scolly replied to scolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
I go to the one at Castle hill Wednesday nights and it is great.... Trainer is very good with the dogs and very helpful!! But hopefully you can find one closer to you What is the name of the trainer and do you have contact details. There aren't many closer that do conformation training. Thanks for your help. -
Hi I am trying to find dog show training classes in sydney.I have been told there are some in castle hill which are meant to be good.I live north of the bridge. Any ideas?
-
thanks TT and geo.You might be right TT.we were walking on a track that runs alongside a dog friendly lagoon when she got startled by a large plastic pipe floating in the water. geo-my beagle boy has walked up to me cocked his leg and urinated on mine just because he could. He is also the alpha male!! You gotta love them

we have two beagles that my OH tolerates. A year ago for Christmas my OH bought me a staffy I had seen at Blacktown pound. She is supposed to be my dog But absolutely adores the OH.Every afternoon when she hears his car coming around the corner she bolts to the front door and greets him .she wakes him up every morning for breakfast, tells him when it's time to play,go for a walk, bark at the possum etc. on many occasions I have overheard him tell her he loves her and she is his girl.He is completely under her paw It's a love affair. We all sleep together and she is always on his side of the bed. I've told him dog no.4 will be mine!!!!!!!!!

Yep, my Stafford bitch is weak nerved and trembles if there's yelling in the house. She's not ever been mistreated, apparently her sire is the same. I love her to pieces but wonder why the sire was bred from when he is renowned for being very soft. The breed should be game and confident. Hi Clyde and Casablanca...do your staffies whimper or make any sound at all because ours doesn't she leaves the scene and we find her later on trembling. She isn't scared of thunder or fireworks! do they get a bit startled by some objects you pass whilst out for a walk?
-
Once again, thank you for your excellent advice.I will start the toilet training again and observe more closely the other behaviour. She is such a happy soul and we love her dearly! the beagles hate the rain as well, but will go outside to wee.You can see them tiptoe on the wet grass hoping they won't wet their paws wet!!!
-
Shut the back door on wet days. Make a concious and concerted effort to re-train her to pee specifically in the rain. Take her outside, treats, praise, all the stuff you did before to train her in the first place. It's really important you praise her for doing what you want her to do now you've discovered this quirk in her nature to avoid getting it any more ingrained than it already is. Yes I have had Staffords that dislike raised voices but I doubt it's specifically linked to the breed, a lot of different dogs are especially sensitive to the moods or actions of their owners - a lot also couldn't care less The very first time she did this retreat to the bed thing what did you do? We reassured her by talking ,patting and encouraging her to come out of the laundry which she did.
-
Hi and thank you for your advice.we don't yell at her as we know she doesn't know what she has done. Its more a surprise at having found the puddle and if she is in ear shot she runs to the bed and we find her shaking. When we first got her we spent a lot of time training her to sit, walk on a lead etc and go outside and "make the wee" which she does. She has improved greatly and there have been just a couple of accidents since .The back door is always open. She is not a nervy dog and is very friendly, she is not scared of men, women or teenagers. On a couple of occasions we have found her in the outside laundry trembling,I think when my two adult chidren were being silly with each other not her, she takes herself there,we don't send any dog there. we use positive reinforcement not fear. I know staffords like to please their owners and thought it could be linked to that.Don't know?? I will look into it further. It's not nice to watch.

we have a beautiful 2 year old staffy girl that we have had for a year.Unfortunately,we don't know her history for the first year of her life. Generally, she is very well behaved, affectioned and loves to hang out with us;however, every now and again when she urinates inside because it is raining outside and we gently reprimand her using our voice she runs and jumps on our bed and starts shaking/trembling.Is that normal behaviour in staffords??
-
Hi...we have three dogs, two beagles and a stuffy. All three love sleeping on the bed they generally take turns.Rocky, the beagle hops into bed, crawls under the cover and rests his head on the pillow just like a human. The staffy sleeps at our feet but wakes me up at 5 am every morning by putting her head under my neck to let me know it's time to wake up,jump out out of bed and feed her. When I'm sick all three are on the bed and don't move until I do. Wouldn't have it any other way.

18 Month Old Female Staffordshire Terrier Always Hungry
scolly replied to scolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
out of curiousity, why wouldn't you give an SBT marrow bones? or is it for any other dog as well? She is a staffordshire bull terrier.Yes she has been wormed and is very active, shiny and now well covered since we brought her home from the pound six months ago.She was very skinny and we are not sure if she has had a litter. I thought maybe it had something to do with her being a stray for a while. -

Hi...thanks for your feedback.I'll have to accept the fact that she is a food machine worse than beagles!!!!!!!!! I thought it may have something to do with the fact she was a stray for a short while before she ended up in Blacktown pound. We brought her home 6 months ago and we have all fallen in love with her. The only time she has shown her teeth to the beagles is over food. It's scary!! -

Dear Showdog thank you for your advice. I thought that might be the issue. -
Hi can anyone tell me what it means when an 18 month old female staffordshire bull terrier tries to hump my husband's leg, arm???? He does spoil her and is the main feeder in the household. Should we ignore the behaviour or try to stop her from doing it?

Beagle puppies are magic.Congratulations. I have two Beagles and they bring us such pleasure, love and joy.

Hi Buddy is 7 and we used to call him the old man as he would sleep for most of the day and wasn't interested in playing with his other mate,Rocky, but not now!Three weeks ago we adopted a 2 year old Staffy,we called her Sass. She has fallen for the old man and loves playing with him and he is enjoying every minute of it,however, at times, he will play hard to get and just ignore her. I have included a few photos of the love birds.

Trixie is beautiful. How old is she? I love the renovations to the fence.

Hi After admiring all the beautiful photos on this forum,I went ahead and bought the 450D cannon camera and a sigma lens at Harvey Norman.I have a lot to learn ,however,I'm sure it will be a great hobby and will never get bored with the main subject-dogs.I'm just playing around with the settings and at the moment my models are not very cooperative.Anyway, attached are a few photos of my beautiful dogs Rocky,Buddy and Sass the Stafford.

Hi I'm new to Dogz Online and think it's fantastic and very informative.I am dog crazy and have three at the moment. The first Beagle we bought as a puppy, the second Beagle was a rescue dog,and the third,a beautiful young Stafford, we adopted as her time was running out. They are all adorable and full of life and love! They are very spoilt!!!!!! I have been browsing the sensational photos in this forum and have decided to buy a proper camera and lens as up until now it's been the phone camera.I have attached a couple of photos. One of the beagles is missing. Will include more once I get the camera.

Hi is your dog a beagle? We have two boys 6 and 7 years old.A couple of weeks ago the yunger one ate potting mixture and pelleted chiken manure. He was so bloated. It took a few days to get rid of it!!!!!!!!I spent quite a bit more time picking up black presents all over the yard. He also likes zucchini leaves.

This summer I thought I would grow tomatoes .They are ripening as we speak. Two weeks ago my husband and I saved a beautiful staffie from a pound. She has been picking and squashing my cherry tomatoes ever since.I'm finding them everywhere.
