  1. I had a bitch that wouldnt mate with a dog that she "lived" with. Only an outsider! :p
  2. I progesterone tested at day 5 to get an indicator and she was ovulating. i would be doing it sooner rather than later, you would hate to miss it. Good luck though, it is a very stressful business!!!!!
  3. I agree and they usually let you take your dog that you have with you so you can see what dog it takes to and what one it doesnt. Just make sure you tell them your coming and make sure it is ok to take your BC with you.
  4. Ned as in Ned Kelly. He definately caused a stir, but wasnt really all that bad, but very tough. He is soooooooooooooooooooo cute
  5. Thanks guys, I guess I just needed the reassurance, long time since I have done this!
  6. Hi all, It has been quite some time since I have had a young stud dog and well, I kind of forgot what I did with my other one. Do you help your virgins? or do you just let nature take its course? Many thanks Oakeydoak
  7. Thanks guys for your replies, will let her know
  8. A breeder friend of mine has been asked to look after some of the pups she has bred over Christmas when they go on holidays to which she has happily agreed. She lives on a farm and so she is worried about liability of snake bites, injury etc. Just wondering if anyone has a contract or similar that I could show her so she can get an idea of what to put in it. Also she is unsure as to what she should charge, any ideas of prices would also be fantastic. Any help would be greatly appreciated to give a base to start from.
  9. Steve - your inbox is full. Could you tell me how many I ordered and postage cost for htem to 2795. Thanks oakeydoak
  10. Just "bumping" this page as it took me forever to find it.
  11. Sorry to hear of all the losses this breeding business is so god damn hard isnt it??!! Maggie-Mae - Raven looks very proud of her babies. Great photo. Weisnjac - well done with your babies so exciting Talisker - hope your girls milk has come in by now. More photos please!!
  12. Oh Maggie-May how sad for you and your gorgeous girl. Hope the babies thrive. Just out of interest will the milk stop now she is desexed? Hope things go smoothly for you now
  13. What about photos of the sables too! Only cause I want to see more puppy gorgeousness. I think Thor is a stunner.
  14. Think you may have to take me off your list All tightness has gone, boobs have not grown, her belly seems to have gone down. Doesnt look good at all. I gather she most probably has reabsorbed or maybe had a phantom. This has happened twice now. Thinking some testing will now need to be done.
  15. Hi Jules - I would rest her, if I didnt see an improvement in 24 hours I would take her to the vet - but if you wanted to do the clinic I would take her to the vet and get the all clear.
  16. Thanks Parkeyre - had another look at her yesterday and yep she has popped (4 1/2 weeks). If she is not pregnant I will eat my hat!!!!! That makes us due with Border Collies on the 26th.
  17. I would love to join and IF we are pregnant we are due 26th August. I was going to get ultrasounded but after last times disappointment I thought I would let nature take its course. I dont want to get my hopes up. Just out of interest. I know a couple of you said your bitches are fat already but what are YOUR first signs of pregnancy. My first bitch when she was pregnant you wouldnt have known until the day before she had the pups. This one I dont think has any signs either but just wondering what you all see.
  18. Wow you will have a ball Shell and so will Zero, I hope once we get up and running here we will be able to do something similar to get others involved, so far there is only one other Delta Dog in our town (DOLer Mawson) and we have just got our first facility which is the kids ward at the hospital, which will be great!! When do you do your first visit to a facility? It will be interesting to see how Zero goes with the lifts etc, can't wait to see your photos. When Cooper was younger I was such a protective puppy mum, I took him to Southern Cross station one day and had to up the huge escalator and I was petrified he wouldn't go on his own so I carried him and there were two girls whispering on the other side on the way down and when they got closer they asked me if he was real or if he was a big doggy teddy. i guess it would be an easy mistake to make when he looked like this My mum had this pic on her fridge and my Step sis also thought he was a Teddy!! Delta dogs can visit hospitals and nursing homes etc, have a read about it here http://www.deltasocietyaustralia.com.au/pet_partners.htm TLC - thanks for this information. This is something I have always been interested in, but never knew where to start!!! Will be watching your progress with great interest.
  19. Ash - it is very normal for a lamb to have the runs for quite some time. Be wary lambs can go down hill very quickly, they can be fine one minute and not the next. One thing to learn (and I know it is hard) you cant save them all. I wanted to bring all our orphan lambs home but soon learnt that I couldnt. Good luck ETA - make sure you have some parafin oil on hand as their biggest problem with being hand raised is getting a blockage in their gut.
  20. Hehehe, I got some new blankets for mine. Gave them to the dogs on the night when it was going to be -5 here - all of them bar the old girl had kicked them out by morning!!
  21. Weeeeelll - I love my BC's and would never be without them, but I have always wanted a Saint Bernard, ever since I was a teenager I wanted one. I saved up for one but ended up buying a horse instead!! Still would love one but just not practical now.
  22. That's fantastic news. Well done Charlie!!!
  23. We used a teaser dog first time (different bitch) and it worked. Second time, different bitch - didnt work. So this time we will do the testing. First test is tomorrow (day 5) and will see how we go from there depending on the reading.
  24. Hi Bob, actually no we didnt get her tested last time. It was my own fault. We had a "teaser dog" which she was ready to accept so we thought she would be right. Obviously not. If our dog was local, I probably wouldnt bother, just keep taking her back, but unfortunately he is not so we cant!!!
