  1. All the best with your move Kelpiekaye. It certainly sounds stressful to me! I'm very jealous though - somewhere without ticks and snakes sounds like heaven to me.
  2. Oh Sunnyflower, you did such a brave thing. My heart goes out to you and your family. Oscar sounds like he had lovely last days with his favourite things to do and eat. RIP lovely little man. Hugs.
  3. I'm so sorry to hear this Noisymina. My thoughts go out to you and your family at this very sad time. RIP Kaisie.
  4. Ahhh, thank you Kelpiekaye - so not what I was picturing LOL!!!! They look good.
  5. Could someone please post a photo - I Googled but couldn't find any pictures and I just can't get my head around it!
  6. It sounds like a definite improvement for Lilly - very good news. Fingers crossed. I wonder what it is with the pooping though?
  7. Thanks for the update Lillysmum - hopefully it turns out to be something simple.
  8. I didn't realise they were 7 days either (lucky my neighbour did though) - we thought we'd have to go to either Chermside or the Sunshine Coast. He needed to be hospitalised so it was great they were so close. Our pup has struvite crystals in his urine - he's on a special diet at the moment. He was only 11 months old when diagnosed so quite young to be having problems. He's doing great though. Let us know how you get on with Lilly.
  9. We go out to the Beerwah vet but when our puppy got a tick on a Sunday we went to Caboolture District Animal Hospital as they are open 7 days/week. They are on the corner of Bribie and Pasturage Roads (just on the way to Bribie) about 5 minutes from the centre of Caboolture. We were happy with their service. We've just had the same pup with bladder issues too!! Hugs to Lilly. If you need anything just give me a yell.
  10. I'm so very, very sorry for your loss RL1. Hugs to you.
  11. Thanks for the replies everyone. dancinbcs - who prescribed the Chinese herbs (ie a vet)? LabTested - I don't think so - the vet seemed very specific about NOTHING else but perhaps I could check out the ingredients. My boy likes high value treats at the best of times - he's just going to laugh if I offer him this dry food! Curlybert - glad to hear your girl's doing so well. My boy doesn't like the food much - I'm hoping hunger will improve this. CavsRcute - that's good news about your girl. What dose do you give and are they just the capsules you buy at the chemist?
  12. He had x-rays, which didn't show any stones anywhere, haematology (sorry, don't know what this included), urine chemistry, urine specific gravity, urine sediment, electrolyte panel and general health profile (don't know what this included either). The culture on the urine; "Bacteria not isolated after 24 or 48 hours. Colony count <10 000 orgs/mL. Colony count is a standard count of bacterial cells in urine. Antibiotic activity negative. Antibiotic activity is a measure of the antibacterial effect of urine." Does any of this help Rappie? Thanks.
  13. The vet mentioned Dalmations - I can't remember what she said though - I think it was that this wasn't like that (damn my memory). I have a mini Poodle.
  14. My 11 month old boy has just been diagnosed with struvite crystals in his urine. A urine sample was highly alkaline but there was no underlying infection. The vet has put him on a prescription diet (Royal Canin) and said he will have to be on this for the rest of his life. She said it will likely take about three months on the diet for the crystals to clear. He is to have nothing but this dry food; no chicken wings, no meaty bones, no BARF and no treats for training (his usual diet). I've a few questions: Has anyone else had experience with this? How do I train without treats? (I clicker train) I'm going to do some research but thought I'd see what info other DOLers may have. I have concerns about him being on this diet for a few months, let alone the rest of his life (but obviously I want what is best for him). It's going to be fun trying to feed one bones and not the other! Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I just received an order last week frufru (the first time I've ordered from them). I was very happy - nice prompt delivery and good prices.
  16. Fantastic news. Soooo relieved Tess is ok.
  17. We had a bit of thunder yesterday and I put the shirt on and didn't think Lily was as bad as usual. Today however there have been massive storms with thunder and lightning for hours. She's been pretty upset but I'm going to persevere with this. I don't think she was running around trying to hide as much as she usually does.
  18. Oh no GoldenGirl, how scary. My JRT is freaked out by storms. Praying she turns up safe and well. Hugs.
  19. Hesapandabear - yours should be close - I'm not far from you and I got mine today.
  20. I got mine today. Thank you to everyone involved - it looks fabulous and I can't wait to get cooking.
  21. How terribly tragic - I am so very, very sorry. Hugs for everyone.
  22. Thanks for the link Tilly - I couldn't see the listing for vets though. I've printed out the info. Crisovar - said they were "thinking about them". However I'd prefer the yearly vaccine given every three years. Fiona - that was my understanding too. Staranais - thanks for your input. Erny - it would be nice if kennels/obedience/agility clubs would come in line with current recommendations (not to mention vets). Yes, I can respect their policy but then we miss out on these activities. I've already decided not to re-vaccinate my older dog (no obedience or agility so no worries there) and cats (indoor cats only). Good luck with the tax stuff - I procrastinated for so long and then when I finally sorted the receipts etc I felt sooo much better (but procrastination is my middle name, maybe my first!!). I think I might do some ringing around the area. Of course that still leaves the obedience/agility problem. It's not a worry now, he's only a pup so I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
