  1. I guess what they are saying if you have the money to buy more than one pedigree dog then you should also be able to cover insurance or vet treatment yourself and not rely on a charity to cover the costs.
  2. Hope you have good weather and everyone has a good time, I will be working so can't make that one but hopefully I can organise time off work to come camping later on.
  3. Good Luck with your move and hope the dogs and cat settle easily for you.
  4. Brooke if you are happy with the Vet why not ask them why they didn't ask these questions before when you booked in for the surgery and why isn't it routine?
  5. Thiopentone is a barbituate that's use results in a very slow recovery time, and it's also very outdated and if accidentally given external to the vein it can cause tissue necrosis. Propofol has a very fast recovery time. Thio has not been routinely used in hospitals for a good fifteen years. Not sure where you got the information Thio isn't used in our hospitals it certainly is, I counted it this morning in our durg count.
  6. RIP King Tip. Hugs for you Teebs.
  7. Blocks sound like a good idea instead of the spray I am using at the moment.
  8. Not sure how much a dog needs to eat to be toxic but if I were you I would contact the Emergency Vet and see what they suggest.
  9. Do you have a link for these ? Raffle http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=219617 Ebay shop http://stores.ebay.com.au/MDBA-Pacers-Anim...-Charity?_rdc=1 Meg that is very naughty of you to put up the links you know I am sucker for buying things I shouldn't
  10. Julie and everyone else you are doing a great job just keeping my fingers crossed it all works out and everything gets moved in time. Vicsta81
  11. Great work everyone, hope Vicsta81 is okay.
  12. I was going to call my Dane Martini because her legs reminded me of a martini glass that was stopped when someone suggested Martina Navratalova, her name is Sparkles and yes she is a Dane and her name suits her as she is the life of the party. No objections to food/drink names here.
  13. As a shift worker I find Sparkles will sleep when I do, she lets me sleep during the day and will often find something to do or sleep elsewhere once I have gone to sleep. When I am at home on days off she usually takes herself to bed around 7.30 pm I will get up any time of the night to let her go out to the toilet when she wants then go straight back to bed and sleep. Sparkles sleeps on or in my bed depending on how cold it is and can also go to any other furniture in the house that she wants to. During the day if I am sleeping she can also go outside in the back garden as I leave the door open for her to go in and out as she pleases.
  14. Proud Mum and so you should be Dante is a Super Star Dane! Sparkles would like his pawdegraph too if at all possible.
  15. Run free Rex, hugs Kirty
  16. Welcome Crash. Pleased the hotspot is clearing up. Try to have an open mind about vets like every profession there are good and bad, I would suggest you look for a vet you like and trust while Crash is well then if you ever need urgent vet care you know who to. Crash looks like a beautiful big boy.
  17. Horts I've just read this What a wonderful long life you have had together may your happy memories help to ease the sadness. Hugs to you and Ella RIP Kuges run free old man
  18. What a wonderful story with all the doom and gloom at present, so glad owners were found so she can enjoy her old age in comfort and safety. Good warning for anyone moving who has had a dog go missing to update their details just in case years later the dog is found.
  19. Congratulations Ruth and happy Anniversary too!
  20. My girl can come and go as she likes when I am out, I work long shifst so locking her inside isn't an option. I also have a fear of house fire not paranoid but having lost a family member in a house fire and a year later having a house I could see from my backdoor destroyed by fire killing some children while I was at work one night I always have an escape route available for my animals when I am not home. The back yard is secure with locked side fence and many people don't realise you can walk in my front gates. I also have very good neighbours around me who keep an eye on my place and animals, its a great place to live! For the barking I would put up some screen so Raz cannot see the neighbours dog. I would try to remedy the problem now rather than ignore it my neighbours dog barks at me anytime I walk out my front door, annoying me and any other neighbours. I just ignore it, the neighbours do know it is annoying and appologise I don't want to compain becasue it isn't worth it in all other respects my neighbours are very good and considerate.
  21. Gayle that is exactly what I think. My last Dane was retired from breeding when I got her she died in my arms from a post surgical complication aged 11 years 8 months. Danes may not live to 17 years however with longevity you need to have quality of life and my old girl certainly had that until she died.
  22. **Update on our little Inga. Just heard from the vet and she is no longer in critical condition. In fact they said she is doing surprising well considering. Has even eaten 2 meals (no surprise she loves her food). They ended up treating her for toad toxicity even though they initially did not think that this is what her systems suggested. She is on a drip for today and hopefully we can pick her up tonight. Thank you to everyone for your warm wishes. Hopefully she will be back goofing about in no time. Just saw this now was getting a bit worried then saw your second post, that is so good your little girl is recovering well :D
  23. I think that is a lovely idea a small toy with note would be a great surprise for most people. I wouldn't bother emailing because some people don't answer or take much notice of emails. The puppy buyers who are not in touch with you may also have thought as time has gone by it is a bit late to send you an update on the pup so they don't bother by sending a 1st BD gift / card you are opening the door for them to have a bit of a brag session with you (enclose your email address for them so they can use it if they want).
  24. I post photos of my dog for my dog to be looked at rather than how she is living, I live in the same conditions she does so I don't mind if someone sees my house in a not so spotless condition. Having said that I have seen breeders photos where it appears the dogs are in a kennel and environment which appears to be rather dirty very hard to judge properly by one photo so I try to keep an open mind provided the dog/s look well and happy.
