  1. Yay for Mars... I'm sure he'll be just fine. Kuma did puppy preschool at our vet too. I actually think that it's a good start for them. Kuma has NEVER slept in our bedroom - never going to be an option, so no worries about uhem.. wink wink nudge nudge You'll have to come and look at Kuma's crate - it would be big enough for two small/medium dogs and only just big enough for one not fully grown Akita. :p Not sure that my friend who owns a Koolie would agree. Patch digs everything and anything in the yard (i.e. he ate a huge tree stump in their yard) and steals their laundry from the line... He also herds the kids and nips at their ankles. He could run to africa and back and still want to play. I have tried to tell her that he's probably a bit bored and needs some stimulation, but they "don't have time"... he was a free to a good home dog in All Classifieds and an impusle decision. Poor Patch.
  2. Oh look at that Chow Chow (i'm pretty sure that's what it is) their looks are decieving... apparently mean things (happy to be corrected ) Kuma's crate is in the lounge room, next to the TV, so he can be with us. He's never been allowed in our bedroom (not that it has stoped him trying!). He also has a cupboard for "Kuma stuff" (leads, treats, etc), a crate of toys, two shelves in my linen cupboard... man, this dog has taken over our lives - and we wouldn't have it any other way! OH doesn't do training - he didn't like our beginners instructors (known as Santa and the Poodle Lady) so he thought that his mood was impacting on how Kuma was training and has elected to stay away. I will try and get him to come back, but I won't push it. Wuffles: Sounds like my house! Kuma was going a bit bonkers the other night, jumping and wanting to play. OH was getting cranky. I said, "do some training with him"... OH: "what do you want me to do?", ME: "Sit, drop, touch, stay... you know... basics!". He spent about 10 mins and came in to me saying "oh, he's such a good boy..." plus Kuma had calmed down and was playing nice.
  3. Hope Mars is ok today. I'm sure he'll be fine Kuma is the same, he lurves the vet - especially one of the vet nurses Michelle. Apparently he was all "see ya!" when the OH dropped him off for the snip...
  4. in need of a brush??? just kidding... I have no idea what it is, but man that's one awesome coat!
  5. Did you go for your walk this morning? My poor neglected dogs didn't get to go I am home sick today though so they are both fast asleep in their beds while I lie on the couch and try regain the sleep I lost last night from coughing Soooo not good weather for potty training KTB, I feel for you Satch hasn't been outside yet... Yep. We were out at 5:30 and got soaked through. oh well! the OH will be quiet at work today (he works in construction sales - no sites will be open today) and will pop home a couple of times to take him out for a wizz.
  6. I'm so not watching the end of the movie then! The OH made the kennel... he's a wee bit handy, bless him Kuma's not so sure about the kong. I reckon he'll work it out one day. OMG - It's the Flying Nun! There sure has been a lot of rain recently.. our clam shell is now half full and the weeds are the size of small trees now. I'm actually very happy the rain has eased off for a day, it was pouring down last night which woke me and all I could think of was standing out in the cold wet grounds of BDOC... Ok, so the rain arrived at 4:30 am this morning, not 9:00 pm last night as BOM predicted. But it's miserable! hmmmm... it's going to mushy at BDOC now! I reckon it would be ok. If you wait until most people have cleared off, and played only with a small group of dogs, he should be ok. Probably best to meet some of the other dogs on neutral territory... I've left Kuma inside today, it is too wet for him to be out all day - he'd get super wet. He was all cozy in his bed this morning... he loves it! He has tried to get it out of the kennel, but it's wedged in pretty tight.
  7. Oh lilli_star... hugs to you and Roo. Least you didn't fall asleep in front of the class while you should have been sleeping. I always fall asleep in vehicles and often find it hard to stay awake...
  8. Photo Time! Kuma got a new bed for his kennel today. The one we were using was too small and a certain dog kept taking it out of the kennel and leaving it lying willy nilly in the back yard. Kuma swears it wasn't him. Not sure if I believe him (and posted evidence to the contrary) Annnd... while the OH was at Pet Barn he bought some of those Kong Treats, Kuma discovered he likes those: Not much chewing on the super heavy duty Kong yet, but I'm sure he'll work it out in the end.
  9. Think the antlers came from someone on DOL. Check out the marketplace in off topic. Correct me if I'm wrong... BTW Canberrans... Flash flood warning for the ACT region tonight. Rain expected from 9:00 pm, snow expected on Saturday morning. Awesome!!! (take care!)
  10. I think that Santa would just have to release the reindeer for Kuma to round up while he's busy sneaking into the house... but yes, you're right, it would take a brave man Me too! I have a boofer of a dog who won't* even jump into the back of the stationwagon. He puts his front paws up and give us this pathetic "help please..." look *note that it's not can't... he can jump in there well enough, he likes playing us for fools!
