Congrats on your anniversary BF - I have been meaning to pop in and ask how you went with your rings? Are you still having a problem?

The breeders where I got my BC puppies from both said they fed fish oil (human ones) - I tried to put it on their meal and they wouldnt eat it!!! They also fed them garlic - but same thing wouldnt eat it. Dont feed it to them whole as they could choke. Cut it and squeeze it on to their food

Christina - you made me remember when we were in Brisbane trying to find the right place - drove around 4 times before we found it. Then when we got to Sydney - it was even worse and they pointed us in the wrong direction! Took us an hour to find it and I was so frantic. Definately all the airports need better signage.

Newsfie - I bred little Cleo - what a small world. Needless to say though, not using those bloodlines again - cant believe she turned out so white. Emma is one of my best friends and was my bridesmaid at my wedding. Photos were great! How fantastic

They were Border Collie pups - 5kg at hte time. Would it depend on who it is booked with? I flew Virgin.

I havent flow to or from Adelaide but I know at both Sydney and Brisbane you have to drop them off somewhere else, I would say it would be the same in Adelaide but I could be wrong.

Also one persons pick may not be anothers. I just recently got a new BC and he was the last of the litter but after looking at the other and what I am after, I think he was the pick.

Sending healing vibes to Max and Zac and hope they make a full speedy recovery. Just thought I would share. I was on holidays at Jervis Bay on the weekend. Down on the beach there was a husband and wife walking their GSD on a leash and there was a guy walking two standard poodles and a Kelpie x? on coming the other direction. The three dogs attacked the GSD and it took all of the ladies and mans strength to seperate them. The owner of the 3 dogs just kept walking didnt call them/try and separate them just kept walking. Luckily they managed to get them off quite quickly and no damage to GSD but you can imagine my horror when the dogs came running in my two little girls direction!!! I was quick to them and said to the guy that he should be controlling his dogs and he just ignored me and kept walking!!! Disaster waiting to happen.

Thanks for all your responses. There is some great reading material there. Before reading this tonight I gave her her dinner and I stayed with her and just praised her and comforted her whilst she was eating. She didnt once growl - didnt even look in the direction of my other dog and didnt run around her yard making sure the cows didnt eat her food. However I will read all the material and will definately adjust her training accordingly, I dont want this going any further.

Hi All My 16 week BC has started growling over her food. She has it in her yard by herself. There is a dog in the yard next to who she growls at when I put the food down and then she runs around the yard as if to warn off everyone else (maybe she is warning hte cows next door!!) I am gathering she may have got the habit from when she was a baby as she was from a large litter and probably had to fight for her food a bit she did it a little when she was younger and a firm NO would be enough to stop her. She then stopped doing it for a little while, however over the last couple of weeks she has started doing it again and is worse. Has anyone got suggestions on how to break this bad habit? Thanks

Bluefairy - I hope it works for you and it is the chicken. Just make sure that it is completely gone before you put your rings back on. Let me know how you go. All your puppys are gorgeous.

BF - just a suggestion. Do you feed your dog chicken? and do you use bare hands? I have NEVER had a problem with my rings until recently and I got such bad eczema my fingers swelled etc etc. I tried to think what i did when they went like that and i had been dividing chicken mince up. So i left my rings off for about a month and use my eczema cream but most importantly I got my rings cleaned! Because after it cleared up the first time I put them back on and it happened again. Realised there must have been something on there that was agitating my skin. So after getting rid of the infection and cleaning my rings i can now happily say I have had them back on for 2 months with no problems. now everytime i handle ANY sort of chicken I use gloves. makes you think though, what would be in that chicken to cause such a reaction on me!

Thank you everyone for your replies. You have answered my question. I do run my dogs as a "pack" during the day. They all get out together. It is just at night when they go to bed that they are in separate yards. So it is easy to separate them when bitch is in season. My reason for asking was that I was told by several different dog people that when I got another male all the dynamics will change and I should stop running all my dogs together during the day and in fact some even told me that I should not have the males and females on the same property!! Even though I have had dogs for many years I guess I just started to question my own self. Thanks again

OK so i know ultimately the best option is to not have entire males and females running together, however sometimes that is not possible. I was wondering what people do to minimise the aggression, particularly between males but also females. All my dogs have their own "yards". The yards however are all next to one another. I have all the girls next to one another on one side and I have one male nearby, I am picking up a new male next week who is a pup which i am hoping will grow up into a great stud dog. He will be placed next to the other male opposite the girls. Generally the dogs let out to have a run together during the day, but should I be segregating the girls from the boys? My male who IS NOT a stud dog is an entire but he is a FANTASTIC working dog and we have had working dogs that we have desexed before that have turned into duds so not overly keen on doing this. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to minimise the aggression side of things?

Snofyre - My BC bitch brought in a mob of 200 sheep the day she was due. Had the puppies about 8 hours later!! Did look funny though cause she was so fat!! JJ - Your babies look gorgeous
