  1. Thank you everyone for your comments and advice. I have tried teaching her sit any other way I know and she just doesnt want to do it :p stubborn little thing Im guessing its a kickback from the showring where the dogs are tought not to sit. We are doing a lot better with the down command. And she had mastered "do you want a belly rubby bubby" in less than a day She also decided that the Kong on the string I train Rex with must be of some extra special value and is desperate to have it, or more Rex not to have it. WWIII almost broke out when I got it out once.... so now we are playing with the Kong seperatelly. Mind you they are happy to share the lounge and the teaddy bear and try to fit in the crate together And on top of that I think she decided that my place is her place now as well and barks her head off at anyone near the fence (not being unreasonably silly, just when they are almost touching the fence) - so maybe there is some truth into this jbbb
  2. Yes my collar is waterproof, Rex has been in the water in it few times, not that he swims, but at the beach he sort of splashes around in shallow water. DVD comes with the collar, but I dont think its enough info, gives you an idea no doubt. Contact K9 Force about the book.
  3. My Rexy Prey = 50 Pack = 60 Defense - Fight = 40 Defense - Flight = 20
  4. I got mine from K9 Force and its Innotek. Its one of the new designs 9 levels and 250m range. I also got a manual from K9 (that he mentions above) on how to use it along with lessons, and who knows how many ( I hope he isnt counting, are you K9? :D ) emails with questions and points of advice. I believe you can purchase the manual on its own from K9 if you get the collar from elswhere, its a 45 page book. The DVD that comes with it I dont think has enough info it bare minimum. I certainly will be using the collar again on my next dog, its not even a year old so I cant tell you how long does it last for. The plastic is a bit cr@py and I had pieces breaking off it, but rang Innotek and had it exchanged no questions asked straight away. I charge it once a week and its used every day on our walk. As to head halter and check chains, mine are collecting dust these days, I wont be using them ever again. A small update on the girl. I put the collar on and off over last couple of days with no stim, with probes at the back. I did a small lesson with the recall today and she was very happy coming to me, the q is did I make her collar literate? Probably not as yet, we will see how we go tomorrow. Also she seemes to forgotten the word wait all together and I have a velcro dog (not that she was different before) and those eyes, OMG will someone take those eyes off me plizzzz
  5. I will hand her back, most likely with a broken heart. I have looked after her twice before, but this time it is going to be for quite a few weeks so it will be harder. A lot harder..... She is however a potential dam of my future puppy As to the price of ecollars - worth every dollar, very good investment. I wish I got one earlier when it was first recommended to me.
  6. I meant she becomes less happy immiediatelly when I put the collar on her neck, not when the stim is on. Its a bit hard to "teach" her come as she does it galloping back no probs. Thanks for advice K9 I will of course try later today, when it gets cooler, right now she is sitting under my desk pushing her head between my legs so that she can look into my eyes. Gotta love her, she is sooooo good. **** Edited to add the photo taken 3 minutes ago, she doesnt stop looking at me like that 24/7, if only man gave so much attention and devotion :D
  7. I am looking after friends dobie bitch for a while. She is one fantastic dog, willing to please, happy outgoing nature, very well behaved, no probs whatsoever. She is 3.5yo. She knows two comands (very well I might add) - come and wait. Since she is going to be at my place for quite sometime I though I will teach her some more words. After teaching my own dog (at the age of 5) few things with an ecollar and finding it very effective I thought about using it on the girl. I found the working level no probs and tried teaching her "sit", but I think that she somewhat shuts down with the ecollar on. I know that she used to wear an antibarking collar, which is a lot stronger than the collar Im using and perhaps she has a bad association with the probes on her neck, and fears them a bit? Any thoughts? Any advice? Perhaps someone has a dog that has two collars and can share the experiences. I might add that I only did one small training session so far, but this is my first observation, I might find it completly different in few days time.
  8. In my case its me saying (in Polish) are we going for a walk? If I dont say it, the dog triggers on me putting sports shoes on (several pairs, never gets confused with anything Id wear for work - amazing) ecollar remote and of course the ball. When out and about he is free to do whatever he wants if he is far I whistle to get attention, wave the ball and he is in that shaking mood immiediatelly. God forbids I say - OK are you ready?
