The deciding factor for me is if everything checks out is I say to myself: would I rehome one of my own dogs to this home, if the answer is yes then I am more than happy to leave the dog. Maree CPR

Kirstin There is the Tuggeranong Vets in Fadden run by Malcolm McKeown, also the Gables in Monash I think, I think ARF use them, also Karabar NSW which is part of The Gables they are pretty good with rescue prices. Maree CPR

Anyone know of a reputable Afghan Rescue group around, I have an enquiry from a lady needing to rehome her Afghan girl, pure breed ex-show dog, 8 years old, all vet work done, she does not want to send her back to her breeder as most of them go into kennels. Any suggestions people?? Maree CPR

I can't believe there is no one on DOL who is able to do the home visit for me, well one person can but not untill this weekend but would like it done before then, if possible. Maree CPR

I have a friend around that area who does some rescue work I will contact her ( no promises) but she is currently handraising a litter , but always worth asking :) it is good to see people still do home checks Thanks that would be good, I am obsessed with home visits, I know of so many people who say that they are a pretty good judge of people, well, this has nothing to do with their fencing and whether the dog will be safe, I have been to so many homes where they have said that their fencing is good and they end up having pool fencing, gaps under gates, lose palings and as I only do small dogs most of them would have gone straight through it. All the families were lovely and could offer the dog a great home, so when rescue say they are a good judge of people does not mean they have safe fencing. I do rehome interstate and have someone in the area go and do it for me, (like in this case and just had a check done today at Batenman's Bay the lady is coming to Canberra tomorrow to meet a couple of dogs with her dog so am sure she will be taking home one of mine) and if not I get them to send me pics of their fencing, their yard in general, also pics of them and their other dog/s, I am then 100% sure that the dog I am sending them will be a match for their other dog/s, I have at least 3-4 phone conversations with them as well, yes, it is time consuming but I have NEVER had a dog returned yet so it is working and working well. The one at Belconnen is dangerous to take your dog as the big and small mix together and a couple of dogs have been killed there, one a 3 month old Cocker Spaniel killed by a Husky. Maree CPR

It is also a pain that the dogs are in alphabetical order if you need to reinstate a dog and you only moved it a day or so ago and it is a dog called Walter then you have to scroll through pages and pages of dogs sometimes page 20, very time confusing

Looks like FB is now the place to find things and get messages, I don't as a rule use it it is just another tool to have to use, with all the other places to search, who has time to look on all these sites, I don't and am sure many others don't either. Who does rescue on FB when DOL is where the dog related stuff is so it's all just a pain realy I still want most of the 48 resue groups listed in the ACT taken off, but that will never happen .

I had major problems adding dogs, could do everything else as an admin of our group but not add, PR had been going for 3 weeks before the issue was fixed, it was a matter of my address not being added, so my point is that I NEVER received an email asking for my opinion on the new site, and if I had I could not comment only that I could not get in. When did others receive the email asking for their opinion of the new site, seems odd as the complaints stated almost immediately the new site went live, so all seems really odd to me. Maree CPR
