  1. That is only becouse you pay attention to all the distrActions I provide K9 Ill take you as a staff member any day, need variety of people in a sucessfull org., you have the skills, someone might have the marketing abilities..... Im sure that there will be someone that will do the paperwork and great coffee
  2. PF - you'd enjoy me as a customer - I admit to everything. Especailly my lack of contribution I need someone with a
  3. I should explain - I dont think that becoming a dog trainer is my DREAM career. I do do it now as a volounteer and get a kick out of it, but I dont think I could do this as a full time employment. But I could run around classrooms handing out teaching material and being able to answer questions if asked And best cracking the whip on those that I would potentially employ.... K9 do you want to work for me when I open my pro school one day? sorry about hijack.....
  4. Herr Rott - I would definitelly do the course, for myslef. As to opportunities - in Sydney - how could we compete with K9 Force, surly would not be competing on price........... nor on knowledge.............. We would have to get him out of this town first :protest:
  5. Were your ears burning on Sat afternoon? I had a lesson with Steve and he was telling me about you and your dog. I will also sign the entry for to the K9 fan club. And thank you DOL for making it possible for me to find him.
  6. if thats the case why for Rex one ball is soooooo much more valuable than the other?
  7. Bit off topic here but I just wanted to say that I tried to teach my dog unsucessfully for almost 5 years to fetch (obviously Im a lausy teacher) and somehow dont even know how he started bringing the item back to me in prey drive after a handfull of play sessions. We are faaaaar from perfect but just the fact that he does run back to me full speed almost crashing into me with the ball in his mouth is just jawdropping. And on the note of prey drive and satysfying items.... I train with a ball on a string. My dog is too polite to steal anything from the table (no matter how juicy the steak would be its safe on the table). Last night I left the ball on the table. 30 minutes later there is Rexy carrying it around thief! I was stunned to say the least.
  8. Kavik - my low prey drive dog has somewhat developed a need for chasing that ball on a string..... if mine can do it yours can as well. Why dont you practice with him in a familiar places (dog park he knows) where there are no other dogs around so he is comfortable there. I got OH to be with me, we threw the ball between each other for a while, let the dog do whatever it wanted to do and ignored him, within minutes it got bored with sniffing around and two of us playing was a better option. We were having fun laughing, running around etc, he was bored after sniffing the whole park.... We let him chase the ball betwen us untill he was half dead, and he hardly got the ball to catch. Maybe try that - it worked for a 6yo low prey driven Rexy. And one day he just clicked. I cant even tell you how it happened, just went from black to white almost overnight. And let me tell you I dont train a lot
  9. dogmaster - Oh just read your 2 posts on DOL - somehow I get the feeling you have some underlying agenda, please correct me if Im wrong.
  10. dogmaster - just to clarify..... Why would anyone want to use a extremly high stimulation on a dog when excellent training can be achieved with low stim ones such as the cheep Innotek ones???? another question - do the collars you mention go low enough? With a statement like that you just add to the bad reputation of ecollars - was this your intention??? its not the tool its the user - what kind of a user of that tool are you? BTW welcome to DOL. Care to share some info about yourself and your dogs on the Welcoming Mat?
  11. Dobe 36-37 kg He eats about 1kg of food a day, a bit more lets say 1.2kg Chicken carcesses once a week - not more than $1 Chicken wings once - twice a week $5 max lamb/beef bones twice a week $5max fish once a week $3 mince and veg once twice a week - max $5 Plus missing link, liver, etc - I think its all up about $20 Plus some vitamins, fish oil capsules etc. if I go splashing the money around I get scottys rolls $6.50 each he will eat it in 2 days.
  12. Am - ecollar is your answer. But it needs to be tought the right way ( that I got from Steve) and it will work. Yes I also suffer by having a smart animal that full well knows the difference between the leash and no leash. try long line dragging for a while, he will have to get used to it and will forget that its dragging after a while. Basically I went through a period of ecollar plus long line.
  13. As a tip - have the toy/prey item that is not available for her to have at any other times than with you training/playing. Get a special ball on a string (or whatever item she will like) and hide it when you are finished doing what you want to do, leaving her want the toy more.
