  1. Helen from AWL has been working with BCC for a long time now and it is due to ppl like her that even the beds have improved at Blacktown Pound I agree that all dogs should be desexed before being rehomed, but remember Blacktown isn't the only pound in Sydney that doesn't desex dogs. I don't like or agree with the tender system. I think the price of adoptions should rise to cover vacc, chip & desex They do have dog walkers now at Blacktown so that is a positive for the dogs. The conditions there are better then what they used to be.
  2. I thought you only had to wait 24hrs but I am not 100%
  3. I am not even gonna comment as there are no words to describe vile beings
  4. I looked at the site lol they charge by the kg - it is times like this i wish I owned rat dogs
  5. I hear ya, finding someone to do it as a labour of love would be just to much to ask lol Do pooh aint that bad
  6. I will google it as I don't think I have seen them
  7. At the moment I am going through alot of tests etc for a major back injury that may require surgery. So it is hard to do alot of the normal everyday tasks at home. I have 4 x large dogs to pick up after. It is an ok job to see if one of the local teenagers would like a job picking up the pooh? and how much would u pay them?
  8. Could a Greyhound dockdive? There is one I know in care and he loves water and I reckon he would thrive on it. I can't wait for it to be moved to western sydney. My fat Labrador loves water and balls. He is a bit chunky. Well, alot chunky and I thought it would be great for him to get into He has dived off the jetty at Penrith lakes

    Greyhound

We aren't going into this lightly and are really accessing the situation for him. I know they would love him and treat him very very well. I just want to make sure that He wont/can't get out of the fron't yard (he is 2.5 and never attempted to jump) Do I believe they will have him out the fron't supervised? Yes I do Big decision to make for the lad

    Greyhound

I have jumped from Rescue to this part of the breed section I need some information on Greyhounds We have a Greyhound who has been in long term care for about 18mths. Alot of that time has been in a shelter envioronment. He is sociable, loving, goofy etc. Toilet trained and just a delight. We have the opportunity for a home for him, but would like the opinion of people who know this breed. They ppl don't have much of a backyard. What they have is paved. Maybe say about 10m x 5m With a pergola. The do however have a fron't yard that is about 800m square. So heaps of running space. The issue is they wont leave him in the fron't yard unsupervised as they only have a picket fence. This is understandable. The grandparents and mum are home during the day time, so he would get supervised playtime out the fron't Would you consider this as ok for a Greyhound? They are lovely people and their children are delightful. Very nice family, but we need to do what is best for the dog. Is the home their are offering any better then his current environment? They would like to kennel him at night, but I would like to convince them that his bed under the pergola is fine. They also aren't against him being inside with them. I just have to cat test him. Any thoughts or information on what Greyhounds daily requirements are would be appreciated
  11. Thanks for that Ros. It would probably be good for him. He just is so clever and wants to constantly be stimulated and work. So maybe he is a pretend husky. Accept Avery has never tried to escape or jump fences
  12. No issues with other dogs at all. Walks well on a lead. He can sit. He fetches and loves tug toys. He also enjoys the water. He is desexed, vaccinated, chipped Avery was tested for the RAAF, but too soft He has a fantastic change of speed and change of direction. He plays with a very dominant female Shepherd and he out wit, out smarts and out plays her on a daily basis
  13. He came into the shelter from the pound at 12wks of age He was rehomed but came back a few months later for digging a hole. That is it. Nothing more. Just a gorgeous dog. Waiting for a home. I think he is a special boy.
  14. I have no problem with him going interstate, but I don't own him. I just do the re-homes. I could ask again though.
  15. This is Avery He is a 12-15mth old Malinios Shepherd waiting adoption I have no reason why this boy is taking so long to find his home He is dog friendly and would ideal for dog sports Avery is very fast and very smart. Can outwit any dog at the boarding kennels he currently resides in. Avery is lean and quite sleek and about lab height. He really is a delightful boy. So if anyone in the dog sport world is after a new companion. Then Avery could be your man.
  16. I thought the only place in St Marys was The Guard Dog Training Centre and you don't want my opinion on them, as it isn't very nice. There is no way on the good Lord's green earth I would ever send a dog to them.
  17. Cuz I'm tired and just skimming, I haven't read everything. So my fault if I get slapped for this, but can someone explain why there is different tests for different breeds? Shouldn't a temp test, be just that? Regardless of breed?
  18. LL can offer a great home to the dog. She has always had some kind of bully breed dog I take my hat off to her for wanting to take him in and work with him and have him as part of her family.
  19. Aren't beagles natural hoovers? I'm sure it will do fine hehehehehe
  20. Maybe just a guzzler. Been watching it's mother
  21. RIP Sage girl I know how much your mum loves and misses you.
  22. Remember her last vet visit was when she was desexed and it all got infected. So maybe she remembers
