Decide now what you want puppy to do and not to do and stick to it, start out the way you want pup to be, what is cute while they are young may not be so cute in a year or so. I love crate training for our rescues, make sure the crate is large enough, start by feeding treats and letting pup spend time in there with door open, make it a good place. Our rescues are in their crate to sleep at night and for meals, the rest of the time the door is open and we will often find them asleep in there. It gives them space of their own, keeps them contained when you can't monitor them if they are bench surfers or like to chew all the wrong things. If any of our rescues need to spend time at the vets or are injured and need to be kept quiet, they can be crated which won't add extra stress to their situation. Poor kitten, so many changes in such a short time I wouldn't rehome a kitten or puppy at that age, I might advertise them but they wouldn't leave my care until about 10 weeks for either.

OMG that is horrible, I know some country pounds still shoot dogs but to do it at a public tip is disgraceful. Gotta hope the guy was a good clean shot, would hate to think of dogs still being alive and suffering after being thrown on the tip

I can't believe the owners got away with just a $550 fine If you know this for certain - Troy would probably like to know about this Rozzie, your previous post sent shivers down me as I read it, horrible for everyone concerned I hate the fact that these neighbours are not taking responsibility for the situation and are now risking others with their reaction, I truly hope this doesnt happen again

Probably best thing would be to find a rescue group and work with them - hopefully someone will come along with some suggestions for your area (I am in WA) Find a reputable rescue that will offer support and help for you through the whole process of fostering, they will want to do a property check to make sure you can keep the dogs safely. There are quite a few people here that foster so I am sure you will get lots of advice Good on you for offering to help you can never have enough foster carers

Well we have bought a single metal one shaped like a bone and have had "I am a foster dog" on one side and on the other our rescue group name and phone number We have also been sent a couple of links to some bulk dog tags that in the future we will look at purchasing as doing it one at a time is pretty pricey Thanks for all the responses - its interesting to read what others are doing

I have posted on his wall and he has responded there as well I have spoken to him by phone and he told he does international travel as well as domestic - his prices are good too

Well we have our first foster carer who this weekend is getting his first dog from us. I will be supplying collar and tag for the dog, collar is no problem but am not sure where to get tags from and what sort would be best I would like to buy several or a bulk lot so I dont have to rush around each time I foster out a dog. Also I am not sure how easy it will be to retrieve them once the dog is sold so will need to keep some on hand I have seen some rescues use the plastic key tags the old fashioned ones my mum and dad used to use but if they get wet, the water would ruin any writing inside and they look not so great too Curious to see what other people use and if anyone can recommend a supplier for them?

Do you know if they are renting? Might be worth having a chat to their landlord if they are

Could you try some recycling places or Freecycle online to find some fencing that you could put up? MIght not look pretty but be functional enough to keep their dog out Its horrible to feel like a prisoner in your own home (or your dog)
