That's why I generally stay out of that forum - because I can't post in it and therefore can only get hot under the collar! Hmmm... oh well.

:D at Elbie seeking devine intervention! So funny!! Did they end up enjoying the cake? Max#1 - look at you getting all posty in the forums The fruits of your labour will be the ability to see how many disfunctional people are on this forum

Thanks for all the complements! I am another slacker who tries hard to comment on all the photos but ends up either missing someone or everyone Thanks! Yep, he's a fetch fiend. One of my photo ideas is trying to get him mid-fetch. I love that collage of Zero, he looks like such a cheeky bugger. How could you be mad at that amount of dog happiness? Bob going for a swim is a corker - he looks so unimpressed! Lovely photo of cowboy - such expression in those eyes. Hmmm... I reckon Lottie and Kuma would have a great romp in the water together. He's a sucker for a splash around And great pics Katalily - nice doggies I know I've missed a few people there... but there are some awesome photos in this thread. Great for inspiration! * Ok, my Week 6 is a bit late but here it is: W6/52 Did ya say summin'? by shibburd, on Flickr

Oh she's beautiful! Yeah, the spitz thread is long, just read the last few pages and jump on in ;)

;) ;) happy birthday Elborino! He was such a cute little pupper, and has grown into such a charming (if somewhat seal-like) dude. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that Kuma spends most of his day moving from cozy spot to cozy spot sleeping. He has done the same thing as Satch, we've come home after a long day out (I leave at 7:30 am, OH gets home around 5:00pm) found Kuma asleep in his kennel and hasn't noticed we've come home. When he goes off to pee and then comes inside and falls asleep on the rug. Yep, my full-o-beans Akita puppy

Morning Lena - good on you for rescuing this girl. You do know that photos are mandatory!! ;) My boy sleeps in a crate inside, perhaps this is something that you could consider for her? that way she's inside and cozy, but not able to wander around the house. I wouldn't be too worried about her sleeping on the concrete - she probably has slept on the bed at some point during the night but has moved to the concrete to cool down. My boy loves lying on our concrete patio. In respect to the hair, they aren't as heavy shedders as some other breeds. She will drop twice a year, and you will notice a few dust bunnies around the place at other times. My parent's lab shed more hair than my Akita! Come into the spitz breed forum and chat with us other spitzers ;)

bummer about that link... I just checked it and it worked for me. Perhaps because it's in Off-Topic?? Someone asking what drinks other than tea/water are good for you. Then it went into meltdown about how bad milk is for the human body. Oh, and Max is looking awesome! Those photos are great. Glad you could get out of the house for a little while. I have the same concerns about my job and my dog. I spend so much time away with work that I miss out on heaps with Kuma. Luckily Mr KumaAkita is home all the time, so he's always covered. But, I miss my boys so much when I'm away.

OOooohhHh Happy Birfday Ziggy!!! Hope you're being spoilt rotten *edited to add: anyone seen this thread. from a simple question to a full on debate... can anyone else say Kaboom?

Thanks... may take you up on that. We'll do this Thursday night, but if it's still craptacular we may just walk away. That's great! They are so coordinated Kyliegirl - I wouldn't worry too much about Echo's excitement at puppy class. Like KTB, our puppy classes were held at the vet clinic. Most of the time, Kuma would be just trying to play with Mumba the Shar Pei next to us... or just hanging out with the other puppies. We put in some extra time at home working on sit/down/stay, and eventually he got these commands in the high distraction enviroment of puppy class. We used puppy class mainly for socialisation and weren't too focussed on achieving perfection. Oh, and Kuma is like Hoover and Elbie - Sir Lunge-A-Lot when we're heading into the BDOC grounds, but he will eventually calm for LLW.

He is just beautiful!

I dunno what Satch has in him... But I am as sure as sugar that I met his brother the other day in Aranda. OH reckons he is a Santa Claus x Labrador because of satchs white beard... Apparently Santa had too much egg nog that year

mwah ah ah ahhhhhha hah ha ... Butt Ham... :D That's awesome. She's looking so lovely.

You do realise Ravenau that this needs photographic evidence? How can we simply take your word for it? :D
-
Sent you a PM Maybe we could get together a little training group every now and then and we can all help each other. You are beyond sweet. I think that would be awesome

and I thought you left Evil Koala at home today!

