The RSPCA says the dog was found this morning at suburban Blakeview inside the galah cage, and they didn't know how long it had been there. "To lock a large dog of roughly 30kg in a cage this size so that he can't even turn around, with no water, is absolutely disgusting," RSPCA Chief Inspector Simon Richards said. "I can't recall an animal being dumped in this manner. It would have been incredibly stressful for him." Insp Richards said the dog was currently too stressed and aggressive to handle, so was yet to be checked for a microchip. He said an investigation was underway and those responsible could face a maximum two-year jail term or a $20,000 fine. *** I hope the SA RSPCA is not like the one in WA, otherwise I would hold grave fears for this dog. *** who dumps a dog like this

I believe Nathan went to the council when the laws were announced, they agreed for the ranger to come around and assess the dogs, the ranger assessed they were pitbulls therefore could not be registered and seized. So although Bear & Kooda's parents were cleared of having any pitbull in them, their pups were not

A lot of emails were sent, but nothing helped. Even today, the council were still doing the dirty. They were not meant to be killed until tomorrow, (Friday) and at the last minute the owners were told it was today. Please still tell them what you think, and also tell the State Government, please. I have sent a few emails, not sure how much notice they will take from mine as we are in WA (I have been following Bear & Kooda on FB) Next election is when they need to pay for this and not be re-elected Its disgusting beyond words what has happened hear and the treatment of both the dogs and Sammi & Nathan - having the date changed with little notice and if the first vet hadnt refused to euthanase them, I am sure Sammi & Nathan wouldnt have had a chance to even say goodbye

Such a horrible outcome for Bear, Kooda, Sammi & Nathan, a pox on the council for their handling of this. Its a shame this information and addresses were not posted earlier when sending letters or email might have made a difference

Maya Wicksteed was savaged by the three bull Arab mastiff dogs and three other dogs, including a german shepherd and a red cloud kelpie, at a Baldivis property last Friday. She was taken to hospital where she received hundreds of stitches to bite injuries to her head, face and body. Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the three dogs were euthanised at the owner's request. Mr Sammels said an investigation into the attack was continuining and no one had been prosecuted. Maya's father Bruce Wicksteed told of his horror when he realised his daughter had been attacked, describing her as “a screaming ball of sand and blood”. Mr Wicksteed was visiting a neighbour with Maya when he heard his daughter screaming. “The owner of the property was laying down on the ground. Six dogs were aggressively just going for it, trying to get underneath him and then I realised I could hear her screaming, I realised Maya was underneath them,” Mr Wicksteed said. “Maya was a screaming ball of sand and blood. Police later told me she had been dragged over a 40-metre area.” In an act that Mr Wicksteed said saved his daughter’s life, his neighbour jumped on top of the dogs and held them down to free Maya. Then, Mr Wicksteed grabbed her and ran towards the property’s house as the dogs chased them. "As we got closer to the door, I was just praying that it was unlocked,” he said. “I got there, the door was unlocked, just as the dogs arrived behind me. “I slammed the door on them as they were jumping up.” Mr Wicksteed said he wanted dog laws changed to include bull Arab mastiffs as a classified dangerous dog. “They are a killing machine. If a dog can't differentiate between a pig and a little girl, there's an issue,” he said. The vicious attack has prompted the WA Local Government Association to urge local councils to develop dog control strategies to prevent future attacks. WALGA president Troy Pickard said most dog control laws had not been changed for more than 35 years and were did not meet community expectations. "I welcome the announcement by the Minister that he intends to introduce a Dog Amendment Bill to the coming session of Parliament," he said. "It is encouraging that his proposed amendments will consider prohibiting the availability, breeding and sale of dangerous breeds and sterilisation of dangerous breeds along with increased penalties for irresponsible owners and powers for local rangers. "Revisions to the Dog Act to deal more effectively with vicious dogs have been on the agenda of State Governments for years and it is time to do something about it, before another innocent person or family pet is seriously mauled or killed."

No we havent although our vet showed him to someone today. He will start obedience next week and he can stay with us till he finds the right home We have another little girl in as well, picked her up on Monday and she already has someone interested - go figure
