We went away and left ours for 3 weeks, the older one (1) pined but the younger one (9 months) was not fazed. When we came home, we hid in our bedroom as apparently they'd run in there every day looking for us, so my friend let them in and they ran into the bedroom...we were like "Hellloooo, we're home" and they both dropped to a crouch and started whining in a high pitched way with their tails wagging and the little ones whole body wriggling. They slept on our bed that night and the younger one spent the entire night, sitting staring down at me in the dark (needless to say, he slept the next day away).

Our 2 have Mediank Private "Golden Paws" insurance. It costs us about $35 each dog per month (I think), We got discount for being Medibank Private members and then a 2nd discount for insuring a 2nd Dog. We've made 1 claim so far, when our younger boy was desexed and needed a hernia repaired at the same time. The refund was really quick...within 14 days. Overall, for my own health insurance (and the Dogs), I am really happy with Medibank Insurance.

As a Cavalier King Charles owner it really upsets me that they would treat their dog this way (let alone any breed....). CKCS are people pleasers, they love affection and they do not thrive without human companionship. They are companion dogs. If they are not giving their dog the love and attention he/she needs, then I can understand the barking. Our 2 are alone during the day whilst we work and besides the odd bark if a neighbours dog barks...they are pretty much content to hang out with eachother. I can fully understand the dog barking if he/she is left on a balcony - that's just awful. I would video diary it and continue to complain to the council etc. Good luck

The vet recommended a minute for each week of age - so at 15 weeks, we were doing a 15 min walk and now at just over a year, we generally go around 45mins - 1 hour. (we take it leisurely though at times, as we have small dogs....so they sniff every bush, rock, tree, dog and person on the way down to the park .... go nuts for a short time and then come home and sleep! (Cavaliers sleep over 80% of the day)

My 2 Cavaliers bark and whine and "talk" to eachother for hours! My older boy (2) has this weird playfight bark ... he sounds like chewbacca from starwars and my younger boy (1) has this high pitched yipping noise which has not changed from when he was a little pup. They playfight, bark, snap at eachother and then roll around on the floor seeing who can bite the most body parts of the other...then suddenly they stop....take a breather, lick eachother...lick themselves and then suddenly as if by silent consent...they start playfighting allover again. Your pups are completely normal and unfortunately I don't think you are going to successfully stop them as they are doing what comes naturally. As for feeding - I feed mine seperately as 1 of mine is a gutz and he will eat his and then eat the others whilst wimpy boy sits there and watches his dinner get eaten Anyway, good luck! 2 Pups!!!! WOW.... I found it hard with a 12 month old and a 10 week old Gorgeous pics by the way - loved the sleeping one!

we took ours there for several months - our younger dog did his puppy training there. After 3-4 months it no longer fit with our schedule so we left. We got some useful training tips there and enjoyed it for the time we were there. It was cheap and cheerful and what we expected for the price etc. I would recommend them

With my younger Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Porthos....now 1) we had plenty of vet visits and the same issues as you. He would poop firm, poop runny, lose mucous, there was blood, then there wasn't blood...we tried everything. The noise from his stomach when he'd eat grass etc was so loud - we always knew when his stomach was going to be bad The vet checked for coccidia, parvo, Giardia, plus heaps of other things I can't remember. He had a foecal analysis done, a rectal exam, he was wormed, etc. The thing that eased his tummy for a bit was stuff from the vets, it was a pinkish liquid we had to syringe into his mouth. We also had a powder to sprinkle into his water to replace electrolytes. Anyway, the vet then said we would try different foods and go off the breeders food which was advance puppy kibble and raw beef mince. We tried several different kibbles before we found Royal Canin Intestinal. He's been on that ever since. He is now fine The only thing is that he is around 1kg heavier than we'd like him, 8.5kgs to the 7.5kgs our 2 year old CKCS is.... we'd cut down treats and could not understand his weight gain....then we found out that the intestinal is very high in fat.... so we trooped back to the vet and found they do a low fat intestinal now and so now is on that. We have now, at just over 1 been able to intro a few things into his diet. He tolerates Raw Hide bones, Scooby Snacks, Carob dog drops, cheese and the occasional half tin-tray of My Dog "Steak and Cheese" (shared with my other CKCS).... but we can't give him raw like our older boy. Chicken makes him poop and bleed so we stay away from chicken.... raw mince makes him poopy....so we stick with the diet we are on and he is thriving I would see your Vet and have him checked for all the usual culprits - but if that doesn't work - then you maybe need to go the diet route. It's perseverance. It tooks months and months before we our Puppy right....and now he's a greedy little gut fest who loves his food and has the firmest poops of the 2 Hope he is better soon ;)

This was the first week we had D'Artagnan (12 months old) so he looks a little frightened. I don't think the dog did anything wrong, she was naturally inquisitive and rushed out an opened door to greet 2 dogs walking by. My 2 Cavaliers (well the younger one anyway) would do the same thing and I'd be mortified if the Dogs owners then kicked him away! Sounds awful! If anyone calls from the Council explain it like you to us, the Dog saw a means of escape and went out to greet 2 dogs walking by, all excited. If anything, the owners have not read the dogs intent properly and quite frankly if it were me, I would not be shouting at a 40 weeks pregnant lady or kicking an obviously excited dog. Good Luck

awwww that's so cute - thanks for sharing! What a cutie! My older boy (2) is usually on our bed waiting and our pup (1 yesterday) will wait beside the bed as he cannot jump up onto it he will prowl around the bed but as soon as lights are out he comes up and plops himself between our pillows!

We got ours Tuffy's each - only the younger boy really plays with toys anyway but we wanted to be fair Porthos enjoying his presents - notice old fave bone disgarded but still within reach (ignore Kindle box and new Handbag in background) haha As for the older boy (2) he just climbed into Husbands lap when presents were being handed as if to say "Arn't I present enough?" Flat collars but I have swapped to harness' for them both. Cavaliers snort alot (reverse sneeze) and my older boy can get it without even pulling on the lead. I therefore swapped him to a harness and have not had the problem since. He is show trained so trots along beside me rather than running on ahead. My younger boy can pull at times if he is excited so I swapped him to a harness as well.

I had my boys groomed the other day for the first time (professionally). She wanted to buzz cut them allover! She was shocked when I said "No". But they are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and I don't want that look for them. I asked her to give them a sanitary buzz (cos they wee on their own stomach fur) and to clip discreetly/thin out the coat. She did a good job and they look much neater - but she did cut their "Slippers" off. Since I am not showing them, I will cope with that... :rolleyes: Least they won't be picking up every bindi out there on their paw hair now

When I got my 10 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, my breeder told me to feed him a small amount of kibble (I think I did a quarter cup) and a palm sized ball (so cup your hand) of raw beef mince (we fed them premium grade, not the pet stuff).