I completely understand that you guys are all volunteers... but if this was an isolated incident at the club, I don't think I'd have such an issue. Bit given this is a continued occurence, I'm beginning to rethink my choice of training club. I'm not seeking one-on-one indepth training, but having someone at least say "hey, everything ok? How are you finding xyz exercise" would be nice. Not someone giving me a wide berth and not approaching me or my dog and never seeking to help sucks. Kuma and I are never going pass bronze at this rate.

I love Spencer's face in that... CanI'va biscuit pleeeease??? Riley is such a lovely looking dog. I love how shiny his coat is, so sleek.

Hope Max is feeling better... poor thing couped up in the house, must be boring as for an active puppy like him. But... he has no Akita in him at all, sorry for crushing your spirits there Kuma loves that red ball. He's got two of them, one was too small and always ended up under the TV and we'd have doglet giving us this mournful look pleading for us to get it out. It is now outside and I bought him a bigger one for inside. He will nom on it for ages - I also think he derives great pleasure getting it to make farty noises - chewing it so that the air squeezes out of the hole and goes fffrrrttt frrrrtttt frrrrttt... charming. Echo is looking lovely and shiny! and rather big! Clastic - I think I have a few photos of Kuma like that. Amazes me how they find that comfortable... We had a craptacular night at training last night. Our trainer didn't turn up, and we were lumped in with another bronze class (but only after I had to ask about 3 people what the hell was going on...). Ended up being about 15 dogs in the class and only one instructor. Oh, and the instructor was scared of Kuma - he noticibly flinched when doing steady for pats, and not because Kuma was being bitey or anything, he was sitting calmly... After that OH snapped his biscuit and sat in the car for the rest of the night. The trainer didn't come near me for the rest of the session so I didn't get any one-on-one discussion with a trainer at all. If it happens next week, I'm not coming back. More toxic threads coming up today... I feel it in my bones
-
Baaaah ha ha ha... they are awesome photos KTB. I love Elbies cheeky face in the second last one - like he's saying "tee hee hee, sucker. My plan worked ". I have been thinking of leaving Kuma's crate unzipped, but the OH doesn't like the idea of Kuma licking him on the face during the night. I'm certain that Kuma will not budge, but for now we are zipped in tight. Yes, hmm... toxic threads. Seriously can't see Akita in there at all, but hey... I'm no expert in dog genetics by any means. Here's hopin' that Maxy Boy and James are on the up and up! Ok, so my photo contribution is my 52 Weeks for Dogs entry for week 5... I got a bit busy, so it was actually taken this week, but hey... who's counting? W5/52 A Dog and His Ball by shibburd, on Flickr

I'll come back and comment later, but I wanted to put up my week 5 photo. Ok, so it was taken last night which technically makes it week 6... but anyhoo... W5/52 A Dog and His Ball by shibburd, on Flickr Week 6 to come soon...

Ha ha ha ! I bought frankfurts today for the spoiled brat. I also have left over mozzarella from tonights dinner that will be chopped up for the treat bag.

What Breed Do You Think This Dog Is?
KumaAkita replied to Kelpiegal's topic in General Dog Discussion
Looks like an akita pup to me too. He has an akita face to me. My cousin just got an akita cross pup from a shelter and this guy has the same shaped face and muzzle. He certainly doesn't have anything remotely spitz like as a tail!! I agree. Aside from the colouring around the muzzle I see no Akita in that dog at all, nor do I see any Shiba I'm jumping on the No Akita bandwagon too... -

The Hound of the Baskervilles is a Sherlock Holmes tale, and from memory (I'm sure Google or DOL will correct me) the dog had a wicked howl... (and ended up killing much of the cast...) It's likely in one of the screen adaptations of the book, a beagle was used as the "hound" I met a few new pups this morning... a little black poodle type dog and a little SWF. I asked the poodle's owner if it was a mini poodle - nope, a cav x poodle (using its DD name) and the SWF was a Japanese Spitz x Poodle (again, using its DD name). If in doubt of mixed heratige, I will either guess at the most obvious mix or simply ask the owner!
