Why I'm Glad I Didn't Go Grey Or Online....
KumaAkita replied to jr_inoz's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
No issues for me either... my camera from DigitalRev was just over $1000 and was here within a few days. My second purchase of lens, tripod and filter was much lower in cost so probably wouldn't have raised any eyebrows. Tho I have just had to return the tripod, one of the legs won't extend, so we'll see how that goes! -
Soooo.... How'd iMac day go?

I actually copped out and bought the 55-200 cheapie I listed above. My rationale was that it was a good place to start and I can get a feel for how much I actually use a zoom lense. Also, if I ever got to sell my camera, I can sell it as a twin lens kit with the cheapie 18-55mm. I'm going to save up for the 70-300 but wanted something to play with NOW! And at $175 was quite justifiable  ETA: Beautiful shots gapvic!

Very pretty SL. I love my Porteen Gear bag. Soooo nice! Fits everything and more :)

Might be worth asking a pharmacist, they should be able to get it and may be able to give it to you cheaper. My dermo vet gave me a prescription for ABs for Kuma, we got the generic version and paid $30 for his whole treatment which would have cost us over $100 from the vet. I checked MIMS (the book that lists all drugs available) and can see that there's a couple of versions of Meloxicam available... can't hurt asking!

What's Your 10 Second Info Grab?
KumaAkita replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Akita It's a japanese bear hunting dog ...Bear hunting? Yep, he's doing a great job too. A haven't seen a bear since we brought him home. :) Those who want to know more usually get the potted history of the breed, but most are happy with just the above snapshot. -
So sorry you've had a rough time of it lately Jack n Dash's mum. I love the one of Dash with his snood and your Easter shots are great :)

Comment catch up: Snook: Justice looks so serious in his back pack! Glad to hear it's helping. Oh my, Justice is the best easter bunny - awesome :D TLC: A lovely shot of Lacy in the flowers, she looks so pretty. I like your w15, such a relaxed shot. MnDM: Monet with her stick is brilliant  Diva is living up to her name, she's beautiful. Juddy's gettin' quite handsome too! Cool shot of Benson, he is very focussed on something! Your w14 beach collection is great, they look like they're having a blast. ktig: Paddy with his ball is adorable! He also makes an awesome easter bunny, showing great control in not eating those eggies! anniek: Ladies wear pretty bonnets for Easter, Phoebe looks so cute. Not so cute with her sausage   I tried to get Kuma in bunny ears... he flung them off quick smart! No amount of inducement would get them to stay on longer than a split second  Must have been something to do with the ears, he was happy in his reindeer antlers at Christmas - wore them for ages.

Hope he flourishes in care. Flaves: Your bubba is looking beautiful. I really love the movement in the week 13 shot. MTD: Ouch is right! Hope you heal quickly. Ohhh and that grub is freaky! CrazyCresties: Nice tattoo! Not so sure I'd be a willing employee cleaning the bell tower, no siree. Your easter bunny is very lovely, and most reluctant.

Great photos as usual kja! Feedback... I really like the composition of the shot, it feels moody and foggy (I get the sense that's kinda how you were feeling on the dive). I'm a bit distracted by your watermark, but totally get the purpose. ETA: I keep coming back to this... it is so different from your other really vibrant photos. But I really like it.

Excellent, thanks so much! I will go on a lens hunt. Appreciate you helpin' a numpty out :)

Ok, so can you explain that for me? I'm so new to this I'm still trying to get my head around all the numbers... Grace - thanks for the link!

I've done a search, but can't find what I'm after so I'm starting yet another what lens thread! I have a Nikon D5100 which came with an 18-55mm kit lens and I added the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G to my stash. I love the 50mm, it's great. The kit lens is ok, but I would like to add a longer zoom to my bag. But, this begs the question... which one!!?? I'd like something that will be good for action shots, think dog parks and shows. Something that is a bit more flexible than the kit lens. I've had a look at the lenses below, but I'm not sure if any of these are right of if there are others I could consider Nikkor 55-200mm Nikkor 55-300mm Nikkor 70-300mm Anyone able shed some light as to which would be the better way to go? I'm getting rather confused

Nice shots T! Seems you're getting the hang of your new toy :D

Gosh these are amazing, kja! Just stunning :)

We are usually the only ones out at 5:30 am on a dark, cold Canberra winter's morning... I also find that I can see quite a way into the distance, so I can see oncoming traffic reasonably early to be able to make a difference. If you're hesitant about it, I would stick to well lit paths.

Same here! just chuck a small torch in my pocket so I can find poo deposits (Kuma insists on crapping at the darkest spot on our walk) As it gets colder I look more and more like the Michelin man with layers of warm clothing - Kuma on the other hand revels in the cool conditions.

Week 13 and I've copped out and used a photo of Kuma! 13/52 by KumaAkita, on Flickr Kuma, your friendly neighbourhood watch representative.