  14. Can the person that have paid and didnt attend contact me privatelly. I very smartly deleted all the emials now....... and cant remember who it was. If someone still has the bulk emials that I was sending can you please send it to me, it might help to identify some people
  15. In general yes. I practice what I preach. The only thing that I preach and dont do myslef is the amoun of time I train. I tell people to train every day, I dont do that myslef
  16. Remember that part of the seminar and what I always repeat in every class. Teach, Train, Proof for now you cant train with other dogs....... until you build the level of responce where you will be alble to add distractions. or for a stay, time before distance before distractions. C'mon Tarka, You have heard me say this over and over like a broken record. Guys you need the video (I need the video as well), and than you need to watch it couple of times for it to sink in. (Speaking from experience) Than you will start speaking the magic language of big circles, rising thresholds and knocking out of drive Who was the tall lady that left early??? We need her to give us the first part of the day on tape.
  17. Stop it, I might get emotional here I enjoy doing things like that, I think I even started to enjoy driving the 80km one way between my and your house :D I have done this and various other things becouse I can see that people have the same problems that I have and dont know what to do, where to go etc to get help and whatever they are doing fails them. BTW when I offered that you keep Rex you decided not to For those that dont know (the "Keep Rex" was for 3 days when I went away skiing)
  18. Kristy, Tisha is a girl, they can back up to Rex any time he really enjoys this part of his life as long as they dont want to eat him, and they are a large female he will immiediatelly fall in love. Guaranteed. I just didnt give him an opportunity to find out if he is going to be eaten or is it the time to fall in love
  19. Ruby is not demented she is lovely, full of drive that is not satisfied... As to integration of prey drive into a city dog - seen Rex recently? especially when at the club with Benny - Casimas GSD when they :fetch: ? thats how prey drive is integrated into city dogs. Well at least we try....... Remember the black lab in your last class, the 8yo one? After I gave the owner the ball and the long lead - that is a perfect example for you. I have to say that Im happy that Rex and Ruby got on fine, you might decide to join us for some after training walks one day.
  20. I didn't even realise he was agressive Myszka, and here was I watching him and thinking what a perfect dog ;) @ perfect dog Do you remember in the first part and the first drawing Steve does? what is the first thing? Is a "tick". Well I guess I have that under control :D I know what ticks him, and from how far away. :p Oh and I guess I have learned not to miss the body language signs, before he goes into the big circle ;) Apart from that yes he is perfect
  21. Mana, I will give you the tapes and you can practice some of your skills. Im hopeless with names, sorry, who was the tall lady that left early. She taped the first part we could combine the films with her. Maybe its not one of the DOLers... we will see. I have that part taped from a workshop before but its on a VHS tape now, so I guess we cant do much with that....
  22. Oh remebered something :D each time Im at Steves I learn something, I have heard what he presents several times now, but yesterday the theory of inflation kicked in for me So I went out at night yesterday with Rex and played ball, he is obseesed about that ball now... I used to do a sit, down, sit and a bit of a stay before I threw it again. but yesterday I did the usual, than a heel (OMG how good was the heel) than a minute stay (he was shaking like leaf all the time) then throw. I did about 30 mintues of training, and no more than 10 throws. Rex was soooooooo tired when we came back as if he had run 20 km So today I did a heeling pater nas in Novice before the throw, than that plus slow pace followed by the throw. Tonight Im going to attempt to do the whole Novice healing paters off lead before I throw the ball.
  23. Sidoney - there is a sign.......... So do I gather from your description of the fear agressive dogs there was some improvement seen after I left? What I shame I couldnt stay, I hope that its on the video what I missed. I have done step 1 of desentization process with Steve and Kayne and it was simple if explained properly and shown properly. Right tools, knowledge etc and the stuff really does work. I think I need some more confidence in myself ..... as well as I need a team of a person and dog that will help in the process.... I have to say that I was very pleased with Rex yesterday, not only he wasnt "eating" any dogs, but I dont think that he growled at all, plus he did some very nice long stays for me without being a nuisance. Plus this morning we were attacked by a JRT on a mission, and although I had to run and somewhat pull Rex with me, he didnt actually lounge at the offender, just growled big time, hackles up big time etc. And than when the JRT ended up on lead I could let Rex off lead and he just completly ignored the little one, despite the fact that JRT was still growling and carrying on. I had a stressfull morning walk, but in a good way, I achieved 100% of what I wanted. Each comand to come despite the carrying on JRT was 100% obeyed, etc. I was very happy, although had eyes around my head wide open all the time. I hope that everyone enjoyed the workshop and learned something.
