  1. Bummer Pele and I will be at the Bull Terrier Club's Fun Day in Bonython Park from 11am. Would have loved Lappie cuddles.
  2. Pele is low thyroid and on Thyroxine. She was diagnosed just before her 2nd birthday. I suspected thyroid and asked the vet to blood test and sure enough that was the problem. Within about 2 weeks her energy levels and weight improved and probably about 6 weeks for her coat to improve :D Pele is on 1/2 tablet morning and night. The bottle of Thyroxine costs about $40 and lasts about 6 months. I have her T4 checked 6 monthly.
  3. Hypothyroidism is quite common in dogs and is easily treated. I agree with Erny about our testing here in Australia. Here's the link to Dr Jean Dodds http://www.hemopet.org/services.html#bookmark1 With the high Aussie $ at the moment it is quite affordable :D
  4. Great news!!!! For you and Charlie that is, not the poor rat Good boy Charlie Hope white rat turns up safely
  5. That was going to be my suggestion too. Hope it's not and is nothing serious
  6. Years ago when we were living at another house, the people on the corner 2 doors down owned a big fluffy white rabbit and a cat. They used to let the rabbit roam (idiots I know) :D One morning around 7am we heard a commotion outside our bedroom window. Neighbors cat had just killed their rabbit on our front lawn :D These people often had the police visiting, so we weren't about to go and tell them that their cat did it in case they blamed Jessie and tried to do something. They never came asking about it, so assume they didn't care Different scenario a few years later. I found a dead cat on our median strip. I door knocked and found the owner. They were grateful that we'd told them If my pet disappeared I'd like to know for closure, but it depends on the neighbors and the circumstances. Your pets and family come first and if there was any worry about revenge, then silence would be best. CW EW's neighbors appear to be on good terms. I think the bottle of wine idea is great :D Good luck CW EW
  7. How long are you staying for? I can catch up with you one day and bring Snik to cuddle. Leaving Monday the 13th. There for a wedding I'd love Snik cuddles! Would you like a Pele cuddle? We could have a Pele and Snik cuddle session
  8. Pele, the almost perfect is both :D Pele was once known as "Perilous Pele", which then became the "Ferilous Perilous" and then shortened to the "Feral Peril" or just "The Feral!!!" She was mayhem on 4 legs She's a good girl now and very civilized and well trained Now to get that CDX title
  9. When Jessie (Bull Terrier) was almost 5 months old back in 1993 I was taking her for a walk near my partners place and stumbled across Woodville Dog Obedience Club. We joined and slowly (well she was there for a good time and not to learn ) made it through the classes to the trialling class. Along the way I became instructor, trial secretary (what's a trial?) and treasurer and eventually awarded life membership. I took the dog for training and they "trained" me Jessie never got to trial. Those days were the old choke chain method of training and Jessie hated training and was bored by the time we got to the trialling class. Jessie loved agility, but in those days you needed a Prelim. pass in obedience to compete Pele is my second Bull Terrier and we are now trialling in Open
  10. Try a bit of vinegar in the squirt bottle.
  11. Great pics Pele fell asleep as soon as she got in the car. She's still asleep in the kitchen and hasn't come to join me on the couch Dreamin' of the BBQ that wasn't
  12. Pele is beautiful Bully Thanks huski Pele also won "Best Tricks" at the recent Dogs SA Open Day for the 2nd time :p She's a great ambassador for Bull Terriers
  13. I bought some years ago for my previous dog from a health food store :p
  14. Pele, my Bull Terrier is trialling in Open obedience :p We also do agility just for fun. I won't compete as 500mm is too high for her stocky body and the foot that she broke as a puppy
  15. Ouch!!! Hope you make it to the meet. What happened?
  16. Great story. Rufus is a fantastic ambassador for Bull Terriers
  17. Pele and I will most probably be there :p
  18. There's one that visits my local beach. The guy was amazed that I knew what it was and something about them He walks it for his daughter and never lets it off the lead either. Her name is Mia. I asked if it stood for "Missing In Action" :D He said no, but laughed and said how appropriate and he'd tell his daughter ;)
  19. I've got all 3 books, but if you are only going to buy one then GYDAB would be best. I bought a 2nd copy as my first one was getting very tatty from loaning out and was worried about it going AWOL. As mentioned check with your local library. Mine has all 3
  20. Sending more and healing thoughts your way for Chase
  21. Pele doesn't do mornings To get her out of bed I have to turn the hose on at the front and she comes charging out to "attack" it (she can't help herself ), then I quickly shut the front door :p The trail of biscuits from bed to front door stopped working long ago Smarter than the bully ;) :D
