On page 11 there is an ANKC survey re: breeders of GSD's to screen parents for hip and elbow dysplasia through an "official HD and ED control scheme". This topic has possibly come up a few months ago but we were waiting for it to be rolled out into QLD or something like that. The ANKC did not explain what constitutes an "official control scheme" in their request. What does it mean, does anyone know?

What date is the seminar in Feb? 11th - 13th Oh ok. I won't be going then as I want to save my money for the Mia Skogster seminar held in Brisbane end of Feb. Can't beat training with the current world champ! http://www.metrodogsport.com/metro_2010_005.htm

Yes, the judge tells you which direction to go once your dog is already out there, so you need to teach both. You don't lose any points if the dog spins to face you after the send away (I didn't realise you did in IPO either, that's interesting! Is it a big deduction in IPO?) Sorry, thats not what I meant. I was just saying how you see dogs spin in IPO.

So whats your opinion on this SW??? Flat or dipped backs were very common in the original GSD's and those dogs worked just fine. They look nothing like the SL dogs of today do they.......... Although I bet you could find many WL dogs that still look similar to these photo's. -

V Zasko vom Preilberg SchH3 KKL1 is the latest WL male imported into OZ. He also has progeny all over the world competing in SchH at a high level, the latest being a Zasko son scoring the highest C work in the BSP. Not the prettiest dog but KKL1 is very good in anyones books. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_she...ree/471579.html -

Take a look at the very early pics of the GSD. There is no curve in the back.............. The back is very flat much like many WL dogs. The show world bred in the curve and over time exaggerated it to get the "roach back". This is not what the original GSD's were like. There are no tests in place in Australia.... There is no need to find an alternative to SchH either. We just have to suck it up and get on with it. -

I totally agree. SL needs WL more than WL needs the SL. There are planty of WL with sound structure etc... and all the conformation/ breed survey titles to back it up. -

The 'Application to Register' form says:- Seminar attendance is unlimited however; handler & dog teams working with Mia at the seminar are limited to10 per day. To make application please fill out the attached form. But that might not be the case, Yesmaam Re: not the case etc... It was only a thought so don't look too far into it..... I would still get in sooner rather than later to save any disappointment if anything were to possibly change. Things happen for various reasons but as it stands right now spectator spots are unlimited.

What did you expect?? Your pup is obviously testing the waters and it will only get worse as he matures unless you sort out your pack structure...... seek professional help with this one. Re:reputable breeder of Australian champions...... A GSD "Australian champion" does not have its temperament tested so it means nothing outside the showring. -

This is simply not true. Have a look around the world and tell me how many SL make a world championship IPO/ SchH team. The answer is very few. If it was just a matter of doing what you were saying then there would be many more SL on the world championship circuit but there isn't. Dogs must qualify to make the teams so work it out for yourself. There are always exceptions to this but in general the WL will out perform everytime. -

I would expect a dog weak on nerve would flick out of prey drive and into defence quite quickly. To add to this a thinner nerved dog would generally be more hectic. -

Can you back up what you just said??? I think its a load of rubbish. Many WL breeders breed dogs with health issues...lol what a load of crap! -

Just got my hips and elbow scores back for my WL male. 2-2 hips and 0-0 elbows. You can't get much better than that. Also, at a recent presentation at the GSDCQ by the Queensland Police Dog Squad Dog Development Officer, he said that their breeding program is based on WL GSD's only and that they only breed with hips of less than a total of 10. The GSDCA max allowed for breeding is a total of 16 and they are a 99% SL club so there you go. It would be safe to say your theory is flawed.
