Oh Crap - That Might Have Been Me! Crazy Dog Lady = checking the calendar to see if we are entered in a show BEFORE being able to commit to any other social event not involving dogs. (yep there are some of those that go on!)

Can someone pls email the catalogue to me at [email protected] Really only after the Chihuahua's! Thanks in advance!
-
hehehe - We have our Chihuahua specialty next month - try draping a sash over them! I've made up coloured satin jackets for the major awards to go with the sash: Gold = BIS, Silver = RUBIS, Dark Purple = Challenges...........etc The jackets work for a small breed.

I'm sure if this woman had a child in the car then the child would not be allowed to sit in her lap or run around freely!

Pap - I have two "puppy pad holders" purchased from a pet store. They anchor whatever you are using with clips on each side. I put hand towels in them - very hard for puppies to rip up!! :-)

Dont have any where are they nows - but really just wanted to say nice pics! (no "like" button in here-LOL) :D

If close enough to my front fence I would squirt them with the hose - otherwise im with Oakway, I would stay the heck out of it.

Yay!!! Huge congrats - thats a massive win to get her there! Cant wait to see you both ringside soon! (who gets to handle her you or Renee?) LOL ME and only ME. Renee gets 'Jake' now. I'll show the girls instead. Amy is my baby and I hate being away from her. LOL - I thought as much! (and so it should be)! At least Renee can relax with Jake, he is such a lovely natured boy & I cant wait for another cuddle! We are at the gong this weekend, but I don't know what show next after that because of Poung's babies - but hope to see you & Amy soon! :-)

There are some Awesome ideas in here guys! (Really love the magnet - thats how I keep a lot of my "important numbers" handy with the vet magnet on the fridge)! I hear you Jerojath - but I only intend to breed to improve my showing group and as they only have small litters and I have only bred 5 litters in 6 years I am really not too worried about having the furry little buggers back to visit. (But I might put some conditions on there though!) Tommygirl - what sort of info brochures did you get - I dont remember seeing any at the local Petbarn? Sounds like a great place to look for stuff though! Yep Jed - puppy training info is a must, too many people think of Chi's as just little dogs who don't have manners, so often due to lack of training! Will talk to the lady we do puppy training with and grab some info from her! Thanks again guys!

I am putting together folders for each of the puppies that were whelped last week in anticipation of their forever homes (even though I intend keeping one)! Contents include - but not limited to The mandatory stuff like: All of my contact details Pedigree papers Vaccination Cert & details of current vet Worming details Feeding schedule (will include food in the care pack) Breed Standard Some fun photos from birth to sale of pup A picture of Sire & Dam Voucher for "ANYTIME - Puppy Holiday / Minding" Puppy blanket, toy, & harness What other things do you include for your pet buyers (as the sale pups will all be on L/R)?

I totally agree with Sandra777 - start your relationship with these people with an honest & rational conversation! I have actually given a puppy as a present in the past. I arranged it for Christmas for my father. I had my stepmother organise a quiet room for the pup before I arrived. I had picked up the pup from her breeder about a week beforehand so that she had some time to feel comfortable and calm around my dogs before we went to my folks house. Luckily one of my bitches actually adopted this pup as her own and the pup somewhat bonded with her. After she was given to my father, cuddled, named & fussed over for 1/2 an hour, we settled her into the quiet room with her adopted mother until the Christmas guests had left. All I am trying to point out is that these people may also be able to provide something quiet and calm in the middle of a celebration and the pup will not be overly traumatised by it. (They might just be having dinner & cake - but you wont know unless you ask!) Good Luck!

oh Toy Dog - that is awful! You must have been horrified! maybe show them all the poor dogs on the rescue thread? or convince them to go to their local shelter to see some of the poor crossbreeds who have ended up on death row? Explain to them how an ethical, registered breeder is prepared to be there for the life of the dog - not just until the sale is completed! Ask them if they have spoken to their vet about the possible cross bred, BYB dogs that they see in their practice with issues?

Weeeelllll - after a long Friday of stage one labour, three hours with my mentor assisting in stage two, it was decided that she could not whelp without vet intervention! She had two pups presenting together & one was breech, so it was the right decison. So we trotted off to the vet just after 8.30pm and drove in at home at 10.30 with four healthy babies. Two boys & two girls. All babies have gained weight solidly since Friday and mum has taken to them like a seasoned pro! Just now have to convince mum that she needs to eat some solid food instead of the liquid diet that she has been on. Suggestions please? Have tried: Tuna, puppy food, scrambled egg, roast pork, ham, bacon, BBQ Chicken (Vet told me cat food, but havent tried that yet) She will eat a little bit then spit it out and not go near it again - very frustrating!

As we speak, my expectant long coat Chi is asleep under my desk. She was here last week in the air con during our heatwave. I have a very wonderful boss who adores my dogs and is happy for them to be here because they are so well behaved! They almost always make an appearance at Christmas time every year on the last day too because I go on holidays straight from work. (Its kind nice when you are having a bad moment to be able to look down at an adoring face and know that someone loves you!)
