  1. Our little man Toby bite Connie and myself. I sort of growl at him and he calms straight down. Connie is going to start trying the "Yelping" technique tonight as her growl does not stop him from nipping. Most times i believe he is simply playing, but with new teeth comes pain too, so make sure she has good chew toys stuffed with treats. Give her that when she starts nipping you, then she may hopefully associate nipping with her chew toy, and not your flesh.. I think it is a little hard to "unlearn" something. Kind of like watching the news, then being told to forget everything you just saw.
  2. I think we all consider ourselves to be lucky to have him. He is my little shadow during the day, and then Mummies little boy once Connie gets home...The kids now spend more time playing with Toby then they do playing the Wii, so i not seeing an issue there.. I am not real use to super small dogs myself, having had a pure bred Staffy boy before. But my Mum had both a pure Chi, and a Chi cross Foxy, so it all came flooding back. Connie has always had Chihuahua's before Toby. This was his first bath time... I can not help but to think of "Lightening McQueen" with this pic... But you tell me... Lightening.. Toby.... ;)
  3. He is awesome. There is myself, Connie and two kids here. So he gets all the attention he needs. We took him for a drive to Warwick over x mas, and he fell asleep no worries at all. So not a lot seems to upset him.. He has a few kitten like things he likes to do. Has to be touching someone when he goes to sleep, he luvs playing with little cat balls with bells in them, and he has a little prance/jump to him at times..... He knows his bed time, and he will sit at Connie's feet until she picks him up for his night time cuddles.
  4. Toby is 11 weeks old now, and he weighs 850 grams.
  5. Thanks for the replies everyone. It seems we have more reading to do yet. The main reason for the early de sexing was to limit the affect on him, and less impact on him as well. I have read that it is only one stitch, and they are up and about a lot sooner then when older dogs are done. We will be getting some help for sure in regards to training. Maybe looking at one of the many puppy pre school courses ...
  6. He is a little tike. Great puppy though, and super affectionate.
  7. Thought i would share a few pics of our little guy. Toby is a pure bred Chihuahua, and spoilt rotten. He has made himself quite at home, and already has all of us wrapped neatly around a few tiny claws. The day we first met him. We actually went to look at a "little" girl. Which turned out to be not so little, but Toby stood out as very active and extremely playful. A trait to which he has added too now, and his little personality is starting to appear. He has become a real "water baby" now too. And his swimming lessons are going great. He now knows where the step is, and can just about get himself out of the pool. Which is an important thing to teach him having an in ground pool. Luv's his Kong treat toy. And with his "Shelby" ted. Sleeps on him, or next to him...
  8. Hey everyone. We have a little male Chihuahua named Toby. He is 11 weeks old, and weighs in at 850 grams now. He is due for his 12 vac next week...The lady from which we purchased Toby was telling us about early de sexing to stop him from cocking his leg at all. We initially did not want a boy just for this reason, but when we heard about this it seemed like a good idea. Now it appears to be quite big in the US, and a few vets are offering the service here as well. But i would like to hear from anyone that has had this done at such an early age. One vet will do him now, ( 800 gr weight limit) and another is at 2 months of age.. Very interested to hear both pro's and con's of this, as we really want to make the right decision for Toby as well.
