps he has stronger nerves than some... IMHO to my dog a sound of a chain, regardles of what sound it makes is an association with an outing, hence he is happy. Whether it is trainig, walk or whatever, he knows that he gets corrections but than rewards so he is happy, I still dont belive he knows the difference between the sounds.
  3. Mine not only will force his head through a check chain, a limited slip collar, loves his flat one with a tag, but he will attempt to push his head through a closed prong ;-) and he probably would if I let him :-) So IMHO corrections or not, he knows that we are going somewhere and thats what he is excited about.
  4. I imagine you are talking about the avatar photo. Click on your own nickname, click on avatar options, than you get all info about the photo you need. choose from galery already provided or upload your own.
  5. I agree with K9. IMHO dog will hear the links moving and consider this the same in any situation.
  6. I must have mistaken you for that other poster - my appologies. A little photo under a nick name makes all the difference hint hint
  7. I was talking about this. My dog is on the level of CD trailing, so yes he knows a sit comand, plus several others.
  8. Coming back to the original discussion we started - what is wrong with the prong collar than? Do you say that it provides corrections that exceed what is reguired? Wouldnt it be in the user not the tool, just like we established with the check chain not long ago and all agreed to the same?
  9. I made my comment following K9s about what differenc will the zing be to a dog that doest it to itself? it will be the same if the dog is very energetic and lounges forward in excitement in comparison to what you would do with your hand performing a correction. Thats all. You compared the correction zing to a slow motion of links when dog moves. Well, MY dog doesnt move slow. Self inflicted zing would be the same as my correction hence confusion for the dog - in my case. I imagine that there are plenty of dogs that are like mine, he might be special to me, but is not so special when others compare him to other dogs.
  10. There might be some difference in YOUR case as you have a 12 yo dog that is obviously not quick most of the time. I assure you that a young strong dog can do a quicker bigger "zing" of a chain than I will ever be able to do.
  11. this has all yoru answers http://www.k9force.net/halter.html
  12. You are very right Kavik, I was almost thrown out from ob. club for having a prong on my dog. Was told that this is just like a barb wire and I am barbaric.... They never say buuu when people strungle their dogs with chains....... Double standard????
  13. Wouldnt this apply to any type of collar
  14. Perhaps some follow the rule if it isnt broken why fix it? I preffer to follow the rule - if you are not progressing you are actually going backwards.
  15. NIFIL - Nothing iin Life is Free - you can find it on K9Force's website. I have never done this in a unsecure area, however I have driven off about 3 times in the 5.5 years. Never managed to get out from the carpark..... I ahve climbed several tree though ;) and watched my dog run around in panic looking for me. They learn fast not to go exploring alone. 30 minutes is waaaaaaaay to long, you have either not run away far enough or your dog completly ignores the fact that you are gone - NILIF would be an answer, well for the beginning.
  16. Do you mean your dog would never ever chase you? Never look for you? If you got in the car and drove off he wouldnt care? If thats the case I would look at the relationship you have with your dog. Maybe some NIFIL would help.
  17. I have reorganised some people between 9.7 and 20.8. to maximise the benefits for dogs and owners by grouping them closer. The 20.08 will be a practical session for those that want to trial their dogs. Dogs attending are either trailing already or are just about to start. 9.07 is more of solving particular problems your dog has. I have a spot for 9.07 if anyone is interested. Also for the 20.08 there are few places available. - To attend this you will need to know some theory Steve presents.
  18. Bunny is up for adoption, I have a "maybe" from a friend and will know tomorrow. I can not keep this rabbit, it spends majority of the time locked up and doesnt get the attention if deserves. It has became very confident around my house over the weekend and walks around everywhere, dog became immune to it and ignores it completly. But I can not leave them unatented hence it is better bunny finds a new home. Bunny is extremly friendly, toilets in one area, will not dirty its enclosure. If anyone would like it please let me know.
  19. Pals  Taken over MY spot on theh lounge !!!
  20. And here it is He is sooo deep in his prAy that its bordering on meditation
  21. It is either the motivator that you use is not good enough or she doesnt know the command. It is not really good if you give the dog any commnad and wait 5 minutes for the dog to execute it. than give it a treat. Dos is to comply within a shortes possible time, it might save its live one day... You say come dog compies 5 minutes later but in the meantime get run over by the bus..... She doesnt do it straight away - you are not doing something correctly, or she doesnt know what to do.
  22. Why do you say that? Do you know how this type of collar is used? Dont let the look of it make your decision on the collar. That collar if used properly does not hurt the dog, in fact the correction by this collar is less peinfull than the one of a check chain.
  23. believe it or not didnt get your PM but will send you infor in a sec.
