I ordered mine a couple of days before you gila, and mine hasn't arrived yet. I got an email back from the supplier on 4/3/10 saying it will be posted asap. Better be here tomorrow!!!!

I use "go potty" too but if she is stuffing around add "go potty, quick" to finally get the required result.

Hi minpinmum I'm a newbie too and looking for answers to all the questions you just asked and more lol. I just brought home an 18 month old min pin x chi from Blacktown Pound. She is gorgeous but comes with her own problems, not cat tolerant - and I have two - not properly toilet trained and am looking to learn how to train for this too. Even after two days she is my little shadow and won't let me out of her sight without a performance so am thinking that a crate may well be the way to go. It will also be useful for travel and both my dogs, this one and my iggy, seem to somehow wriggle out of their car harness - haven't worked out how yet as they have only done it when my back is turned - typical little terrors I'm sure someone here can give you some good advice/info.... Would love to see pics of your puppy when you get her. Have you got a name in mind yet??

Thanks, I'll go check the compost bins out!

I've just brought my rescue dog home and have today been searching online for a crate (it turns out she isn't cat tolerant & I have two). So she's been on a lead most of the time to avoid having a go at the cats but I'm finding feeding time is the most difficult. Being only a day or so into her new environment, she won't let me out of her sight and if I put her outside or behind a closed door in the computer room she scratches at the door, whines or barks. And for a little dog, she sure does have a deep loud bark lol..... I've also been looking at pens but you seem to have the perfect solution JulesP. Can you please tell me where you obtained your set up and roughly how much it cost? PM me if you prefer..... Thanks

I saw some the other day, just had to remember where. Just did a search on a few site and I think I found it. Half way down the page, I'm not sure if this is what you're after. http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Pet-Sup...p;idCategory=31

Brilliant ad, the manufacturer obviously knows that an ad like this will sell their product even if it isn't a good one, most people wouldn't have a clue (not to long ago - b4 DOL I didn't either) and will buy just on the cuteness and rememberability? of this ad. Bloody cute doggies in it tho

Travelling With Your Dog - Safety Question
iggy mum replied to iggy mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I'll have to get a harness/seatbelt connector as well as a travel crate and try both to see what suits my iggy the best. Thanks everyone for all your input, very enlightening and helpful, as always :D -

Well, if the area is inflamed, it could't hurt, it just may give her a bit of relief, up to you. I generally have to cuddle Zoey for about 5-10 minutes after applying the cream to give it time to work before she licks it off lol. She just love the stuff, don't know why, but if I don't put the plastic tube out of reach, as soon as my back is turned she grabs it and tries to get the cream out, my tube is currently repaired with gladwrap to prevent it drying out These are just my thoughts as your problem sounds very much like mine, but other more knowledgeable people here may have better opinions on what it may be and the remedy. I am certainly NO expert in 'all (or any) things doggy.
-
Yeah tell me about it lol. I hope the problem is only what I mentioned earlier and nothing more. So, just keep your eye on it and if it gets to the point where the crusty bits look sort of like a scab and if the skin underneath and around the 'scab' becomes red, keep bathing it with a tepid soothing solution and cotton wool until the scab is removed and then get some "Ilium Neocort" cream to put on it if you can, its an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic skin cream and it works wonders. Heals in a couple of days. ETA: I have to do this fairly regularly as my Zoey has deep creases around her vulva and, like your pup, hairs that retain a bit of urine after weeing. She's used to it now and just lays there quietly until its done. She's such a good girl.

Oh well done spottychick, he seems to heading in the right direction now that you are loving and caring for him. I sure hope he continues to improve everyday. Lots of positive vibes heading Tango's way. ;)

Don't forget to let us know the outcome of your visit to the vet. Hope she is okay!!

Can't help you there, but good question. I've also been wondering if there may be a doggy playgroup (or just get together group) in Central Gippsland. Anybody know if there is?

I used to go to Raceview Veterinary Surgery, 67 Raceview Rd, Raceview. Ph 3288-6988 Hrs: M-F 8.30am-11.30am 3.00pm-6.00pm Saturday 8.30am-11.30am I now live in Victoria, but I used them up till four years ago and thought they were great. Can't be sure they are still there, but give them a ring if you like.

I got a reply back from initial enquiry in about two days. I emailed back with my payment details and address and got word from them late last night that it is being posted. Took 3 days after payment was made, & that would be the bank transfer taking the time, not the retailer. Cheers!

Very handy thing to know, thanks for the heads up!

I wonder if the 'crusty' bits in the crease around her vulva is dried urine. It can look a very dark colour when dried in the crease of her little twatty. My iggy gets that from time to time and I just either gently pick it off or, if that's too hard, then bathe the area in cold tea (or the like) to get it off. I then apply ilium cream twice a day till better. Hope this is all it may be and nothing more serious.

That is a great reason to use crates, didn't think of that one