  11. Santa will be coming to Kuma... Not sure what he'll get, but the will be something under the tree for him. I got my sisters pooch a pigs ear last year, my nephew just threw it at Boba who didn't know what to do with it... Think it wound up in the bin
  12. Look at all those toys! I don't think I'll go much beyond the bargin bin at Pet Barn for Kuma. He LURVES thrashing his new DMAN Tug, not tugging but "killing" it... weirdo. Oh! I forgot! He got himself wedged in behind the futon last night (about a 30cm gap between it and the wall!) I went to get my camera but he was too quick and woodgied his way out (yep, technical term...) This was also after he was being too quiet and we found him lazying on the futon... think he's making it his new bed
  13. Wuffles/KTB... you shuldn'a shown me that! the OH and I have put a spending freeze on... but I can't help but look...
  14. And I didn't finish watching it... probably wont either! unless my bubba was sitting with me so I could hug him if necessary. He watched the first 15 minutes... he kept trying to play with the dogs... wondering where they went! But, I did notice how much Kuma's manerisms were like the Akitas they used. Typical Akita Stuff. Yeah, but that was because we were dying under the suspense someone had to pitch in ... We have the same one, not used any more coz Kuma's too big. Yours if you want it. Yay for Elbie. He will work it out - if he's at the bottom, he will be just fine. Woot. go Smudge
  15. Yep... It's sad. Could be that I am a bit tired and emotional at the moment! And yes, Richard Gere... Weird. Obviously American audiences couldn't deal if it was set in japan!
  16. Morning all... awww KTB... cute photos. The sleeping together is a good sign. I'm sure that Hoover will follow Elbie around and work out the toilet situation soon enough. How did Hoover go with his first night? Sleep well?? Wuffles: Ava was adorable. little fluff monster! (ETA: that didn't sound right... she is still cute!) lilli_star: don't worry... I think all of us has experienced idiot-dog at training at least once... (I know I have!) I watched a bit of a terrible movie last night - Haitchi: A Dog's Tale. The OH IQ'd it, coz its the story about Japan's most revered Akita. But, in typical Hollywood style, they are now in America and Richard Gere plays the lead character (zzzzz). Anyhoo, it is really sad (quite a famous story in Japan: guy gets Akita, dog follows him everywhere, waits at the train station every afternoon, guy dies one day at work, dog sits and waits for the train station for the rest of its life). I had a big blubber and had to go hug my dog. AND we didn't watch all of it coz I couldn't see through the tears. Kuma was in bed and when I went out for a cuddle he gave me "muuuuum, i was asleeeeep...." but he gave me a kiss anyway But the most amusing part? They had Shiba Inus as Haitchi as a young dog. OH and I kept laughing - "That's a Shiba!!" Plus they obviously had to use several dogs, and they are ever so slightly different... A dog lover can tell, the average audience probably not! and dammit... I seem to have lost my clicker. Not having a good week
  17. That is classic He is adorable. I so want cuddles. Those eyes... nnaawwww. Hope the meeting with elbie goes well. I'm sure that they'll be just fine.
  18. ;) norty Koala! keep us posted! See, we managed to keep ourselves entertained in your absence, but you were killing us with the suspence
  19. Minxy - no way! Kuma was born on 11-Nov-2009! That would be just too funny!
  20. something tells me we will have to wait until Koalathebear gets home
  21. Ask and ye shall recieve: clicky clicky He's from Daykeyne and his littermates are: * Carefactor Zero (Marshall - dog) * Hands off the Booty (Oshii - bitch) * The Pleasure is Yours (Drama - bitch) check out Marshall, he's a biggun. Oooh the feature profile at the top of the link, Overhills swift of fut is the littermate of the dad of my potential pup http://dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=31617 aaand this is the bitch: http://dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=38801 On the waiting list, and this is definitely my favourite breeding so far. So I have my fingers and toes crossed! Kuma's siblings are gorgeous I don't think I could ever tire of looking at Akita photos! Good luck Minxy! Overhills Swift of Fut has awesome markings Also heard good things of Goodomen. hmmm.. Akita photos. They are lovely fluffy boofers
  22. yep... he's Daykeyne Kuma Very original ! Tabatha is awesome, lets her pet dogs be given pet names. I think Kuma has a fault, which is why he isn't a show dog. Don't know what that fault is, but she said "he's almost show quality". We just think he's a lovely lump of a dog. He cost us a fortune, but we knew what kinda quality we were getting. He's worth every cent (most of the time ) Yeah, she's a beauty. Tabatha has kept her, don't blame her really!

  24. What's your breeder's prefix? You got Ike from the local guys who have since moved, right? I saw them rehoming their mature dogs. Try this listing - see if any of them are your littermates: Linky
  25. I like following the progress of Ava's breeder's dogs too KA... There are pics of her brother (Dragon) and her mum (Vivi) in this post. Ava looks like her mum rather than her handsome boofer brother! Apart from her colouring I think she's a wonderful specimen! One of her other brothers is doing obedience so I think it might turn into a bit of a competition at some point... ha Glad it's not just me then! They look like such good dogs - great stock Ava comes from! I'm intrigued by the Aussie coat markings, do they vary so much in litters? darnnit - just noticed the time. that's the end of my lunch, better get back to work!
