  1. Lucy is getting so fat and is all belly. At 10 days to go I am getting worried, I tried to get a belly shot but she didnt really want to cooperate!!
  2. And looks like you will have your hands full!!!
  3. Sorry to those who got a negative test I know how heartbreaking that is.
  4. HOw fantastic. Thats great. Love it
  5. Just thought I would let you all know that she has decided she likes Iams Kitten dry food and tinned RED salmon (doesnt like the pink one). At least I can get her to eat something!!!
  6. Ok I am going to finally add myself. I have been holding off because I didnt want to jinx it, however if my girl is not pregnant then she has a very large something growing in her belly! Border Collie puppies due 6 June. Like others this is a long awaited litter and I am so nervous I think I have forgotten what to do!!!
  7. Thanks all. Will stop worrying and let nature take its course.
  8. Yes she has always been like this, not just since she was mated. She wont eat yoghurt, tinned food, sardines etc. She will occasionally eat tinned cat food but pretty much leaves it there if you fed it to her everyday for a week, she may eat it twice. I have tried confining her but it doesnt make a difference, I think she gets more stressed about being confined! I have always been of the opinion she will eat if she is hungry, was just a little more concerned because she is pregnant and thought I would get some other opinions. Thanks for your advice! I will stop worrying about it for now.
  9. Hi All I have a BC bitch who is very fussy with food. She survives on the smell of food and is very very active. I have tried everything i can think of to get her to eat but to no avail. She is now 5 weeks pregnant and I was hoping she would have an increased appetite but so far no change. She survives on one chicken carcass a day and she will only eat the whole thing if she is really starving. I have tried: Chicken mince raw, chicken mince cooked, chicken mince with rice and with stock. Cooked sausages, raw sausages, cooked steak, raw steak, tinned food, dry food. She will eat a fresh leg of lamb when we have one available but over a couple of days. I am just getting worried that she will not be consuming enough to keep herself and her puppies healthy. Is there anything I can give her to help boost her appetite or supplement her to give her the extra she needs for hte puppies. I am all out of ideas so any advice would be appreciated.
  10. Well said Mystiqview. There is only so much that you can take if they dont get the picture, then I would block them.
  11. Thats a fantastic story Sue. Cant say mine are so fussy, however this time around, my bitch only wanted to be mated in her yard, not the back yard or the front yard, just her own yard. Maybe she likes her creature comforts around her!!
  12. Thanks all. She wouldnt let him on today, so I think they are done. Fingers crossed for puppies in 9 weeks time.
  13. Hi All Just wondering if you limit how many times you let your bitch and dog mate or do you just let them keep going until your bitch wont accept him anymore? I usually only do it twice, but as my bitch was still bleeding quite a bit when she first let the dog mate I let them go two more times. Interested in your points of view
  14. My younger bitch would always come into season when my older bitch did, however she would never have a true cycle. She would "rush" through her cycle to catch up to the head bitch. She was a bitch though that wanted to be the head bitch. I ended up desexing my older bitch as I was no longer breeding from her and my younger bitch had her first "full" cycle after that.
  15. My vet has always said to wait 2 weeks after the last vaccination just to be sure
  16. Even try giving it a bath to get the vet smell off it. And then rub it with some towelling that the pups/mum is lying on.
  17. Rysup - sounds like they dont have a leg to stand on. Funny they should bring it up again after 3 years. Just ignore it. It will probably go away. THey probably dont have anything better to do with their lives.
  18. I dont think I would find a place that would take 5 border collies!!!!! Actually I am going away in March and usually my mum comes and house/dog/cat/sheep/horse sits but she is coming with us, so need to try and find someone to come and stay and look after them all!!!
  19. Thanks all for your responses. I will pass them on. I am not sure when she was vaccinated, I know she keeps them up to date but not sure when she was done. So many wonderful people on here with words of wisdom and advice.
  20. BB - apparently it was like they werent completely formed if that makes sense. Their heads werent quite normal and they just didnt look like they were completed.
  21. Hi all A friend of mine just had a litter of 4 cavalier puppies. The bitch never went into "nesting" and really didnt have a labour before she spat out first puppy. She then didnt show any other signs so took her to the vet, emergency caesar and 3 dead puppies that were deformed, vet wasnt very helpful and just said "It can happen" told her she might need a new vet. I thought I read somewhere that sometimes puppies can be deformed from a deficency in something in the bitch and for the life of me I cant find the link. Any suggestions?
