Hi All, I have had a pretty rough last couple of days, with my pregnant girl (50days), who contracted, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis disease, it all started thursday when i got home from work & there was vomit & bloody stools, everywhere, & her head hanging over the water bowl, I quickly rushed her down to my vet, they first asked me if she had been fully vaccinated as she had all the symptoms of parvo, & of course she was, the gave her a shot of anti vomit injection & antibiotics, she then gave her an ultrasound, to make sure all the pups where fine, which they were but at this stage my main concern was her....the vet said they could keep her there however like she stated nobody would be there till the morning, so we opted to bring her home where i could keep a good watch on her, the vet said they either recover real good or go pear shape & be dead in 24hrs..... you could imagine my thoughts, we made it through the night & went back friday morning & she had picked up quiet a bi, there was still quite a bit of blood when she gave her an anal examination, she said she still not out of the woods & gave me more antibiotics to give her.... when i got home i looked it up on the net, & said its quite common in small & med sized breeds, from 2 to 4 yrs of age & once they have had it can reoccur, they are not sure on how they get it & thankfully its not contagious, she is back to her normal self this morning, & back to the vet for a check up..............so fingers crossed........ it just goes to show how i had a healthy dog when i left for work, & came home to this...... *********** UPDATE all is good now still continuing with antibiotics vet given her the all clear THANK GODDDDDDDDDDD *************

HI GUYS.......... well brittany has picked up really well & is starting to aeat a little bit more, I have never cookied so much bloody chicken in all my life.lol I am now mixing it with advance wet food & kibble, her tail is wagging, her gums are back to a nice pink colour, back to the vet this morning for another check up..i have done some research on this disease & its not contagious (thank god), & is more common in Toy & med sized breeds affecting ages from 2 to 4 yrs of age, once they have had it it can reaccur.......... the symptoms are the same as a dog with parvo... vomiting blood in stools, lathargic........ going to get her xrayed next week for puppy count, I am thinking about 8 or 9 christ

HI All hope all pregnancy's are going well, BRITT is having a real hard time, last night when i got home from work rushed her to the vets, as it looked like she had been vomiting all day long with heaps of diarrhea,& her head hanging over her water bowl my vet said it sounded as though she has hemorrhagic gastroenteritis disease, she was given anti vomiting injection as well as antibiotics, did ultrasound & pups were all fine, the vet said would be touch & go for the next 72 hrs. I couldnt believe, how a healthy dog could go down hill so quick. I took a sickie today as had to take her back to the vets & she does seem heaps better, she is drinking fluids & even ate some roast chicken (without the skin)the vet said she isnt out of the woods yet & been pregnant makes things a little more complicated grrrrrrrrrrr so have my fingers crossed my heart goes out to her....... she isnt touching her biscuits (kibble) should i give her some calcium syrup????
-
hI ALL just wondering how accurate are ultrasounds, for seeing how many pups your having, & what is the best stage of pregnancy to have this done?? thanks
-

i have 4 cavies & all mine sleep in the garage in there crates at night, if they had there way they would be in & on the bed, they do come in for cuddles but thats as far as it goes for me, as for barkin I tell mine to shut up, if that doesnt work which usually does the rolled up newspaper comes out & works wonders, usually the threat of it is enough lol
