WOW.. What a predicamint your in... Your SIL needs to be shot... So does the APBT owner. I would suggest that some one secretly drop all the legal requirement brochures into the APBT letter box so they know what they have to do... The local council needs to be notified aswell. The breeder your SIL dog should be told. Im sure they would want to know... If all else fails, kidnap your SIL dog, pretend he has run away and get him desexed them WHALAH he found his way home ball less..... Hope it all works out for the best :D

My Dane girl 67.8 kilo gets spoilt. I give her 1.3kilos of raw meat, 2 cups of eukanuba bickies, either a Chicken carcas/ lamb shank/ Beef bone of some sort and lots of vegies every day, plus sardines, eggs occasionaly .. The Main expense is the Meat..It works out about to be about $60 a week plus all the other food. It the vet bills that are the killer... Bigger dogs mean more drugs etc... Saying all that, Big dogs are the best cause there is more to love and more to cuddle..

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Aubrey, Happy Birthday to you.. Hip Hip Hooray :D

you know what, if she is scared then so be it... You cant tell me that when you punish your dog in which ever way (smacks, raised voice, low voice) that the dog doesnt react in some way.. If the dogs puts its tail in between its legs, drops to the ground sooks, then guess what the dog is scared of you aswell so it puts you in the same boat... DOL is about supporting and giving advise. I only posted what my dogs do in the same situation to contribute to the thread.. If I was having problems then I would have started my own thread. Now I really dont want to discuss this further, we have too far gone of topic. If you want to PM that is fine but ive said what I want and you have aswell so please just drop it!

Ok i get it... im a sucky puppy mummy... I give up. The typical DOL pact mentality has come out again... How about we try and focus on the original question....

Could of fooled me :D I dont think it funny that shes scared of me cause I know that she ISNT scared of me.... Obviously she respects me as I am the Alpha but definatly not scared. She does the oppposite to what the GSD in the original post does.. She sulks up ears flat and waits.... How is that not a dog being scared of the owner/ stiuation... Laying to the floor is a submissive thing and any dog that puts their ears flat is showing signs of being scared.... I was just saying that my dane does the opposite and runs away and if you get close she drops her bum... Animal cruelty is not a thing to be laughed at and I would hate to think my girls are scared, but I know they arent. And unless you have seen my dane in action you cant coment that she is scared of me...

Forget I said anything... i dont come on here to be attacked.... What is good for your breed or dog may not be good for me and my dog. Everyone does things differently. If you knew my dogs temprement you would think her attitude and body language is funny aswell. I would never hurt any animal deliberatly. My dogs are soo loved and spoilt...I shouldnt have to defend myself on here. We are all dog lovers and thats all that should matter Sorry I said anything....

Im new to DOL so just wondering what this means?????

Lighten up..... The dog doesnt get hurt...If she was scared then she wouldnt come back to me.. Her tail is non stop wagging and SHE doesnt drop to the floor only her bum so you cant reach it.. she is more scared of the words "WHO DID THIS" I understand this is an open forum and people can say what they want. But you dont know my dog or her attitude or her behavour so you cant judge.
-
My GSD does exactly the same thing.. It kinda makes me feel bad for yelling at her She know when she has done wrong thou. My Dane on the other hand, as soon as she senses somethings up there is NO way she will come anywhere near you. If you can get close enough to smack her bum (ill probably get negative comments for smaking) she drops it to the ground and keeps running.... Funniest thing to watch

I hope so but I doubt it... He is due on Tue . Its hard. I want that guy to take him so he gets saved but I dont want some one irresponsible to have him either... The last thing we need is another BYB. Fingers crossed

I have a13month GSD. Last night I was playing with her mouth (so she doesnt freak out when people touch her) and i noticed on her big tooth (K9 i think it is called) up the top it looks like it had decay on it. I was very suprised by this as no other teeth had it on it. I look and felt closer and it feels like the tooth in deterioating from the top down. It is only a small amount but I am still concerend. She is due to go to the vet in 5 weeks for vaccination. Should I wait till then or take her in earlier. She gets feed amostly meat diet with eukanuba bickies and either a lamb shank/chicken carcass/ beef bone everday. Her Great Dane Sister get the same diet and she doesnt have any decay either... Any advise would be great

