  1. My 33kg 8mth old is a pain at the off leash park as he is overly sociable and thinks all dogs are his friends, but I follow him around the park while he does his thing and I let him enjoy himself. If i think he is to heavy handed with a smaller dog i remove him and try to re-direct him to someone who is happy to wrestle with him and who he isnt going to squish.
  2. They can deem them pittbulls but the dog cant be destroyed unless it has undergone a breed assessment and then temp test If it is deemed a X breed (and fails temp tes) then the only person who can authorise to destroy the dog is a judge. That is in NSW though I would have a DNA test done and use that as evidence Unless you have the papers proving the dogs lineage then it makes no difference what is on a michrochip. You can have it as a Lab X monkey and if a ranger deems it a Pittbull then sadly they can force the breed assessment and temp assessment. At your expense I only know this as i went through it with a rescue dog i had rehomed and it was really scary The pound had chipped her as a Dane X - she got out and the council ranger that picked her up impounded her and then her owners had to have everything done to prove that because he said she was a pittbull that she wasnt
  3. Any good reputable rescue will know its dogs and would only rehome to an appropriate home. I dont think that getting from a rescue is a negative, just because they have come from a pound doesnt mean they arent fantastic dogs I'm more inclined to feel that the first time family are actually better off with a puppy than with a Rescue dog. It really depends on the dog of course and what it's background is. But a rescue can have some issues whereas the puppy is a clean slate. The important thing is they are willing to accept that the dog is their responsibility for life, that they take it to puppy school, keep it socalised and look after it accordingly. Of the three you listed I would say Golden Retriever, but there are many other breeds that fit the bill.
  4. depends if they are starting with a pup or older dog IMO If they have never had any dog experience I would encourage them to go through rescue and find one that meets their needs If they like Labs (who we all no are mad as puppies and juveniles) got through Lab rescue who probably have some nice older Labs I always think Rotties are a great family dog, but that is me
  5. I am more scared of a snarly yappy snappy Chi then a PB at least i can see a PB coming I worked in a kennel facility for 2yrs and never once had an issue with any of the bully breed dogs there i have been bitten by a BC and a Dane and snapped up by a few littlies included an English Foxy (mind u i put myself and dogs in stupid position, so my own fault)
  6. all we know is that they are now registered to him in victoria she has signed nothing, but apparently as they werent registered in sydney only chipped he can do that? Definitely not true. If the dog is chipped to her then it's her dog. Doesn't matter if she's registered it or not The reason he has been able to do this is that in NSW we have our own register that no other states use. He would have put the chip up on the register used in VIC. Does she have her microchip paperwork still? This can be used as proof that she owned the dog originally. If not get her to call a Council in NSW and she will be able to get a copy sent out to her. He took everything. all he gave her as threw her clothes on the front lawn she has nothing accept her dads best friend is a sydney vet and he is the vet that chipped the dogs and they have copies of the michrochip pwork which they have faxed her she went to her council with them and spoke to the ranger and he really didnt seem interested in helping her

    Rottweiler

I am trying to help a dog park friend with finding a new Rottweiler Story is Currently has Jackson a beautiful Labrador (all vet work done) He also has had storm a very big beautiful Male Rottie who has had for 6mths He was doing part time security work (without a dog) but Storm belonged to the company and for some reason just didnt cut it as a guard dog. So he took him home and now the owner wants storm back (failed company so is selling him for $5000) The family are gutted - Storm sleeps in the bedroom with his current ppl and the other dog Jackson. He goes to the dog park daily and is just a big huggy bear. They have thought about going to small claims court and fighting for the right to keep Storm, but they worry about the problems in may cause with the guy who legally owns him So, Storm will be picked up today and probably sold off to another company for guard training They would really love a Rottweiler of their own. They are Western Sydney based and not after showing or breeding and the dog would be desexed. Does anyone have or know of any Young rotties that are in need of a good home?
  10. I would jump the fence also and get the dog. Worse case scenario, Take it to the pound (especially if it is chipped) and put ur name down to save it or rescue it.
  11. i know this is a totally different country my friends in dubai. their dogs left the same day as their mum but arrived at a different time (they were checked and watered and fed half way etc) when they landed the transport ppl picked the dogs up and dropped them off at their doorstep i would think that something similar would be available in China - especially shanghai good luck with the plans i found this. Some of it sounds scary, but probably informative http://www.entershanghai.info/expat-lifestyle/living-pets.php
  12. He works there and has 84 dogs? Regardless if he is a registered breeder or BYB or puppy farmer He must have some good $$$ to pay for ppl to clean feed, socialise the dogs etc Because looking after that many dogs doing basic care would take an 8hr day (and yes i can speak from experience after working in a facility for 2yrs) Maybe he does. So what? Who said the way I or anyone else might run 20 odd or 60 odd ++ dogs operates anywhere near the same way as the facility that you worked for? I would be more then interested to see anyone who has that many dogs and how they operate. Why does he need to have so many dogs? If he wasnt a registered breeder he would be classed as a puppy farmer and nobody wants puppy farms. To a degree I dont see the difference sometimes both putting a huge amount of undesexed dogs into the community I would question the ethics or intentions of anyone who has that many dogs They may have day yards that they are in all day and trainers and heaps of interacation with humans and other dogs, but I choose to be skeptical

Still not enough IMO to care for them how they should be with training & enrichment and playtime etc. Just how I feel about dogs being kennelled. I am not a fan of it at the best of times.
  14. with so many ppl being backyard breeders wouldnt u be worried about having a litter and then those ppl who adopt pups use them as a breeding dogs and possibly in fighting circles etc? That is a legit question and concern Just interested to know. As for me it would be something i would worry about.

  17. I just got a calicoma kelpies one also $10 for collar and $5 postage
  18. He was fitted last night at training and had the RSPCA Halti on but they are $40 and out of the price range
  19. i had a kelpie x puppy with a grade 4 sadly due to other issues she was PTS a few months ago but he heart did great. If she didnt have her other many issues she would still be going strong. she would run around at the park like a lunatic etc. We had her for over 3yrs
  20. I have a friend and she is going to dubbo for a few days they have a boxer x cattle dog and he is about 18mths old Very very dog friendly and has a bit of energy. She is after someone to possibly care for him for 3 days while she goes away. They live in Colyton - Western Sydney And yes they will pay a daily fee for him
  21. I have heard lots of horror stories of flying pets internally within the USA
  22. for me, if they are desexed before they go to new homes then it isnt an issue we need to have tighter laws that are more closely monitored
  23. It has been just over 3mths since we said goodbye time moves quickly but our missing your doesnt We think of you fondly and daddy likes to watch little video clips of you, but i dont like to.