  9. bit of adreanalin will wake you up guys
  10. Im not jumping Ali - get info from the horses mouth I suggest. We dont want any dissapointement.....

  13. annaz747 - www.K9Force.net book inmmiediatelly, there is a long waiting time for a consult. Worth waiting and worth the travel, you will not find anyone better than Steve.
  14. I belive in here http://www.k9force.net/ws113.html the GSD is wearing one below the ecollar And in here definitelly http://www.k9force.net/prong.html And here is my dobe with a half prong (spikes are shorter than normal), but he is a short haired dog... http://lukrowi.pl/galeria/index.php?p=2&id...re=6178#section
  15. On a discussion level only as well isnt the $1000 that elevates your drive? not the flick of the band..... Yes youd put up with the flick for a $1000 but Id imagine it would be better if there was no flick all together there, yes?
  16. Read up on Traingle of Tempatation here is some info written by K9 Force http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...emptation&st=15 and start using it from today if you tell us what part of Australia (or the world) you are from we might be able to direct you to a specific person for training.
  17. Do you mean it irrated his skin? Did you have one where the prongs were just cut straight or did you have a stainless steel one with prongs nicely rounded? could you please explain how do you do a downward pop? Dog is pulling at the front of you, do you squat, put your foot on the lead? I just cant imagine doing it, unless the dogs head is higher than my hand...
  18. move interstate In all seriousness tho, Id get a prong, put a bandana on it - well this is what Id be doing. Actually I would get an ecollar if I had a choice between the two - prong and electronic. But most importantly you need to be the leader and a thinker and not put her in the situation where she will go all silly and uncontrollable. Have your eyes open, you see another dog you walk away before she gets a chance to pull like crazy. Than for walking nicely reward.
  19. K9: you need her to focus on the line, ie keep her in drive initialisation, this is where focus occurs... With voice & hand control, you can hold her & raise her to the theshold of drive peak, have her explode on take off this way... Oh thank you both for this. Here is the diff Kavik in normal language (not that sofisticated training one K9 usues ) Rex goes nuts about the lawnmower. If I let him he bites the wheels off, barks his head off, runs around like a maniac. That is before we start it, hell breaks loose when the mower is actually on  Yes that is drive peak. The other day OH was mowing, it was almost dark, Rex doing his - Im gonna kill those wheels thing - when a rat run pass him in the bushes in the yard. He went for it and in a split second killed it..... Drive peak v's drive initialisation (in my earlier post)
  20. MM - get yourself delivered to K9 Force, he is booked out usually 2-3 months ahead, but ask him if he is planning on doing any open workshops in a near future maybe you could attend one of them. Often people car pull to go to them, each time I went I gave a lift to someone. Kavik - as to your q re prey drive and excitement etc. Im not 100% sure but perhaps the prob is that your step of training under distraction was too soon, Zoe couldnt overcome her nerves and went back into what she knew - agression. Maybe the proximity of the dogs was the step too big in her training. As you know Rex aint a loving pussy cat but I have followed Steves advice and train and train in prey drive as much as I can (which in reality is 10-15 minutes a day and involves sit, drop heal recall and throwing of the ball as a reward and time out). No other dogs around, he is absolutly mental about the ball right now and he wasnt in the beginnig at all... Couple of days ago when I was training on the golf course there was a dog walking pass behind a chicken wire fence. What a perfect opportunity for me to see what will my dog do.. I threw the ball in the directon of the fence and the dog, Rex run for it blind, got it and brought it back. As if the outside world didnt exist  I did another test, I let him go and do whatever he wanted, he spoted the dog stifened up and run towards it. In a situation where there was no fence I would have by than have a heart attack. I let it go to see what will he do, he went closer and closer to the fence, pass the comfort zone if it wasnt there. I called him he stoped and looked at me, so I produced the ball, and he was just so happy galloped full speed back to me, got the ball as a reward. My personal conclusion is that I have reached the level in him of the desire for the ball being higher than his desire for the WWIII with another dog, or even investigation of the other dog. I let him do whatever he wanted, all he wanted was to play with me, forgot about the other dog... but he was still extremly excited. Here is my 6 yo dog agro male. 6 months ago he certainly would bring aything back, often wouldnt chase and certainly wouldnt be so focused on me http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=v9CrqwXjQTk This is what I do with him every day for 10-15 minutes as work in prey drive.