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soo soo angry I work for a Local Government and I assist the Local Rangers with the pound paper work and unfortunatly organise the destruction of unwanted dog... I just had a guy call up wanting to know if we had any dogs in the pound. I was thinking great we can save another unwanted dog. I explained the breed (obviously only a guess) but we assume a TERRIOR X something, dogs rough age, temprement, location where it was found and all the usual things.. The guy then asked is it sterilised. I told him the rangers hadnt noted it in the register but I would find out and let him know... Then thats were the conversaion took a nose dive................. He advised me that he had recently adopted a Red Cloud Kelpie from us approx 3 months ago and that she was VERY active (seriously what did he expect from a working dog) he then said he wanted an UN STERILISED dog to give his kelpie a litter to hopefully settle her down......... I immediatley said UMMM NOT a good idea... Seriosly are people that DUMB..... A red cloud Kelpie x terrior?????????????? I tried to explain that even if it did settle her down (which i doubt it would ) what about all the puppies, expenses and all the rest of it. I tried to convince him that maybe company and extra stimulation would work but not to breed for the sake of it... I am SOO angry, I just had to vent. I know the BYB subject has been brought up a million of time but this was the last straw for me...

This happened to my Girl too and I just thought WTF!!!! Luckily over time the wound healed and now you cant even see the scar..

My friend has a white standard poodle (well 5 actually ) that she shows. She puts plastic sleeves on the feet when they go out to pee... Its mainly the boys that are the problem. They are basically like a sock that is open on both ends with elastic on each end to stop them falling of. They are made out of that thin Vinyl material.. Sorry no other ideas for the tummy other then shaving/trimming it Dont know if this is an option

Yes I also have a pool, We started her in the pool and she just wasnt having fun so thats when we started at the beach. Mailnly just to get her confidence up in the water, it can be a weird thing for a dog that isnt use to it.. It took us a fair while to convince her. We then took her back into the pool and SLOWLY gained her confidence, one step at a time literally...We would convince her to sit on the 1st step and praise her like mad for doing it then when she was comfy worked to the next step, then when she was ready she jumped into the shallow end and swum straight for us... She was fine aslong as she had contact with her... This in its self is very hard with a 70kilo dane Now you cant keep her out of the water, she LOVES it.... The reversal has happened now and she wont stop barking and sooking until we let her in the pool area if we are having a swim.. Some dogs just DONT like water and your not going to change them. My Brothers m & m runs a mile when his water bowl gets filled Just tell you BF to be paitent with him and dont rush things I was wwondering about this aswell.... My girls would go crazy if they didnt get out at least 4 times a week.. Maybe you could make it a family outing and make sure you take it in turns of holding each dogs lead to maybe sort out any dominance things Scooby has with you while you are with your BF.. It sounds like he is trying to prove that he is better then you when you BF is around.... Sorry but your BF needs to pull his head in abit... Why was the dog given to him? Was it a rescue effort? Did you BF WANT the dog? Do you 2 permantley live together or just have sleep overs? Sorry for the million questions. Just trying to get the full picture.
-
DEFINATLEY NOT.... Dont force the dog to do anything that it does feel comforatble about doing.. I had the same problem with my Great Dane.. She was so scared to get in the water and it would drive her crazy cause she couldnt get to us (hence all the barking). Let Scooby set the pace with it. Try and make it fun for him and make him WANT to get in the water..I have found that my girls were ALOT more scared of the Pool then the Beach as they cant guage the depth etc. Have you tried him at the beach. Obviousley not one with huge waves, possible a dam or something along those line... The key is to take it slow.. I hope everyone agrees with me.

Sorry to go off topic but I find this sentence absolutly HILARIOUS.... Im married and my OH and I still always use the words YOUR dog and MY dog. We got our kids 5 days apart while we were living together so technically they are both of OUR dogs.... Its funny thou cause when ever they are being naughty they are eith HIS dog or MY dog... Never OURS Its always YOUR dog is doing that, MY dog never would do that, YOUR dog is the trouble maker... hehe... Sorry By the way I agree that your BF needs to set boundaries. You will prob find that both dogs flourish with them, aswell as make you life easier.
