Pele was asleep in the next room and came racing in when she heard the squeak I'm surprised your guys took so long to get into the box of i-squeaks

How Does This Happen - Do Councils Have Any Control?
Bully replied to slk's topic in General Dog Discussion
How ridiculous So you purchase the dog, the permit is refused and then you have to get rid of the dog. Stupid It would make much more sense to have to get the permit first before getting the extra dog -
Hi Robbi, Glad you are ok. Hope dear old Jess is OK too
-
Hi Kynan, We only got to do a very small one at the end. Pele soon twigged that there were treats under the socks She's such a piggy The Black dog are more expensive, but they look more comfortable and nicer

Check out this video clip . It shows how to train a response to the whistle :D

Keeping Mason on a long line at the park will NOT cause Mason to get attacked A short tight lead possibly would because you are altering his body language. Here's another good retraining the Recall article. To teach him off lead recalls there is no quick fix, it won't happen overnight, you need to go back to basics and build up as I mentioned previously.
-
I would not be letting your lab off lead if he doesn't have a reliable recall. In effect he is practising the bad behaviour. Keep him on a long line and go back to basics and teach him the recall from the beginning. Here are a couple of very good articles - Really Reliable Recall and The First Steps to Teaching a Reliable Recall

Yeah, I think she'll enjoy it Was tempted to hit the beach instead tho'

Pele had her first tracking lesson today. Where is the best place to buy a tracking harness on-line please I've come across these Callicoma Kelpies and Pet Supplies Black Dog wear Black Dog is much more expensive but their gear is excellent IMO

I absolutely hate the term "Designer Dog". I refer to them as Megabuck Mongrels or MM's because that's what they are
-
That's what I used to do with Jessie. The "Princess" wouldn't drink from a running tap :D Pele prefers a running tap. Most times she won't bother having a drink until we get home :D

Recomendations For Sa Obedience Schools?
Bully replied to ButerflyGirl's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi Vanessa, The club that you are thinking of is Para Districts Obedience Dog Club I have been thinking about joining it for competition obedience (CDX level) as well as the club that I'm with. Lots of people who trial are members of several clubs -

No problems in other places, altho' i haven't tried training in other places. She wasn't happy in our club's trial on Saturday night. Pele was perky before we went in the ring and I was thinking that was a good sign. As soon as we got to the start peg (our first trial in Open) she visibly deflated and was woeful. She kept looking in the direction of her crate Then yesterday she went into a trembling mess when I bought out the dumbbell. Then this afternoon I was going to play the 2 food game and she went into a trembling mess I'm just ignoring her at the moment because I don't want to reward the weird behaviour. Seems to be about training and not the dumbbell No problems chewing bones or playing tug

AAAAARRRRGGHHHH!!!! I went outside with a bag of chicken pieces to play the 2 food game. When I asked Pele to sit and threw the chicken she shot back inside trembling. I called her out and she wouldn't touch the chicken. It was as tho' I'd beaten her So don't think it's the dumbbell. I turned the hose on, her fave game and it took ages for her to come outside and then she seemed ok, until I turned the hose off and then she went all wussy again and shot back inside. I really don't know what's freaked her out. She was fine outside until she thought it was a training session
