Hi, Does anyone know of a good dog walker or doggy daycare in or near Ipswich? Thanks.

Our girl CKCS X is Poppy. We liked Lucy and Rosie too! Her sisters are Rosie and Bella!

SO cute!!! Our CKCS X who is 8 month old no longer sleeps in her crate because she literally sleeps better on our bed, curled up between DF and I!!! Spoilt much?! Lol!

Dogs That Sleep In The House - Question On Times
PoppyDog replied to JulesP's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have an 8 month old CKCS X who was crate trained but now sleeps on our bed and sleeps SO much better with us. I personally think its in her temprement. She wants to be with us and feels most comfortable that way. We go to bed at varying times. Sometimes as early as 8pm other time quite late. We sleep with our bedroom door closed and about once a week, sometimes less, she wakes, jumps off the bed and sits next to me, looking at me. That's when I know she needs to go. I don't mind taking her because she is SO quick now. It's cold and I think she wants to get back to bed as much as I do! She held from 10 till 6am when we got her at 8 weeks so we have been lucky! -
I feed my 16 week old CKCSx supercoat puppy as it's what she was fed on before I got her. The seller also gave us a full bag of it so I have just continued with it. My problem is that our puppy eats her food sooo fast! I also think she burns it off too fast! She has had bouts of runny poos although I don't think that was completely to do with the supercoat. Either way I'm not really happy with it and will be changing her over to optimum puppy when we finish the bag we are on.

Sounds good! Hopefully greytmate and Ams can come too! I think it would be great for Poppy to meet some great danes as she does tend to be quite wary of BIG dogs! Poppy won't be completely covered by her vac's until next Thursday (1st of April) so we could plan a meet anytime after that! Why don't you all PM me dates and times that suit you and we can go from there!

Weekend afternoons suit me! And I live very close to that dog park too, the one at Brassall! Poppy (my 15 week old CKCS X) has only met a handful of dogs. And ACDX who is crazy and loves her so much! The first time they met Poppy took an hour before she would play with him! He was VERY full on and it was too much for her! But she has since warmed up to him completely! She has also met a BIG Irish Setter names Rosie. This is probably the first large dog she has liked. And then all the puppies at puppy preschool. I would say Poppy is pretty calm, especially when meeting new dogs and especially if they are bigger than her...which most are. The ACDX sounds very similar to your dog. His owner is going to limit puppy playdates as he is SO distracted when other dogs are around that she wants him to be obendient around other dogs not just in a one on one situation. I am happy to support you in your training with your doggy and I'm sure others are too. I'm by no means an expert when it comes to puppies and dogs and am happy to take direction in terms of the type of play the dogs do with one another...if that makes sense! Would you be interested in coming to Brassall? If Nth Booval is quiet on weekend arvo's I am happy to travel there as I'm not sure how quiet Brassall would be on weekend arvos? I've never taken Poppy to a dog park but I drive past it often and most afternoons there are a dogs or a dog there.

That sounds great! Will PM you with possible locations when we have more interest! And fingers crossed we do!

Hi Everyone, I would like to start a regular meet up in the Ipswich area for our puppies/doggies to play and socialise. Puppies would need to be FULLY vaccinated as meets would most likely be at a dog park. If your puppy/dog has been to Puppy Preschool and or Obedience/Agility Club but you would like a less structured play time for them then this is for you. I am open to suggestions of places to meet that may be more friendly for puppies that are not completely vaccinated. I have a CKCS X who is 15 weeks old. She had her 3rd vac yesterday so will be completely covered in two weeks time. Poppy (my puppy) is currently attending Puppy Preschool and has had regular playdates with our pet sitters ACD X who is 10 weeks older than her.

YES!!! I forgot this!!! I wondered why Poppy poo'ed inside ALL THE TIME but never really did wee's inside! It was because she would wee outside, we would do the huge good girl thing, pats, treats and then all go inside. Once we were inside she would THEN remember "oh I need to poo too" and go and do it on the tiles! Silly me! We are getting MUCH better at doing poo's outside now! But you do have to be very patient!

