So what if the so called fluffball, which mini schnauzers are not, did yap, this is no reason for such a horrific attack, and where was the ever so responsible owner? What if the victim happened to be a child, and not a dog? I know, some will say dog aggressive dogs are not necessarily human aggressive that's not the point. I hope they find the dimwit who owns this killer and that they both get their just deserves. I'd like to know how you would feel if it was you and your family in this situation.

I'm afraid my dogs will not be given vitamin water. You can call me a bad owner, but that's how it stands lol. They get their meat bought from MY butcher and a few supplements and fresh water out of my filtered kitchen tap. They don't look unwell or uncared for, so I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and spend the extra on what I save not buying vitamin water on other hdealthy doggy indulgences.

We can't blame the kids. It's all up to the parents to teach the kids the right and the wrong way to interact and approach any dogs. Unfortunately, in most cases, the parents know no better. My grandchildren have been taught to firstly ask the owner of dogs if they are allowed to pat and if given permission they also know to place their hands to let the dog sniff them first. My grandchildren are 8 down to 3 years old and have all been taught to respect animals.

I space it out to 6 weeks under the instructions of my vet. The manufacturer is there to sell the product so naturally they will say it's needed 4 weekly rather than 6 weekly. As for the worming and flea treatment I myself prefer to do it all in one hit. Of course, everyone does what suits and that's OK too.

Why do you think it's overkill? I use Sentinal but give it 6 weekly and this means that I don't have to use an intenstinal worm killer and flea treatment on top of the heartworm.

There have been almost no decent studies on it. I feed offal, but I don't believe it is necessary at all. I feed offal twice a week included in the raw diet. It seems that it is a necessary part of the raw diet.

I would, and I have had a dog with his eye taken out. He was being treated by a specialist for ulcers and thousands of dollars were spent and in the end, his eye ruptured too. On the day that it happened, he was clearly in a lot of pain and and on the evening he came home after having the eye removed, he was an entirely different dog. He learned to get around, even after his failing eyesight in his remaining eye.

That's exactly the reason I won't feed a commercial diet. I want to know what my dogs are ingesting. My head tells me that dogs are born to eat raw and natural foods. I know there are many out there that will disagree with me, and those of you who do, you're perfectly entitled. Given the choice of commercial or raw, my boys will always go for the raw first and foremost. I say this because on occasions I pet sit my cousin's schnauzer and his dry food is sent over with him. I have been given the option by his owners to feed him like I do my own and he and my two will avoid the commercial and hoe straight into the raw. Must be something to it. My visitor invariably goes back with almost the same amount of dry food he came with. My two go and sniff and turn away.

I had the same problem with my mini schnauzer puppy who is now 10m months old. He also ate his own poo and I tried the pineapple and also meat tenderiser and these didn't help. I was also diligent with the picking up and there were times he would even bring it into the house to enjoy. I'm very happy to say that he did grow out of the disgusting habit, so maybe the pup in question will also.

With a raw diet, the quantity certainly doesn't seem enough but the difference with the raw fed dogs is that their body absorbs all the nutrition, therefore you would have noticed that the poos are much smaller than with commercial pet food. The raw diet also allows for slower growth and if she doesn't look skinny and you can just feel ribs when you touch her lightly, then I wouldn't be concerned.

Yes, I forgot to mention that my boys also get chicken feet which apparently have lots of glucosomine. They get these as a treat and they love them. It's so funny to watch them each of them take a foot out into the back yard with half of it sticking out of their mouths. I feed them frozen and they much them over about a 5 minute period.

As I said. I give the necks, chicken frames and I also buy baby veal ribs and cut off a part of the meat and feed that as the meat part of their diet. The easily manage the baby ribs. If she is not a gulper, then the necks should be fine. I feed recreational bones, (ones that cannot be eaten only chewed) more as a treat rather than a part of their food intake.

I have stopped feeding chicken wings to my mini schnauzers because of the fat content because mini schnauzers are very prone to pancreatitus. I give them chicken necks and chicken frames and cut off any excess fat. Have you tried to feed them other digestible bones rather than the wings?

I feed mine twice a day too only the other way around. They get the RMB in the morning and the meaty part in the evening.

well as someone who does everything, heartworm, flea, intestinal worm treatments seperate, I am horrified that anyone thinks it's ok to double up on chemicals. Just goes against the grain. I'd never go to that vet again. It may not be bad for them, have never looked into it, but I would never ever do it. With all the stress on the body nowadays why add to it? Yes, I'm shocked a vet would say that was ok to do. I would never double on any chemicals. That's the reason I wouldn't have the yearly heartworm shot either. 12 months worth in one lot. No thanks.

Sentinal Spectrum prevents the flea egg from hatching. I use it because it covers intestinal worms as well as heart worm and it's very easy to administer

As much as I adore my dogs, there is no way they get to lick my face. I know where their noses and tongues have been. They are very affectionate and this is shown in other ways. They don't get to lick dishes or share cutlery either. Doesn't mean I love them or they me any less.