Hi! Congrats on becoming a puppy mummy! We have had our 14 week old CKCS X Cavoodle for 6 weeks and we are STILL working on the thoilet training! She is MUCH better though compared to when we first got her. Here is what we did (I'm no expert...just sharing our story). We didn't crate train. We took Poppy out every half hour to an hour to begin with. When she wee'd or poo'd we would say a que word. Ours is "quick quick" in a happy voice. Like she is doing something good! Then after the wee/poo we did the big "Good Girl" thing and gave her a treat. It was hard work...and sometimes we forgot and she would wonder off and do it in the house. Now I can take her out, say "Quick Quick", she will look at me and go off to do either a wee or poo or both. She really does associate the que word with the toileting action. Its important to ONLY say the que word when they are actually wee'ing or poo'ing to begin with though. We still treat her after she has done something outside. We also leave the back doors open for her when we are home and unless its raining she goes out by herself and does her thing. Hope that helps!

No, she hasn't! Will get the vet to check out her vulva on Thurs when we go iin for her final vac. Her girly bits look fine though. Not red or anything. That does help actually! Glad another Cavy pup is doing it!

Reccomend Me A Grooming Salon In Ipswich Area
PoppyDog replied to PoppyDog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks Fudo! Do they have a website? Thanks anyway Pepi! -
Hi Everyone, Can anyone reccomend me a grooming salon in the Ipswich area? I have a 14 week old CKCS X Cavoodle who needs the hair under her paws trimmed. She also needs her nails clipped. I know I could do these things at home but I'm a first time puppy owner and don't feel confident in doing it. On top of that I really want to get our puppy used to a salon environment as I don't know what her coat will do as she grows and I might need to use a salon regularly in the future. Thanks in advance!

What's The Most Disgusting Thing Your Dog Has Done?
PoppyDog replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
:D That was my reaction too! By the time she was finally swallowing it I realised what she was doing!!! She also went off and had a big drink of water after that! :D -
I am in no way or shape an expert...in fact I am a first time puppy owner but my 14 week old CKCS X is a gutsy eater and I had been worried about feeding her too much. Turned out I did need to feed her a bit more and get a bit more weight on her! My pet sitter and vet said that puppies can be a little on the chubby side as they are still growing. They said when they hit 6 - 8 months is when you need to be mindful of their weight. Anyway I just upped the amount of dry food I was feeding her at each meal and also introduced MORE minced chicken carces at dinner. I wonder if puppy milk would help or if it would just give Hector a runny tummy! I know it didnt agree with my pup!

What's The Most Disgusting Thing Your Dog Has Done?
PoppyDog replied to Dame Aussie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poppy (our 14 week old CKCS X) recently pooped out a whole treat, fished it out of the poo, verrry carefully, then sniffed at it, put it in her mouth, spat it out, sniffed again, in mouth, spat out, sniffed again and ate it before gagging a bit! Needless to say I don't think she will be doing that again in a hurry!!! -
No, no chews, I haven't actually let him have any treats yet, just the supacoat and milk, and water. I think I will wean him off the milk and maybe replace it with water slowly. Ive read that he shouldn't be introduced to any new foods for 2 weeks; is this about right? As I'd like to introduce mince to his diet, with a little vegies, but don't want to do it too soon?? I only waited to add raw minced chicken as I wasn't aware of the benefits of feeding it. As a newbie puppy owner I thought dry supercoat was all my puppy needed. In hindsight I am glad I waited. I think it was good to have that adjusting period. I haven't added raw vegies yet but might in the future. Poppy has had apple, carrot, watermelon and raw egg on her food and hasn't reacted badly to any! ;)

Our 14 week old CKCS X has been dragging her bottom on and off since we got her. She is regularly worm and flea treated. Has been checked over by our local vet and had her anal glands checked. All is fine with her yet she still (only occasionally) drags her bottom. I do notice that sometimes its after a poo, other times its not. So my Q is...Is this normal? TIA

When we bought our 8 week old pup home she had soft poops. The person we got her from also reccomended Supercoat & Puppy Milk. As first time EVER puppy/dog owners we went out and bought the puppy milk and followed the sellers instructions to a tee! We very quickly stopped the puppy milk (I think we only fed her 2 meals with it) and kept going with the supercoat and a tablespoon or two of warm water. At around 12 weeks we added minced chicken carceses and she LOVES them! Her poos are nice and firm now! HTH!
